New sushi joint for our fam! We've had them a handful of times and we are converts now. Very fresh and delicious!

When I think of cheap, affordable sushi, I think of Vic's. But even with the price, I am always disappointed. Their spicy tuna is overfilled with panko (cheap), and their tuna always tastes like it's been out a bit too long. This time, I decided to go all out and order their toro nigiri. However, toro, which should be delicious without doing anything to it, was the worst toro I've ever had. First of all, it was SEARED. Nowhere in their description does it say that their toro sushi/sashimi is cooked. This is so cheap and shady and makes me wonder if they only seared it because it was either old or not truly toro. Unfortunately, there aren't many other sushi restaurants in this area, so curved rating bumps up to a 3 when taking into account the competition. read more

I ordered the lunch sushi special. Three rolls for $12. The sushi was fresh and full of flavor. I got the salmon roll, tuna roll, and eel cucumber roll. The salmon was of good quality. The fish was smooth on the palate and had ample buttery fat content. The other two rolls I found fairly standard sushi joint quality. The portion of fish is not superb, but it was enough for a medium sized lunch sushi portion. read more

I love Vic's in Rosemont. Fresh, clean, Covid safe, easy to order and easy to pick up. My Nigiri platter had yellowfin, snapper, white tuna, salmon and eel. The eel is the best I've had. The fish is fresh and carefully molded to the rice. Also ordered a variety of rolls. From mango and avocado for the uninitiated to a tempura shrimp helping seafood fearing eaters to spicy tuna. My new favorite sushi spot on the Main Line. I've been to Vic's in Center City a few times - I still admittedly can't tell if the owner is the same for both... but the menu and the quality of sushi are the exact same. Handle takeout very well, and the sushi is so delicious and fresh! I'll be back! How to order: They have an online platform that makes it easy to order. They have a lunch special too where you can order 3 rolls at a discounted price. How they're handling takeout: You aren't allowed into the actual restaurant, but have a physical screen inside where you can pay. Everyone is in masks, and they require you to have a mask on too. When I went (around 12pm on a weekday), there were a few folks waiting outside of the store to pay. Food: Highly recommend any of their rolls with eel or shrimp tempura, as well as my favorite appetizer - their tuna dumplings! So much tuna packed onto one dumpling. I find that their serving sizes are actually slightly larger compared to other sushi spots in the area, for around the same price. Some rolls (California, spicy salmon) will generally taste the same, regardless of what sushi restaurant you order them from. What I will definitely order again from here are their eel and avocado rolls, and any of their dragon rolls with eel and shrimp tempura. Overall: 5/5 - Honestly, I'm not sure how I can go back to other sushi spots, now that I know I can get something so similar to Vic's in Center City, but on the Main Line. I ordered Vic's Sushi in Rosemont for the first time and had a great experience! I called ahead to place my order (4 orders) and it was ready in 20-30 mins. They were really busy and had a ton of orders waiting to be picked up / delivered when I got there to pay. There's a little window that they take payment (they use gloves) and also give you your food. I feel like it's one of the few restaurants that are the same since they were always take-out only before so they are few adjustments for them for COVID-19. I have had Vic's Sushi in Center City multiple times and my biggest worry was that the rolls wouldn't be the same, but have no fear! Quality and menu is the same as Center City, give them a try! I was frequent visitor of the Rosemont Subway and was disappointed to see it close. However, I was fairly happy to see a take-out sushi restaurant called Vic's was opening in this spot. I walked in today and was kindly greeted by the staff. The cashier, handed me one of their menus, which had a variety of different items including salads, a variety of sides, sushi and sashimi. Eventually, I decided to order a couple of California and Philadelphia Rolls. I also decided to get a spring roll and their mixed vegetable salad with ginger dressing. After around 10 minutes all of my food was ready. I liked how all the food was freshly made and you could even see the sushi being made! That is something that I rarely seen at sushi-takeout restaurants. While all of the food good it was not magnificent. I really liked the Philadelphia Roll, especially the freshness of the salmon and how creamy the cream cheese was. The California Roll was solid, but I wasn't a big fan of the cucumber, it just didn't taste too good. My main concern with all of the sushi, was the rice. It just tasted a bit off. There sushi would be MUCH better if they could improve upon their rice. Their spring roll was pretty good and their sweet and sour sauce was tasty. My biggest disappointment was in the mixed vegetable salad. While the ginger dressing was good, it lacked vegetables. It only had two tomatoes, thin strips of carrots and a couple of cucumbers. I did like their selection of drinks here. They had water, coke and a variety of traditional Japanese drinks. I went with a Japanese soda called, Ramune. It was cold and refreshing, though it was a bit hard to drink as there was a marble inside. The best part of Vic's was there great staff. The entire staff was sweet and wanted to make sure I was doing ok. I especially liked how the cashier recommended I get all my sushi from the same section as it would come with a discount. That was so sweet of her. Inside, they also have some traditional Japanese decorations as well as a TV. There is also an iPad where you can place an order from inside the restaurant. Altogether, this restaurant is not as good as some other local Sushi places like Mikado or my personal favorite, Gin Za. Promise this is probably THE worst sushi I've ever had! Yes it's inexpensive, so the size of the rolls isn't an issue. I actually like the rolls being on the smaller side. I feel like I paid for "several" day old tuna. I got a spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll. Since I'd never eaten here before, I figured I'd keep it simple bc those are two rolls you can't generally mess up. The tuna smelled really really fishy. It shouldn't. I ate one and realized it was was not okay to eat. The shrimp tempura roll was far from crispy and slightly tempura'd. Normally this would be something I'd expect if I was dumb enough to get sushi on a Sunday or Monday (not fresh). I wouldn't get food here again! read more

Got the 3 roll special and the quality was decent! Vic's is super COVID friendly for takeout. You simply order online (with the option to pay in-store if you want) and it's ready within 20-30 minutes! My only complaint is that they charge an additional $1.50 for sauces. Great inexpensive sushi! They have the 3 rolls for $12 for lunch and dinner (of course, it's a limited selection). I got the eel avocado roll, spicy tuna roll and salmon roll. In the order, it comes with pickled ginger, wasabi, and a small cup of soy sauce. The only reason I did not give it a 5-star is because there isn't much rice on the actual roll. Although there is a good amount of ingredients inside the roll, the lack of rice makes it subpar to other sushi places. The ratio of rice to spicy tuna is off. Also, my eel avocado roll was missing eel in one of the piece (essentially it was a piece of avocado roll) Also, the place is very fast in preparing your order. If you call in ten minutes beforehand, they can have it ready when you arrive. The speed is ideal for a quick lunch. read more

We picked up Vic's this past weekend for a fun sushi dinner with our kids. We ordered the kids some "standard" rolls and then got some specialty rolls for the adults. The kids had Philadelphia Roll and Tuna/Avocado + Crunch. They were a bit on the small side compared to the same rolls we get them at other restaurants. Which almost seemed odd to me, because our specialty rolls were normal sized. We did the Best Friend, Happy Roll, and Fantastic Roll. The Fantastic was just that, fantastic, it was our favorite of the three. The only roll we weren't crazy about was the Happy Roll - the shrimp tempura wasn't cooked enough and became a bit soggy, so a double negative on that one. The only other advice I have is time your order with caution - I did a 5:45 - 6 pickup and we actually got there early, so I figured I'd go in and check (it was 5:31). Our order was already ready - I can't imagine how soggy the tempura would have been had we arrived at our scheduled time of 5:45! read more

Five stars because Vic's sushi is by far the most simple, convenient, and fresh sushi that fits perfectly in my lifestyle. Only sad part is that I've moved and now live 30 mins from Hatboro and can't have this every week. My common order includes: Pad Thai (shrimp or chicken) - the noddles are cooked perfectly with great portions and a lime on the side. The lime over this dish is the best! Penang Curry (shrimp) - always shrimp because the way the shrimp is prepared is just delicious, it's well cooked and the flavors of the curry is absorbed throughly. Three roll special (Alaska roll - avocado & salmon, tuna roll and yellow tail roll) I always ask for the rice to be wrapped on the outside. We've ordered take out at least 3 times during the lockdown, just writing this review I'm debating putting an order in for lunch! Spicy tuna is great, one of my wife's favorite! You can never go wrong with the California roll either. I love the spicy salmon roll, nice fatty salmon, they do not skim. Pretty good stuff! One if the better sushi places in the area, for sure. Make sure to order their larger rolls here- the only complaint that I have is that the smaller ones are a tad overpriced when compared to others in the area. As an added bonus, their pickup is super easy during covid- they have barriers up, and have taken every precaution that they could have taken to slow the spread. read more

Vic's Sushi To-Go, didn't seem to appealing to me at first because the to-go aspect reminded me of supermarket sushi. The kind that if I was starving I would eat it because it's quick and already prepared, but wasn't great. And I'm not talking about Wegman's Sushi, I'm talking about the regular food store sushi. However, I kept seeing great reviews on yelp for it. So one day I was starving for lunch and I decided to try it. I came in and I saw it was a clean, nice looking place. I was greeted by a really friendly cashier and I ordered the Sushi Lunch-California Roll with 5 pieces of Chef picked Sushi. The sushi came with miso soup, which actually came with a fair amount of seaweed. The sushi is prepared in plain view facing a seating area. I got a look at the fish and it was really fresh looking. I wasn't waiting too long before my sushi was finished being prepared. I took the sushi to-go and ate it. The fish was really fresh and tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I have a serious pet peeve when it comes to sushi rolls not being tightly rolled. These rolls were well made and did not come apart. I would order from here again. Last year, I met up with a friend and we ordered from Vic's in Willow Grove. The lunch special was a great value of three rolls and some miso soup. Everything tasted fresh, service was quick, and there really weren't any complaints. I was ecstatic when Vic's opened up this takeout place where the horrible Subway used to be. I phoned in my lunch order and was told it would be about fifteen minutes. It was the same value as before. I have horrible co-workers who won't eat Sushi. I'm so thankful this is takeout, so I can eat with them, while they enjoy their burgers. My only issue was that the Sushi and the miso soup were bagged separately. In the soup bag, I was given a fork rather than a spoon... Hmm... Still a five star joint. I'm only giving this place a five, since I've been to other locations and this was just as good. I have the menu sitting on my desk and I'm already dreaming of the next roll I get. Probably won't get the lunch special, but I might splurge on something a bit fancier... I hope this place lasts. Another Stella sushi place! This doesn't surprise me as Benny and Vicky from Vic Sushi in Ambler have decided to expand their business. This place is geared towards takeout, although I was surprised how much more spacious the place is and a few tables. You can order online here and pickup. From what I hear, they may have an app soon too. The fish is just as good and fresh as the other place. I'm a talkative one sometimes and wen visiting other sushi establishments, I try and start a conversation with the owners. If I hear they get their fish from Benny, it makes me feel better about the experience. You will see the "ask Benny" tshirts when you walk into their new ToGo place. I am very picky when it comes to sushi. Some rolls just kind of gross me out! First time around with Vic's I was very pleased. The fish tasted very fresh and did not have a weird texture or too fish-y of a flavor. I ordered brown rice and that sort of fell right off the roll if I wasn't careful. I like the sushi roll meny options. My husband does not eat fish and had a TON to choose from, most places are very limited when it comes to a no fish roll. Vic's even offers chicken! I am not sure if this is my go-to spot yet. I did not LOVE LOVE my meal and have not tried enough places in the area BUT it is a solid option. read more

Don't expect the fattest, avocado'd down, tuna loaded, salmon packed, shrimp'd out rolls. It's your standard, run of the mill sushi grab and go depot. Anyone that says.. THIS IS THE BEST SUSHI EVER (on the main line) seemingly never yelped Mrs. Margaret Kuo's Upstairs Sushi Emporium. It is pricey but well worth the experience.. Vic's is more or less a go to for the kids who for sure and def. Do NOT buy the sushi at the Bryn Mawr Acme (I see you). Sadly and unfortunately, I suspect most Novabros snapchat and Instagram these rolls to their buddies and Novahoes conjuring up the image of a more decadent, and refined palate than most. Whilst they po' up a Natty Boh into their big gulp, 7/11, pimp cup hamming out to some classical DMB or The Strokes. (I kid I kiddd) P.S. 1. The three rolls for $11 deal is hands down the best quality-to-quantity sushi ratio on the Main Line. Since they've shown up, I don't go anywhere else for my casual sushi needs. It's casual dine-in or to-go, the space is functional and clean, not flashy. Staff is always friendly and accomodating - they ran out of a certain kind of fish once for one of my online orders and called me immediately so that they could make me something else, and were happy to substitute an off-menu roll. Their online ordering form isn't pretty, but it's accurate and efficient. Unlike other places with other UIs (and who knows what happening on the backend), Vic's has never f'd up an online order from me. read more

Friendly, delicious, we'll be back! The tea was too hot and I didn't get a receipt, those were the only problems. The eel roll could have had more eel in it, but the taste and the texture were great! It was off the cheap side of the menu, so I didn't expect huge pieces, overall I would definitely order it again! The salmon on the sashimi sampler in my picture was out of this world!! The salmon was so super buttery in texture and taste, a great cut of fish, Vic's knows what they're ordering!! We got tea, it was green tea. The philly and California roll both had cucumber, the cucumber was a bit wet for my taste or maybe it was too loosely packed in there, I couldn't figure it out, but it was refreshing and required for those rolls. The philly roll had a good amount of meat, the California could have had more cramb stick, but that's just me, I could eat crab stick raw every day!! Other people complained about the rice. I disagree with them. The rice was perfect and not one piece fell apart or had too much rice or tasted funny. We loved eating there and seeing all the takeout orders going out! I have had a few take outs from here over the few years. after taking advantage of their 3 roll special for my lunch, I decided to give it a try with their sushi party tray and sashimi combo. the girl who took my order, wasn't friendly, and my order was messed up after she double checked with me 3 TIMES! I asked to substitute tuna sushi to salmon and she said there will be additional charges and I agreed. but when i got home and opened my order, I had extra tuna sushi and NO salmon. this really ruined my whole dinner since salmon is my absolute favorite and that was what I was excited for. although my boyfriend and I are not the most pickiest people when it comes to food, He also thought the fish wasn't fresh and that they smelled fishy. So much better than the typical horseradish and green food coloring I find everywhere else. The fact that you remembered me tonight when I came in and brought out that nice piece of wasabi to show me the fresh root that you got in really made me happy. That alone would've elevated you to the five star review I am now giving you. On top of that, Despite the fact that I'm avoiding rice due to dietary reasons right now, I did order two pieces of sushi on top of the sashimi order I made. I can say that the rice which was the only imperfection in my previous orders was now pretty perfect. Great job there as well. My original review is below and I can now say after having a chance to come in for a third time that you are doing a great job. Surprisingly fresh sushi at a very fair price. Great and larger selection of fish than expected for a generally take out establishment. Fresh enough that it doesn't have to be served ice cold. A real surprise. If you really know sushi you know what I mean. Only thing needed to elevate this to a five-star rating would be a little bit of real wasabi instead of just the standard green horseradish and a little more perfection in the rice. Rice had good flavor and texture but wasn't quite developed enough for sushi rice and was a little bit long grain and less sticky than I would expect. Maybe slightly underdone. Really nice staff who seem energetic and happy as well. Get the rice perfect, and step it up on the wasabi and you will be elevated to a five-star establishment in my opinion. It's a takeout sushi place with fish that's a grade better than what you'd expect for the prices. They have a seating area-- it's clean and well-kept, but very no-frills. They do a three-roll lunch special for $11.50 that's a great deal and that I'd recommend. I'll be back for it. I've been less impressed with their special rolls, which, unlike at Mt. Fuji in Ardmore, don't seem to be worth the markup, and with their other sushi specials. Consider, for example the Tuna Combo. It's 1 tuna roll and 6 pieces of tuna nigiri. I think that given the theme of "tuna," you could probably come up with something more interesting. And at $18.95, it's certainly not much of a deal (the items would cost $20.33 if ordered individually, so you're saving less than $1.50 on the combo). read more

If you don't want to break the bank and aren't expecting restaurant tier sushi, this might just be the place for you. The location is convenient, the staff are kind, service is quick, and you can walk out with 3 sushi rolls of your choice for around $15. As you might expect given the price tag, the rolls are on the small side and a bit stingy on the fish. The flavors are one dimensional and the textures are bland. That said, everything I ordered was perfectly edible and scratched the sushi itch. Overall, it is a case of you get what you pay for, but what you get for relatively little isn't going to ruin your day either. read more

Tried Vic's rosemont take out for first time. Usually order from Samurai down the street. I would say they are comparable. Vic's just has more selection. Enjoyed an assortment of rolls and sashimi. They threw in a miso soup at no charge. Wasabi was amazingly spicy. Sashimi was generously sliced (thick). Solid option for main line sushi takeout. Loved the online ordering feature.
