I took my truck to Mathews in Mt Vernon at 3:40pm on a Friday (and the service department closed at 5pm). I discussed the issue with Joe, and he quickly asked his team to take a look and see what was wrong. One hour later, they corrected the electrical issues, and also took care of the 3 outstanding recall issues on my truck. While I do not live in Mt Vernon, I likely will not buy a vehicle from Mathews. However, my family does live there, and were really impressed with this level of service, as was I. As I filled out the online finance portion then finished via text to maddie. Came in and bought a 2013 Ford fusion se with 142,000 miles however upon getting into the car the odometer was at 151,250. Regardless I still purchased the car, and an extended 35,000 mile warranty. Fast forward a month I go to make my first car payment and was told by "maddie" I wasn't financed and she was trying to get in touch with me, which was a complete lie. I asked her how do I go about making my car payment she said I couldn't until financed. She said I wasnt fianced a month later because I changed jobs.. i got a higher paying job that paid weekly compaired to the job i was paid much less and bi weekly. Make that make sense. Mmmkay weird but okay. I had been calling and texting her daily asking about updates regarding the financing. She would say she would call me back via text but never would. Fast forward and my 45 day tags are now expired I go to the BMV to get tags and they said I needed the title, so I texted maddie that I needed my title she responded by saying oh no you won't be getting the title until we get you financed.. I said I was riding dirty because my tags are expired. She never responded. Fast forward a few more months with me asking her constantly for an update, all she said was I wouldn't be repoed because they're trying to get me financed. At this point I'm pissed and tell her BY LAW the dealership has to accept my car payment if they can't get me financed within 45 days otherwise I want to cancel the sale and get my money back. She left me on read..I was required to maintain full coverage which cost mfinanced? Monthly per our contact but yet I wasn't fianced? Fast forward to Saturday, I get a knock on my window from a repo company trying to repo my vehicle because I owe 10,000 in cash!?!. I was like nahhh, I've been trying to make payments for 8 MONTHS and I have her in text over 20 times refusing payment. They finally get her on the phone and she informs me that she doesn't care because she no longer works there. And she's only making 6,000 on this deal.. The repo people said that her husband the OWNER fired her because she did this to over 20 other people. So I'm like what do I do? They said make the car payment and come in Monday to get refinanced.. so I pay 375 Saturday because they said if I didnt they would report the car stolen...and go in this morning to either get refinanced or transfer the car into my finances name. And brought in all the appropriate documentation. I parked the car off road because something didn't seem right. When I walked in I seen Mattie and told the receptionist that she was the one that refused payment which she responded oh I know she's only here to clean up her mess. Until she leaves next week. Mattie then leaves with their repo team over and over. Fast forward 4 hours and I went out to my car and BOOM its gone, I come back in and the receptionist patty? Is like yeah we can't finance you and we took your car... mind you this place is 2 hours away from me. Of course I tell them that's illegal and I need my money back or the car as I made a payment on Saturday. She refuses to let me speak with the manager. She's telling him via text what I'm saying. And he's like oh fucking well. Yet it's in text for almost 9 fucking months of her refusing payment even though I told her I had spoken with a lawyer and this is illegal. It's a yo yo scam. They ruined the transmission and all the tires when they took the car. I called the cops and of course as I already knew it was a civil matter. The owner responded by saying take me to court. Which I plan to do. And I guarantee you I will win, as you have other lawsuits for the same behavior. This is a yo yo scam and has been documented this entire time. You can not legally take my car as we have a contract that you have to abide by. But when I mentioned that they said the contact was void because I wasn't financed. But that is also false. I was financed before even purchasing the car. And financing doesn't void a contract with the dealership buddy. So at this point I want my money. As you broke mny many consumer laws and auto fraud my guy. You will be hearing from my lawyer tomorrow, and will be getting a formal letter of complaint that you must abide by BY LAW, if not I will be taking you to court which I don't think you want to do. Took the care in for repair they had to order a module for it. Charged around $180.00 to check the problem out out and then said it would be about $1000.00 parts and labors to fix. I was never informed about the $180.00 to check the problem so I did som research from my younger days being in the auto business. So of people who do not know in OHIO any auto repair over $50.00 you have the right to a written or oral quote or you can telll them too do the work no matter what. the cost. So if you go in for new brakes and given no quote of any kind when you com back for your car best they can charge you is $50.00 Donely of Mount Vernon service writers are exactly that writers NOT advisors. Service manager I am not sure what she manages she had no idea about the law saying that the customer has a right to cost if over $50.00

We thought it would be safer to buy from a Ford/Lincoln dealership. Due to COVID and being about 2hrs away but under lockdown we couldn't go test drive it. It was a few thousand dollars more than one that was only 30min away but in Michigan and they were totally shut down. It was delivered which was awesome. Once the thunderstorm stopped I went to go check out all the features. My kids loved the big trunk and were playing in it and lifted up the shelf. Glass EVERYWHERE. (And tons of nasty dog hair but whatever) the back window much have shattered at one point and detail missed that. Ok. Rust bubbles all along trunk that was not disclosed. Ok. Finicky passenger step side that was disclosed. Ok. NOT ok was brake pads were completely metal on metal!!!!!!! We could tel immediately when we drove it that the rotors were warped. No big deal still safe to drive. We heard a rubbing sound from front wheel and I assumed that was rotors. Waited over a week to get info that was supposedly mailed out (the ford CARFAX style report that I still haven't gotten in the mail a month later) but was texted info that showed rotors weren't resurfaced. Mechanic was SHOCKED that this vehicle was sold to us with metal on metal brake pads. I have 3 small children!!!! We were going down to FL towing our camper. If I didn't decide to get this looked at I might not be here to type this. I mean it's brake pads. Dealership put new tires on but ignored metal on metal brake pads!!!!! I have pics of odometer. We drove the vehicle less than 100 miles. It was awesome having to shell out lots of money because rotors needed replaced because they were too damaged from the metal on metal. This didn't happen in 100 miles.

Back at the dealership, the salesman pointed out the problem to the sales manager, Mark Hunnicut. Mark said it was a low battery. I said wouldn't that be a battery indicator light? He said no, and said the issue would be fixed when I came in the following day to complete the sale. But after having the car a short time, the amber engine light came on again. I took the car to my mechanic to run the test. The real problem was with the catalytic converter, an expensive repair. I was also told I did not need to have the repair done right away, so i waited until last month to have it done. I did not want to write this review until after the work. By the way, the Element manual says the amber engine light indicates an emissions problem, and the battery indicator light would indicate a battery problem. The Element is running fine, but I would beware of this place telling you whatever they wanted in order to make a sale.
