It was an intro to pole class where we started out with a great warm up sesh that introduced us into holding the pole to stretch out our sides into a banana shape. We also did a good amount of yoga stretches on our mats and conditioning on the pole to prevent injury as pole can be strenuous on your body. When it came down to the pole moves, Josh was precise and steady when explaining the moves to our class. I appreciated how he was more than happy to demonstrate again when one of us asked and he went one-by-one to see how we recreated the move taught along with encouragement and feedback. This is a running theme with all the instructors at Siren as 6 poles in the studio makes it easier to focus on individuals in a smaller class. I remember not being able to hang from the pole with solely my arms, I felt discouraged for a sec but Josh looked at me and said its okay and all I need to do is to keep reinforcing this movement with consistency. The way he said that to me felt like I really could do it if i keep trying, so I did! I kept coming back to Siren Pole Dance and met many more great instructors that each have great tips and ways of educating people about pole. Not to mention the great community this studio has built with their members! I moved away from Covina where Siren was just a few minutes away, but I am always happy to come back to this studio along with their sister studio (Siren Aerial Fitness) whenever I get the chance. Pole dancing is painful so keep that in mind but once you land the trick it's worth it. Reena was a great instructor and made the class super fun and encouraging for newbies like us. It was nice to watch her do a combination really gracefully and then see how we stacked up. She was so sweet and nice to me especially as I'm a guy joining the class and really suggested popping off when I told her I had a bodysuit and heels. She even helped take pics of us after class :) The classroom and poles were rly clean! Had a bathroom to accommodate as well especially if ya want to change into a baddie of an outfit. I've been doing this style of pole dance movement now for 18 years, and have been with Haus ever since they opened several years ago. Many of my favorite teachers have returned, and I couldn't be happier. I've been to other studios, but this is my favorite. It's truly my home away from home, and the community is just lovely... full of very friendly, sweet women, and none of the cattiness you often find at regular pole studios. The supportive nature of the teachers and other students is so important to me because this is a very vulnerable place, and I feel safe here.

However, one the instructor arrived she opened the studio. I really enjoyed the experience, I felt like the instructor did a really good job of customizing the class to our various levels of experience which is really hard to do when you have some people who are just starting and some people who have been to many pole classes. She came around and helped each of us individually and provided modifications depending on our level of challenge. I also told her about an injury I had previously and she gave me some tips to provide relief and avoid reinjury. The only thing I didn't love was how dark it was in here haha I love the dark and sexy pole vibes but it was kind of hard to see when we first came in.

While Laura was instructing, I felt like she was talking about many unnecessary topics like how yoga is not their only profession and how it doesn't really pay well. I don't know how it's relevant to us? She also told a fellow student that I was copying her yoga moves and mentioned "monkey sees, monkey does" something like that. While I wasn't really copying anyone. She also mentioned that I was anxious during the session while I wasn't really anxious. I was just trying to put efforts. I don't understand how can someone "encourage " a student like that during their initial sessions. What's the issue even if someone is looking anxious? Yoga should be a pleasant experience for newcomers and not feel like walking on a tight rope. I thought it was just me but I found other 1 star reviews here concerning her on similar issues. I don't feel comfortable going back even though I paid for an entire month. Sorry but please treat your new students with extra care and encouragement. Good luck!
