When locals in the food scene suggest a place, I always listen. Quick, affordable and tasty. I will be back

Ordered take out as I was not hungry enough to eat when I walked in...ordered the Nigiri Combo for…read more$39.95, which is 12 pcs of chef's choice nigiri. Requested for no ginger, more wasabi. Was looking forward to some sushi, been over a month, since arriving in BC from Toronto. Won't be running back here any time soon. Disappointed barely discribes my thoughts when I opened the container...3 pieces each of what appeared to be: salmon (different than what I'm used to), what looked like tuna and snapper. 1st disappointment: lack of variety, a sad looking "omakase" nigiri dish for $40! 2) The rice was not properly seasoned (sushi seasoning), nor were prepared well enough for the sashimi to stay on the rice while I dip into soy sauce (fish part, not the rice)...of the 12 pieces, I was only able to successfully do so with 1 piece, before putting in my mouth. 3) The tuna was slices too thick and too big of a piece to eat w/ the rice (despite falling apart before going in my mouth). This was below supermarket sushi, which I have had in the past, with little to no expectation of it being "good"...this was worse than that. I had hoped this would be my go-to sushi place, moving to SA...will have to try the "other" place before deciding whether sushi is something I have to travel to enjoy. Rating is 2.5, only because the young lady who served me was nice and pleasant.

My first time going to Oishii was a very calming experience since it was not busy. I ordered the BC…read moreRoll, which was good, and the Bulgogi Rice Bowl that I found more delectable. The people that served me were courteous workers. This is the place I would recommend trying in Salmon Arm.

We actually stopped in town to have late lunch at another restaurant that a friend recommended, but…read morewe passed Nagomi on the way, spotted a couple veg-friendly options on their menu, and the rest is history. The restaurant is quite small, but we got a seat at the window immediately after ordering at the counter. After that they were turning people away (mostly large groups which I don't think they'd be able to accommodate anyway). I had the tofu poke bowl (rice bowl with tofu, avocado, cucumber, wakame, carrot, sesame seeds, and green onion) and J. had the teriyaki crispy tofu bowl (rice bowl with fried tofu, cabbage, carrot, cucumber, teriyaki & sesame sauce). Both were quite salty to me, but also they were quite delicious. And large. I took half of mine to go and was grateful for the leftovers later. I will note that the bathroom situation was a little strange. You exit the restaurant and go down the hall where you'll find a single-occupant washroom. But there are two doors -- the one you came in and the one next to the toilet that goes into the kitchen. I peed as quickly as possible with my eyes on both doors the whole while praying no one would barge in either one. They did not. Maybe they don't use the kitchen access door, but I could clearly hear people right on the other side of it the whole while which was a little unnerving.

omg im in looove! the pan fried gyoza is sooo good and the california rolls +amazing serviceread more
