Well, I just wasted $8.50 on the worst Bloody Mary mix I've ever tried. Actually, the entire experience was less than pleasant here. I walked up to the bar, was greeted by a woman with a sour look on her face, and ordered a non-alcoholic Bloody Mary. I asked for it to be spicy. I've been ordering these drinks with and without alcohol for about 40 years now: This was the only undrinkable one I've encountered. It tasted like Red Hot on the rocks. I took a couple of sips and had to go throw up in the bathroom. Not kidding. My stomach and mouth were on fire. I'm still sick over an hour later. The two people I was with ordered food and were happy with it. I only had this horrible drink. When the waitress came back a couple of times, my full drink sat in front of me. She didn't ask if something was wrong with it. The second time she came back to the table I told her she could take the drink, that it was not drinkable. She said their mix is hot. Understatement of the year! There aren't a lot of people up north who like things spicy. I, however, do. She was kind enough to leave the full glass and bring a bill for $8.50. I paid it. On the way out, I handed the full drink to the sour faced lady that had originally "greeted" me at the bar. I told her it was so hot that it was undrinkable. No offer of a refund. I told her it was a nice way to spend $8.50. Now I remember why we stopped going here. read more

Probably the best boasted chicken I've ever had! Came with a side of mash potatoes and gravy. Server was very pleasant and attentive! Returned for the hamburger and fries. Also very good. Trying the pizza next, which looks very good. Plenty of seating. I hope to be a regular! read more

If you find yourself in the Northwoods this is a stop you have to make. The pizza is absolutely amazing. Great wine/bourbon/whiskey selection. Right on Round Lake. Docks available if your out for a day and want to swing in. Service is excellent. Definitely recommend! read more

Called ahead stating we were going to sit outside because we had our goldens with us. Assured that was fine, but arrived and was greeted rather rudely by staff. We were told we could order off the dinner menu "if it wasn't busy". It was 3:45. Okay- but we were the only ones there! Very crowded and loud at 5 pm Sunday. This seems to be a bit with the tourists and locals alike. We met up with some relatives who were thinking we could eat outside, but they happened to pull all the outside seating the day before as their college age waiters were heading back to school. Most of us enjoyed a Sunday special of broasted chicken. I had sides of mashed potatoes/gravy and Cole slaw. At first bite I thought the gravy tasted really salty and the chicken a bit salty. The coleslaw was good-creamy how I like it. The chicken was delicious after I got past the first bite salty taste. I prefer to get meals unsalted so I can add my own as I try to use as less salt as possible. I was the only one who seemed to feel it was over salted. The pizzas are reported to be awesome so we will try pizza out next time here. They are in a location with lakes on both sides of the road so nice scenery if you want to sit outside. Off to the left side when entering the bar there is an ice cream room. Will be interesting to see if they keep that open during the winter. read more

Food was fresh and good, service was quick and accurate even though they were very busy, the environment was buzzing but also inviting.

Came in on a busy Friday night, owner greeted us immediately and let us know what the wait time was. Staff got our boys some popcorn and took drink orders for our wait. We were seated and waited on immediately. Owner again came by, apologized for wait. Cheese curds were great, vast wine/bourbon selection. We went with cheese pizza and a cauliflower crust pizza. Both were phenomenal. Dessert was our first ever brandy old fashioned and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommend for the atmosphere, selection, service and food. 10/10 read more

The Dock is consistently excellent. Have dined there many, many times and never once had a bad experience. Excellent Friday Walleye fish fry. Best pizza in the area. Nice selection of beers. Great atmosphere. Friendly and efficient service. Fair prices. My only downside callout is that it fills up very early on Fridays and Saturdays and you can't get a table after 5; but that reflects that people know its really great. We recently visited the Hayward area and weren't sure where to go for dinner until we found The Dock. It did not disappoint! We were there on a Friday so we were able to do either the fish fry or have one of their amazing pizzas that everyone was raving about. We met other people with cabins nearby, who told us the story of how the owner turned this restaurant into something so special they look forward to visiting it every time they come up. As soon as we walked in the owner asked me how many of us were going to be in our party and mentally took a note. Then walked away. I'll admit at first I was a little bit skeptical we were going to get a table as it quickly got more and more crowded by the front door, but true his word, we were the next in line and he gave us a great spot. We tried the cauliflower crust pizza, which was excellent, and just right for two people to share. We also both had a house salad with the Italian vinaigrette. I highly recommend it! The vinaigrette was delicious. Our kids had a cheese pizza and, of course cheese curds, chicken fingers and french fries. They were very happy! My husband was able to order a great bottle of red wine for the evening - which was surprising given the location as well as the ambiance... It doesn't necessarily scream "great wine selection." I can't say enough about this place. The staff was amazing. The owner was incredibly kind. We can't wait to go back! read more

We've been coming to our cabin in Spooner for 30 years and always enjoy visiting Hayward. Sunday we found ourselves downtown Hayward and most places were closed so we decided to drive further east and try The Dock. We are so glad we did. The service, food and location/atmosphere were all excellent. The pizza was so good we came back again today! Maria is an outstanding server and made our 2rd visit especially enjoyable. It's rare anymore to find a restaurant that can deliver on food, service and atmosphere. The Dock exceeded our expectations - twice! read more
