Beautiful bar
Kimberly K.

My husband asked me where I would like to go for my birthday and I passed by Takumi several times when shopping at Whole Foods in Devon. I read pretty positive reviews so I went a had a booked it. Plenty of parking in the lot. We had late reservation so we didn't have any wait time. Upon arriving, we were promptly seated in a window booth. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Light was dim for an intimate atmosphere. The decor is modern and walking in you see the large attractive bar with decorative gold lights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with a spepper squid appetizers. The batter was crispy, however, the squid was a bit chewy, bland and greasy. I'd not recommend.. The beef gyoza was cooked perfectly- pan seared and steamed. We ordered chicken curry and a sashimi deluxe . The curry was delicious. Vegetables were not soggy . Medium heat. The sashimi blew me away! Beautiful presentation with sushi rice under each fish. The best in Mainline! I'm coming back ! Miso soup was perfect- small pieces of tofu and Wakame seaweed. Cocktail was - ok - - can't beat the mixologists at Blue Elephant. - I'd get an Asian beer next time. 5 stars

Ordered a la carte: spicy crunchy salmon roll & uni nigiri
Sara J.

My family & I made a last minute reservation & dined here on a Wednesday evening. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a really cute spot for a date night, girls night out or family gathering.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I thought it was odd that our server didn't know what "nigiri" was. She also didn't tell us what all the fishes were when she delivered the sushi sashimi combo so we had to guess... However, every dish we shared was fresh & tasty. The shishito peppers, uni & scallop carpaccio, yellowtail jalapeño sashimi, Hokkaido uni nigiri & crunchy spicy salmon rolls were some of my favorites. I would definitely dine here again when I am in town again visiting my family.

Rock Shrimp

Came here for Happy hour and was pretty impressed! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is only bar seating so best to come with a small group but the restaurant is beautiful and the presentation of each dish was aesthetically pleasing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the lychee bellini, crispy spicy, rock shrimp, white tuna avocado, and spicy crunch salmon. The lychee bellini is the perfect drink for someone who wants something sweet and doesn't really taste like alcohol. My favorite was the crispy spicy, I loved the different combinations of textures, and the flavor was bomb. The shrimp was good but I'm allergic so I didn't eat too much of it lol The rolls I felt were just okay nothing too special, the appetizers and drink were the stars of the meal. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. I would return to try the other options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only complaint was that it was way too warm, my legs were sweating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Tuna

Conveniently located in Devon village. I have stopped by this place several times. I have gotten the salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. My partner has ordered the Chilean sea bass. Although I enjoy the miso glaze, I feel the "glaze" should be a bit lighter or they should place a thinner layer, as it can overwhelm the flavor of the delicate fish. The sushi is fantastic, I order it on delivery as well and it is fresh and well balanced very time. The service at the restaurant is great, very prompt. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a good location for a casual date night, a meal to catch up with friends, and order some drinks as well with their full bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Creamy kimchi udon IT HAS SHRIMP IN IT!!!
Lacey G.

Takumi is a beautiful new restaurant that has the nicest staff and freshest sushi. Staff was very accommodating and present through the meal. I ordered the creamy kimchi udon. Of note: THIS HAS SHRIMP which is not noted on the menu. This dish was a highlight for me. Every component was fantastic. The sushi was unbelievably fresh. I ordered the fiery roll and a roll (forget the name that had rock shrimp, kani salad, mango sauce, lime zest). Can't wait to return and try some apps and ramen!

Toro Toast

Absolutely amazing Experience, quality of the sushi is by far the best I ever had, and the price is unbeatable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]we sit at the bar watching the craftsmanships take place, seeing how passionate the sushi chefs are about each dish really shine though.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hospitality and service is great. 3rd time coming here and will continue to do so!

Ankimo Special

Service was very friendly. The ambiance was very nice. The food was impressive. Every dish was arranged nicely. The sashimi, sushi, crudo, tartar and carpaccio were all very fresh. It was quite pricey though. This was my second time there. I would go back again. The noise level was quite loud the second time, but I am not sure how that could be prevented.

Once again, I am back! This time, I brought my two cousins to indulge in my favorite happy hour hotspot. The star of the night were the Salmon Dream and Crispy Spicy. A visual masterpiece. A delight for the bite. One feedback to the restaurant though, every time I'm here, I feel like I always ask the waitress what a Salmon Dream and Crispy Spicy consists of. A description of these items on the menu was be helpful! Nevertheless, they loved the experience, and I continue restaurant knowledge respectability.

An excellent addition to the local Japanese/sushi connoisseur scene. The decor is beautiful inside. The tables include a small lamp which you can adjust the brightness on individually (aka perfect photo lighting) which I greatly appreciated. Our waitresses were friendly but I don't think prepared for the busy night. I only noticed two in our area, and we needed to wave them down each time we needed more drinks, water, main course, etc. Not their fault necessarily so not a huge deal to me. The food was delicious! Although my sisters bf didn't feel the $40 wagyu fried rice was worth the cost, I was very pleased with the freshness of my sushi rolls. And the pork gyoza were some of the best I've ever had! The truffle ramen was very tasty, but I've had better broth. Prices are expected for the mainline overall. Overall it's definitely added to the list, and I believe will only excel in service as they grow!

I liked a spicy pork dish they sell there, and I've had the mini pork dumplings, which are savory and well prepared. A few weeks ago, I picked up a container of a chicken dish (their honey chicken?) that was frozen in the container. They are at the very high end price-wise for food of this type, and the signage should have indicated that some items were frozen, because I would have skipped it. It was not worth half what I paid. Most of the pre-portioned containers are $14-18, more toward the higher end. If I wanted frozen food, I'd go to a supermarket. Today, I got their General Tso's chicken and fried rice. Right after I ordered, an employee on the right side of the stand sneezed -- it seemed like without covering his mouth -- and when I looked at him in shock he sneeezed again, but into his shoulder this time, while another employee wiped off the counter where the man had been standing. Ambiance? Hold the extra sauce, please! When I was rung up for the medium sized chicken and small container of fried rice, it was $17.91. I looked down and said, "Is there a mistake?" No mistake, other than my own for sticking around after the sneezing. The chicken was hard in places, the coating was fallling off the chicken, and it did not taste fresh. I am guessing that items are warmed up from being refrigerated or frozen in the bins in the front counter. There was a slight vinergary taste to the chicken, it did not look appetizing, and the fried rice had clumped and congealed. I am always willing to give a place a second chance, because food service is such a tough field and anyone can have an off day. But the consecutive bad experiences here have left a bad taste in my mouth, and while writing this I have the bad taste of what was apparently some General Tso's that wasn't fresh, wasn't good, and was a waste of money.
