I was in the Mt Vernon area from out of state this past weekend, and the battery on my truck died. I replaced the battery, but had multiple electronic issues after the fact. I took my truck to Mathews in Mt Vernon at 3:40pm on a Friday (and the service department closed at 5pm). I discussed the issue with Joe, and he quickly asked his team to take a look and see what was wrong. One hour later, they corrected the electrical issues, and also took care of the 3 outstanding recall issues on my truck. While I do not live in Mt Vernon, I likely will not buy a vehicle from Mathews. However, my family does live there, and were really impressed with this level of service, as was I. His name is Dave Barnett and he made me feel like a second class citizen. 1. He WOULD NOT work with me on wanting my Impala paid off and giving me the title. 2. He quoted a higher price. When I showed him the mailer that I got, he informed me that Mathews contracts an outside agency to produce these flyers and they are mailed out to hundreds of people. REALLY? Goetzman is a large dealer with a small footprint who strive to meet all your needs. I stopped in months ago and had a short discussion about what I was looking to buy and what i was looking for in a truck. Pat did not pressure me into "buying today" but listened to my needs and put a plan in place to meet my needs. I had a very specific list of what I wanted with my truck (model, trim level, options, and color) and Pat would follow up when he had something on the lot or knew of something coming in. There wasn't the traditional pressure to look at something else, or to sell me on something I didn't like. Pat and Mike stuck to their word and found exactly what I was looking for in Toledo and brought it back to MTV without a final deal!!!!!! They gave me a very fair valve on my trade-in and we had a deal. They gave me their word on getting a couple loose ends tied up and stuck to their word. Wanting to buy locally, and having visited another dealer a few days earlier with negative impression, I stopped at Matthews. I have never bought a Dodge or Jeep product, but thought I would see what they had. I was greeted professionally and the salesman met with me right away. He listened to my parameters for a purchase and presented to me three choices, all of which were in those parameters. He did not try to sell me something I did not ask for. He was patient and listened well. In the end, I purchased a used Jeep Renegade at a fair price and trade in purchase price. Arrangements for financing were smooth and handled efficiently.
