Not an ideal place to work at. Take long to reply to messages and unprofessionally ghost applicants.

If you, like our family, are looking for an alternative to traditional schools around East Bay,…read moremake sure you put Acton Academy on your list. We are experiencing an education environment we have been hoping to provide to our kid with an asynchronous learning style. At Acton, students learn at their own individual paces, together. Learning at their own paces, most of the time, but not always means accelerated. Sometimes, it takes a squat to leap higher. There are no teachers to lecture students on the same materials at the same time but guides to provide a guardrail to ensure students focusing on their goals each school year and milestones each session. We think Acton as a project-based progressive school. For example, in one session the elementary studio is learning oceanology. Students studied anatomy of gut and cleaned sardine, blew a tank of blue water to observe waves, created dioramas of coral reefs, and made dumbo octopuses by shredded papers. All of these are backed by students' own researches which were presented to their parents at the exhibition by end of the session. This review feels like overdue. We are very grateful to have an opportunity to learn and engage with Acton Academy. Kids need to feel safe, not judged, when they need more time to master a topic or make mistakes. They hold each other accountable to be kind, supportive, and inspiring. They bound with each other through music (taught by a musician), PE, and filed trips in addition to the science and art projects. Teamwork comes naturally because the students host seven exhibitions a year. In such a small community with ages from K to Middle School, everyone has something to contribute. I have to say the transition from a traditional school to Acton's learner-driven education model took our family sometime to embrace the differences. Now looking back, it was totally worth it. Part of me want to keep this micro-school a secret but I think it would be selfish if I do not share knowing other families may benefit from our experience.

Bright Minds is a breath of fresh air. After a pretty horrible experience at another local…read morepreschool, our family decided to give Bright Minds Academy a try. We have been so pleased since our child began attending Bright Minds. The staff is warm, caring, and kind. A huge shout to Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Edith-our child raves about them and it is evident that they care about our child's wellbeing. Our child enjoys going to school, learns so much, and has made such great connections with the staff and other students. To me, this is so meaningful as we want our child to love learning! Our child is happy and actually wants to go to school. The facility itself is clean, the toys are thoughtfully selected and rotated, the director and owner are kind/caring, there is open and honest communication from staff/teachers/owners/director. They even hold parent/teacher conferences to showcase what our child was working on, areas of growth, and progress. Specifically highlighting our child's strengths in the process. They have had concerts and halloween events which are extremely well thought out and executed, leaving an impression on children and families alike. There is structure and routine in our childs day. Our child knows what to expect and what times things are going to happen. Our child (as do many preschoolers) really thrives with this routine and structure in place. The class and environment are not hectic or chaotic, the staff has great classroom management. Our family went through some very challenging times and Bright Minds showed up ten fold for our family. Check-ins, asking if we needed anything, and accommodating anything that we needed. For this alone, our family will always be grateful for the staff, owner, and directors at Bright Minds. Anyone can become an educator, but being genuine, compassionate, and caring, during the hardest times really does showcase the nature of the staff here. Huge shout out to Ms. Jennifer, Ms. Eunhee, Ms. Lauren and even the other teachers such as Ms. Stephanie who have shown how much they care. I too work in education, and finding genuine educators like those here at Bright Minds is not easy. As other reviews state, we too wish Bright Minds would expand to elementary school :) If you are looking for a fabulous preschool, that is clean, well managed, with staff/teachers/owners/directors that go the extra mile, look no further. Seriously!

The teachers are the kindest and most loving to the kids. She grew up here. She started talking in full sentences because of BM. She improved all around because of BM. Here she learned more about being a kind and loving kid. Always there to help just like her teachers! I can't find all the great words I want to say as it's making me speechless. To parents that are inquiring or looking for preschool/TK. Here is the best place to put your kid in! You will not regret it. I recommend Bright Minds Academy 100%. Thank you for all that you've done for my daughter, for us. Keep shining BM!

There's a lot to be said about that! I also recall that when I graduated (less than 10 years ago) the percent of students who opted NOT to go to college was as low as 10%. Although I graduated from Foothill, I did attend Amador as well. Both schools were excellent but if I had a choice I would have stayed at AVHS. I found that the school's population was a lot more diverse here. Kids were coming from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds (as diverse as they get in P-town) and by comparison my classmates at Foothill were mostly all from gated the communities and stucco palaces that line Foothill road. We can all admit that any child who grows up in Pleasanton is fortunate but I would suggest that if you went to Amador vs. Foothill - you might grow up a little more well-rounded and ready for the real world. Foothill was a great school academically (they're on par with each other in that dept) but it was just not as diverse as Amador.
