I've been wanting to write this review because I think I speak for many of Laura's long-time students. I started attending Bikram Yoga back when Vern owned the studio--may he rest in peace. I came back in February 2026 and feel better and have lost 18 pounds! :) I recently read a negative review criticizing Laura for occasionally going off-topic during class and talking about real-life issues. My response is this: let's not be so quick to judge. None of us are perfect, and we're all real people dealing with real emotions and life experiences. When Laura says things like "monkey see, monkey do," I know exactly what she means. Many of us will see someone sit down or lie down during class and think, "Maybe I'll take a break too." I know I have. She's simply encouraging us to push through mental barriers and stay focused on our practice. What many people don't see is the amount of time and energy Laura invests in her students, especially new ones. I regularly see her stay after class to help students improve their poses, answer questions, and encourage them to reach their full potential. She is passionate about helping people succeed, not just in yoga but in life. What stands out to me most is how she connects with people on an emotional level. Many students come to her studio as a last resort after living with chronic pain, physical limitations, or frustration from not finding relief elsewhere. Laura genuinely cares about those people. She listens, encourages, and helps them believe that improvement is possible. That kind of dedication is rare. For me, Bikram Yoga has been incredibly healing, both physically and mentally. A lot of it is mindset, "you take what helps you, learn from it, and build on it". Don't let a few words that may have been taken out of context define Laura or her business. Life is what you make it, and I choose to view every class as a stepping stone toward a healthier, longer life. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I believe it's important to be kind and fair when sharing it. That's just my two cents. I am sorry but I had an unexpected experience here. It was my 2nd Bikram Yoga class and Laura was the instructor. My first session with the other instructor went well. While Laura was instructing, I felt like she was talking about many unnecessary topics like how yoga is not their only profession and how it doesn't really pay well. I don't know how it's relevant to us? She also told a fellow student that I was copying her yoga moves and mentioned "monkey sees, monkey does" something like that. While I wasn't really copying anyone. She also mentioned that I was anxious during the session while I wasn't really anxious. I was just trying to put efforts. I don't understand how can someone "encourage " a student like that during their initial sessions. What's the issue even if someone is looking anxious? Yoga should be a pleasant experience for newcomers and not feel like walking on a tight rope. I thought it was just me but I found other 1 star reviews here concerning her on similar issues. I don't feel comfortable going back even though I paid for an entire month. Sorry but please treat your new students with extra care and encouragement. Good luck! read more

I stopped visiting because Laura continuously berated me during a session. Keep in mind, I value constructive feedback. At this time, I came to clear my mind from grief. Laura did not make this a peaceful or calming moment for me. After speaking with her, she began to talk down to me rather than acknowledging my experience. I started my hot yoga journey in 2011 and have been to many studios, and i have to say that laura's class and studio has an amazing practice and flow. I am a multi sport athlete and certified teacher/coach myself and laura is truly one of the best teachers out there. She also has an amazing set of teachers that i also highly recommend. Wish there were more hrs in the day so i can attend all of the classes! Bikram yoga as a yoga is just hard and very specific but if you able to listen to instruction, you are able to do the class no matter what level you are. read more

I love Hot Yoga Covina! I drive from another part of town just to practice in this studio. The owner, Laura, who teaches a lot of classes really helps you connect mind and body. You leave feeling like you've just had the greatest work out physically, and so mentally relaxed as well. I've practiced yoga all over the Los Angeles area and this studio is by far my favorite because of the instructors. I highly recommend this studio to anyone starting yoga or someone that's practice for years looking to deepen their practice! Cannot say enough good things. Here's my honest review after attending for one year. I 100% recommend this hot yoga studio. I started yoga for medical reasons. Enclosed is the schedule and price sheet. I tried the two classes for $30 to check it out and it was intense! Some places call this type of class Bikram or 26x2. After those initial classes I made the commitment to attend at least twice a week but the goal was 3 times a week. I found a pattern in the schedule that worked for me and signed up for a monthly plan. A financial commitment will likely hold you accountable to keep coming. In six months, I lost 11 pounds (workout trying) AND avoided cholesterol pills. I have a bad knee and my spine curves the wrong way. A lot of pain has subsided since I became a yogi. Drink two liters of water the day BEFORE your class. It'll help you not feel dizzy with exercising in the heat. Dress in dry wicking clothes that stick to your body. You'll be bending over, balancing, laying down, and more. Take to class: 1. Yoga mat 2. Towel, size of yoga mat (I prefer 88% polyester and 12% nylon so I don't slip) 3. Mini towel, wash cloth size (I prefer 80% polyester and 20% polyamide to wipe my face during class and dry sweat after class) 4. Socks (wear after class...it's gross to step into someone's sweat) 5. Water bottle, no ice (ice makes noise which is disruptive) 6. Hair necessities (I tuck all my hair into a gator) 7. Dry clothes (unless you want to drive home a hot mess) Expect to feel exhausted after your first few classes. I promise it'll get easier. Drink Emergen-C with immune support and/or Gatorade after classes. Track your progress on a calendar or journal. It feels great to see improvements. With camel pose, I would reach back and was no where close to touching my feet, let alone grabbing them. Every class I would keep reaching until one day my fingertips touched, then grabbed, and now I do it the pose with ease. It took six months of practice but I got it when I heard 8" between your knees and 6" between your feet. That day, I heard it differently. Some poses will be easy and some after a year are still in progress like the leg lift. I'm still working on the first part of the picture. It took four months of arching my back, leaning forward, and doing 10% of the posture before I could grab my foot. Eventually I was able to lift my leg (slightly). A year later I'm still trying to keep my balance and kick my leg (longer than a few seconds). Don't let physical ailments detour you from trying. Yoga might be your turning point too! All the teachers have been female (Laura, Linda, Elena, Alex and Monica). Each one is amazing and you should try them all out because you might hear the instructions a tiny bit different and that might be what it takes for you to finally nail the pose. What went well? Everything! I haven't lost weight in years and this does the trick! I've been coming almost every day for an over month and I'm seeing pretty impressive results. I'm overweight and on diabetic medication, a CGM, and on HBP medication too. But guess what, my Dr. decreased my medication by half yesterday! This is less than 2 months! I was a 1XL which is bigger than an XL and I now fit in a size Med top. I want to thank all the instructors for their countless support. I've been so sad for so many years being overweight and everyone I know knew that I had to come back here. Thank you, Laura for telling me to buy a special tank top instead of hiding under my oversized shirts. It really made a difference and helped me see my progress and motivate me. I can't express how happy I am and moreover, thankful for everyone here. It's like a supportive family and I feel really blessed. My Dr. is super happy too because my A1C was over 11 during the summer and now it's 5.8!!! You have to put in the work and learn to let go of a lot of things, stress, neg self talk, and bad habits. When you do this, it will work! Give it a shot, it might be tough in the beginning but remind yourself "If not now, then when?" I definitely loved it here the instructor was amazing she walked me through every move and muscle her name was Alex. Even As a new member I felt so welcomed and comfortable even on my first day by myself. Parking gets a little hard to find since it's located in the back of the Plaza. But this place is definitely a hidden gem and the prices are convenient. I would definitely recommend this class at least once a week even for people who are just beginning. read more

BEST PLACE EVER!! I was looking for a place to improve my well being (including losing weight) and I stumbled into this Bikram Hot Yoga studio. I NEVER tried yoga before so I didn't know what to expect. I was thinking... hot = sweat = lose weight. Boy was I glad I found this place! I have to admit. First class was HELL!! I could barely stay in the room. I was suffering. But after 90 minutes, surprisingly, I actually felt good! I started to do once a week for a few weeks, gradually, I increased it to 2, then 3 then.... let's just say, A LOT. Long story short, I have been coming to this studio for 7 months now. I feel great and I lost 45lbs. YEAH!!! Now, I have never felt healthier, my body looks good, and the people here are wonderful!! Hi you'll I drove 45 mins in traffic to make it to yoga class and i was so disappointed never was told, if you purchase 2 day pass and dont use within a month you loose your entrance and have to pay again not happy with that rule i wish they would have told me in advance .... plus there times and days are not flexible for a working women 9-5pm and mom with 3 kids in sports!! Owner Laura is extremely rude and the most unprofessional business owner I've ever spoke to. She refused my service for "'making things difficult for her" after she refused to honor my Groupon voucher. I have a voice recording of her trying to angrily insult me by calling me privileged and telling me "I must be unhappy with my life". She also said she has had problems with Groupon before but told me it was my problem. Laura has horrible customer service and should not be dealing with customers if she cannot manage to keep her angry outbursts under control! read more

I returned to Covina Hot Yoga a couple months ago. I stopped working out at the gym and Yoga classes during the Pandemic. Since my return, I've lost 12 pounds and a little bit from my waist. I'm 75 years old, a Combat Veteran of Viet Nam and retired after 30 years in Law Enforcement. I deal with a lot of anxiety and depression. With Laura and the other instructors, I've been able to calm down a bit. They show me how the poses are done correctly and the body parts being impacted. I attend Yoga practice three time per week and blessed to still be able to do most of the poses. It's been great for my 75 year old body. read more

The owner Laura teaches almost every class and it's unfortunate because she has some serious anger issues and starts passive aggressively lashing out at her students instead of encouraging them. Plenty of yoga instructors will work you to your full potential without belittling you. She stresses being focused while talking about everything from taxes to Thailand in between postures. Being a hard working plumbing contractor Im a busy guy and I slowly compromised my time showing up for yoga with Lauras group . In fact , I totally flaked and have been away for about 4 years. Long story short , my lower back pain flared up 2 weeks ago ( i have have been diagnosed with minor rhematoid arthiristis in my lower back by Kaiser). I was so messed up I couldnt even stand up and wash dishes for 5 minutes! After about 7 days every day with Lauras crew , I can stand up , walk around and work like a human being again. I am even back on my truck doing plumbing calls again, though I farm out the digging part now,,,I'm done with that.!!!! Keeping that thought, I am going to start my day every day at Lauras studio to keep my health in check and get stronger. I tell you guys, Laura's hot yoga has something for everybody an every body needs its. returning to hot yoga after nearly 8 years ago since the last time , I thought I would not be able to stand the 90 min heat, Laura who is very accommodating and ,helped me go through the poses and breathing techniques ,and I am up to now very amazed how mind can control our body... Where do I begin? First off, I would like to start with the staff. From day one, every one has been so welcoming! I have been coming here for roughly 3 months now and not once have I felt intimidated or uncomfortable. The instructors are amazing at easing you into your first few classes. It's a 90 minute class, and let me tell you, it is not a walk in the park, but with the help of the instructors it is very much doable! The classes tend to get a bit full, but if you show up at least 15 mins before class (which they tell you to do to allow yourself time to get settled) you should be able to find a good spot. So far, I've lost 12 pounds with just the hot yoga. Laura, the owner, does such an awesome job of talking you through every pose. She has really taught me discipline and has helped me see that I am absolutely capable of more that what my mind allows me to think. Hot yoga is the best thing I have committed to in very long time. Laura is unprofessional. She called my wife names over the phone after we bought a Groupon to attend a class. No where on the Groupon did it mention it is valid for first time customers only. In fact, on the Groupon it says "not valid for members active within the past 6 months". Laura is the owner but from the words I heard her use over the phone were out of line. We recorded the call and will show up to her place of business and see if she talks to her employees the same way. I'm happy we live 5 minutes away so we can pop up daily. Just an update on my progress in practicing hot Yoga. (Feb 9, 2023). It's been 4yrs now, I have to say hot covina Yoga has positively changed me as a man. I lost weight, I went from 285lbs to 245lb. My body's pains and aches are nonexistent. I have a sense of tranquility, and patience when I enter the world. I have sense of confidence in my personal and professional life. I believe I develope the tools to face any stressful challenges that come at my way because of covina hot yoga. My body feels strong, flexible and my skin feels tight. My cardio has improved, I can go hiking or mountain biking without feeling overwhelming exhausted. At the gym, I take shorter break and I can do more reps when lifting weights. Covina hot Yoga has given my life back, and then some! Covina Hot Yoga class is a challenging class, but if you go through it, you will be a better version of yourself everytime you go. The hot room, which I call the room of chaos, you will discover who your are. The hot room which is typically 105-113 degrees will test your mental toughness, and this where you need to calm yourself and breath, leave the negative thoughts out of your mind, and be present on each yoga pose. Laura Unalivia my yoga instructor will challenge you, and she will instruct you on how to discipline yourself when going through each pose. Her classes are challenging, but the results are so worth it. She teachs you to develope a strong mind, but you must trust the process! A word of advice, just let go of negativite thoughts, your insecurities, tell your brain you're in charge of your body and push through and learn to embrace the hot room, because in this room, you will be a coal under pressure, but at the end of the process, you will become a diamond! Final thought. I met a lot new friends in this yoga community. People are nice and warm here. I guess, I call this a bonus! (Previous review from a year ago) HOT YOGA Covina It's been a few weeks that I've been doing hot yoga, and it has been a heck of an experience. For starters, the heat is set at 105 degrees Fahrenheit, which the yoga instructor says will help you stretch further more with a less chance of injury. Also, the total time of the class is 1 hour 30 minutes in order to perform 24 poses. Nonetheless, the heat creates challenges in concentrating on each of the yoga poses. This is where mind over matter kicks in. I've learned that the body is willing to do it, but it is the mind you must convince. Your constantly fighting yourself to continue to the next pose. I occasionally took small breaks in between poses, which help me continue. The only thing that kept me going was the reward of a relaxing good night sleep, and how much relax I'll feel the next day. I have to say after a few more times in taking class, I feel more relax, and more focus. I don't get my back spasms like I use too. I feel more calm and patient. My body feels limber and flexible. One more thing that I inherited from the class, I feel more energy and a passion to take on challenges in my personal and professional life. I guess the yoga instructor was right, if you can handle this hot environment while doing the challenging poses, you can handle anything the world throws at you. read more

This place has been HEAVEN sent for me. Theres nothing but POSITIVE things to say about this place. If your need of HEALING, if your indeed of restoring your body from the inside out, if your indeed of reclaiming your energy, this place has given me LIFE. I started to join the hot yoga at this place three months ago. I received special offer $40 for first three classes. Laura explained clearly that this coupon is valid for a new student only and only valid for a month. She also told me what i need to prepare before joining the class, so that I can be ready with the class. Even if I came with preparation, I was so exhausted on the first week. However, I felt better and better after I practiced for two weeks. Laura wants you learn the right way, so she will correct your pose if you did not perform correctly. I always have a positive thoughts when I attend the yoga class and I make a commitment to attend at least three times a week, because I believe I will see the results as I want. i absolutely loved doing Bikram yoga. This studio is very clean, loved the temperature of the room. Wonderful n motivating instructors who are there to talk to you n guide u. I was very sad to stop after 7 months of practicing.. due to some health issues n moving out of WC. it was the best medicine for mental health n for de stressing for me. The wife and I went here today for our first visit. I am not going to lie; it was tough to stay in an environment that pushes your body beyond what you are used to. The most significant factor that kept us from not running away was Laura, the owner and instructor; she was very supportive and frequently asked how we were feeling, which made us feel like we could continue. Also, the whole class was very supportive too. I would recommend this studio to all my family and friends, but I would suggest reading the instructions on how to prepare for your session on the website before going there because it will help prepare a person physically for the class read more

i'm surprised more people don't know about this place. i was also kinda hesitant to post this bc it feels like i'd be exposing a hidden gem lol. i haven't done hot yoga in about 3 years and needed to get back into it. i spoke with laura, the owner, to get signed up and it was a smooth process. she was super nice and sweet explaining everything. i've just gone once since my time back and my body already feels better. my first class was with alex and she was really chill and encouraging. i don't anything less moving forward. woo! *beware i hadn't done yoga for a while and i got so nauseous in the end, i couldn't even speak! i really thought i was gonna throw something up. i might've gone too hard in the beg or had a snack too close to class time. but def chill. i expect it to go away as i get used to DA HEAT. short-term misery, long-term reward! feeling greattttt!!! read more
