The last time I was failed a test and got deferred 8 times. can't see their doc to talk about it because they don't make appointments for that. even their videos say that you can talk to the doc. Anyways, they gave me a letter to give to my personal doctor for her input. it was good to go. they permanently deferred me from coming due to to many failed test. So why did I have to go to my doc with a letter?

This is a two part review. As far as the blood draw and donating, they were great. I have to go…read moreweekly for my draws and Leticia is the person that works with me. She is fantastic. The location has easy parking. The office is bright and clean. The second part is really a shout-out to the staff. While I was in for my last draw, a homeless man can in. He was polite and requested to use the phone as he was homeless and wanted to call his family for some assistance. It was 95f outside. He showed some signs of dehydration. The manager of the facility came out and said, of course. He used the phone, said thank you. The staff offered him some cold water bottles before he left. They also called 911 as they were worried about his safety. Police arrived shortly after to just check him out. They called the EMTs to check him as well and we were able to see that they took him to the hospital. Many places would have just said No and told the person to go elsewhere. The staff at this location really showed they cared about the people and their community.

I have been coming many…read moremany times over the last year and a half and I have been shown nothing but kindness and compassion. Every time I walk in the door I get greeted by name with a smiling face. It also helps that they are very skilled with the needles and I have never had a negative experience with the insertion or withdrawal. If you want to do an amazing thing by donating blood or what I recommend- PLATELETS :) this is the place to do it!

I always feel welcomed when I enter the facility. One of their weaknesses (at least from my last experience) is needle entry. When the needle was inserted into my arm, it hurt a lot, and it's not supposed to. After a couple of minutes of poking around my arm and shifting the needle, I was bandaged up and told I wasn't able to donate that day because my vein deflated (this was on me, didn't eat enough or drink enough beforehand) . They do a great job of taking care of patients who are anxious, but when my entire sleeve ended up covered in blood (bent my arm after it was bandaged up to pick up my bag), I was in shock. I had never had an experience like this, but the staff was very compassionate and understanding. Although I'm a bit scared to donate platelets/blood/plasma again, I would still go to this location (with more food on my stomach and well hydrated) :)

I've had a few bad experiences where the phlebotomists didn't do a great job sticking me and left me with a big bruise, but those are fairly rare. They seem to maybe have a bit of an employee turnover problem, but that might be common for the industry. It's a bummer when the ones who do a good job sticking you leave or reduce their hours.

After donating whole blood they asked if I could donated double red blood cells only - I was nervous as the process is slightly different and the staff explained everything and brought a calcium rich snack over when I experienced the metallic taste in my mouth from the aphereisis/plasma re-entry. Lots of snacks available and good after-care instructions. Already scheduled my next donation for June. Check them out, save a life.
