TALLY HO! Hey, this was a good place to eat in Wisconsin. Had a large group and the staff made sure we were taken care of efficiently. Had the chicken parm and it was A-Okay. First of all, this restaurant was good. Get the steak with the baked potato. You won't regret it. Having said that, be prepared to pay upscale restaurant, Chicago prices for your meal and drinks. My 6 ounce, steak dinner was $52. Also, the $18 martini and $15 glass of wine really threw me for a loop (especially because it was a teeny 'tini). The only reason I mention this is because we tried to find the prices online before we went but none were listed on the menu I saw on the restaurant's website. So, IF you don't mind paying very steep prices for a nice dinner out in northern Wisco, then go to Tally Ho. The complimentary relish tray was a nice touch but at prices like these the restaurant should forgo the cheap, plastic cups (with lids) they serve the pickled appetizers in. And the prepackaged crackers they come with should be replaced with something a little fancier. It was very tacky, and they could have presented the tray in a more tasteful way. Other than that, I recommend Tally Ho. It's overpriced for sure but it was good. Would I go back? Maybe but only for a special occasion. read more

Food was for the most part was tasty. The server was a young kid that didn't have any training. His timing was off and lots of lag time. Joey needs more training and he would be fine. He didn't suggesting sell desserts. We had to ask to see them and it took forever to see the desserts. We asked for a steak medium well and we got rare. read more

We just had a chance to renew a visit to Tally Ho. Our family has visited with the restaurant for many years. Simply put, please spend a meal/time with Tom and his family. Our meal felt like we just all spent a great night as a family. Very attentive/drinks were outstanding. Started with crab filled mushrooms. The 3 dishes we had were frog legs/great portion size. Tomahawk pork chop/filled the plate and Red snapper special. Each topped with asparagus. Good wine selection to satisfy most needs. A dessert tray can also be a nice final end to your meal. The ambiance was almost magical. We enjoyed a drink and a short wait at the bar then the owner seated us, and waited on us, and was a bit too handsy imo, but overall the experience was enjoyable. Cute little supper club. We had a reservation for 12 and the dining room was pretty busy. Lovely supper club atmosphere, decent cocktails and old fashioned customer service by the owner and other staff. Dinner rolls, salads and homemade dressings and soup were amazing. Entrees took a while which was okay but were not up to snuff when considering how high the prices were and did not all come out at the same time. Both tenderloins were overcooked (we did not send back as it would have taken way too long). Potatoes were lukewarm. Lobster was okay. Seafood plates were okay. Pasta dishes decent. Overall a good experience but the kitchen definitely had some difficulties, it sounds like someone was maybe out. The owner did send us home with complimentary shortcake. A couple other miscellaneous. items - they add a 3.5% card fee to the bill and they don't split checks. read more

This was the best meal we had while we were in Hayward Wisconsin. We hit all of our usual's Garmicsh, the Steakhouse, the Ranch, but the service here was unbeatable, and the food was delicious. While all the other restaurants were struggling to have adequate staff. Tallyho did an amazing job. I highly recommend them. read more

Tally Ho is very cute little supper club outside of Hayward. I went here many years ago as a child. I thought it would be fun to see the place again. We were greeted by the owner, who was very nice. Asked us right away if we had a reservation, which we did. Not sure if we really needed one, dining room never filled up completely. My husband had the Prime Rib, I had the Strip Steak special. The relish, tray, the rolls, the salads were all very good. I was very surprised that the Strip Steak was $63! Which we found out when the bill came. (we know now we should have asked the $$) That very high priced for an okay steak. My husband's prime rib was good, and cooked rare like he wanted. Waitress was very nice, and the young boys clearing the tables were very nice as well. Why the 3 * Not worth the price. If it was a high end restaurant maybe. Hope next year when we are back in Hayward the prices are adjusted and Tally Ho is still open! read more

We are supper club connoisseurs and give this place a 10!! Owner as present and welcoming, friendly. Chef came to our table to verify our steak temperature preferences. They were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth even when well done. The pork special fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Scallops to die for. What an unpleasant pothole during our family road trip. We were looking for something upscale on the drive to Michigan from Minnesota and looked on google for options. Up came the Tally-Ho Supper Club, with a great rating. I called ahead, made reservations, and arrived on time to a hostile atmosphere like something out of a bad sitcom. Right as we entered, the entire bar (obviously comprised of regulars who likely live there) stop conversing to stare and glare at our family. The bartender set a bottle down like we were intruding and suspiciously said, "Can I help you?" as if we were lost. I clarified we called ahead and were there for dinner. She said, "take a seat." We were not provided with menus and went totally ignored as more patrons (who were also obviously regulars) entered, were seated, and given immediate attention. My wife asked me, "What the hell did we do?" I shrugged. After ten minutes of being glared at without being served, we decided to leave and go elsewhere. If you're passing through Hayward on a road trip like we were, forget this pretentious dump. What a bunch of rude snobby jerks. We have enjoyed dining here in the past. Unfortunately, the last two times we tried to eat there, we had reservations which didn't seem to mean much. First time, we waited, and were seated an hour after our reservation time. Today, we gave up after waiting 30 minutes. I hope they can improve their reservation system, as we have liked their food in the past. read more

Buns where tough/chewy/greesy. Salad had brown/wilty pieces. Walleye looked great but didn't have much flavor and over cooked. A disappointment. With such high prices, I expected more. My walleye was delicious - large and juicy, but the asparagus spears were three soggy, skinny, wimpy pieces that I left alone. My baked potato was under baked. We had ice cream drinks after, but don't think there was any alcohol in them, that we could tell. Some enjoyed their meal more than I. I can only speak for myself. This place was like going to my grandparents house for Sunday dinner. The meal starts with a homemade charcuterie platter of various items; marinated olives, marinated beets, pickled herring, liver pâté', cheddar cheese spread. The prime rib, burnt ends dip was amazing. Husband had a steak and I had the fish boil. We topped our meal off with a red velvet cupcake. You could feel the "family" touch. Service was impeccable. Tally Ho was the most disappointing dining experience during our girls' weekend in Hayward. We decided to go there because one of our group members had dined there as a child (with different owners at that time). Well, when we were seated, a few people in our group wanted to leave right away because of the high prices on the menu. The prices were much higher than even fine dining restaurants in downtown Minneapolis. Well, we stayed to eat, but the food was disappointing. My fried walleye was soggy with oil and tasteless. Others at the table were not happy either. The employees were quite loud in the kitchen and the bar area. They were bickering, chatting and laughing loudly while guests were in the dining room. Not what you would expect from a fine dining supper club. As the saying goes, you can never go back. In this case, it was very true and cost us a lot of money. read more

My brother and sister in law wanted to go to a nice place to eat on their Anniversary on vacation in Hayward. They made reservations for 5 pm. on a Wednesday. We showed up at 5 and there were no other customers there and they made us wait for awhile to be seated. Then I asked about the specials I saw on the internet and they did not honor them and gave me an attitude when I asked about it and said you can't even get a hamburger at McDonald's for $20 anymore. The relish tray was tacky and small. The restaurant is family owned and they had younger boys walking around giving water to people and they were very crabby. We went there with a group of six and they didn't split the bill and when we asked them to split it it was a big deal to them. Despite vacationing in the area for my whole life, I'd never made it to Tally Ho. We corrected that this week with an early BDay dinner for the Mister. For the area, Tally Ho is a definite 5 stars. Wine: A It's really hard to find a place up here with a decent list so TH made me very happy. They've got a good 25-30 quality choices, mostly by the bottle. There are 5-6 quality glass choices and prices are reasonable with most bottles in the $25-35 range. Service: A Our server was a delight - we never lacked for anything and everyone here was genuinely friendly. App: B- We tried the bacon wrapped shrimp with chili sauce. The shrimp were large & delicious but the bacon wasn't crispy enough. I dd like the presentation which came with grilled pineapple. Yum! Entrees: A My 6oz filet was cooked properly & nicely seasoned. The Mister went with the pork chops as he had heard they were amazing & he wasn't at all disappointed. I'm used to the "chefs choice" veggies basically being crap but not here - the fresh beans WERE fresh - they were a little crisp and tasted like they'd been freshly picked from the garden. Supper Club Elements: A There are certain things I expect from an up-north supper club: a properly made Brandy Old Fashioned (present), a relish tray (duly delivered with cheese spread, tapenade and tasty fennel seed crackers), a dessert tray (which made me order peanut butter pie) and of course, an old-school interior. Tally Ho is pretty nice but it does have tacky plaid carpet which made me happy. Overall - TH is a pretty good drive from Hayward (and everywhere else for that matter) but it's definitely worth the trip. If you're coming from points east you'll drive through prime elk viewing country on 77, so you might see an elk. But you probably won't. read more
