The first day in Revelstoke we stopped in for cocktails. Jasmine,our bartender, made us the best espresso martinis. We checked out the menu and the next day came for dinner. It was busy so we sat at the bar. We had a front row seat to all the action. Again Jasmine took care of us. Dinner was exceptional!! We decided to share, started with the best dish of broccolini and charred carrots, omg, I want the recipe. Our next course was the grilled salad, loaded with yummy lardon. We than split the ratatouille lasagne, absolutely delicious. The dinner was memorable due to the great servers and an amazing menu. We tried the British Columbian wine that was so good as well. The name has changed to chesterfield and the menu is a bit upgraded. We had a clarified old fashioned which was spectacular and a sour beer that was smooth but not as tarty as I like. The bison burger was exceptional with a balsamic mayo! The grilled hearts Caesar salad was fantastic! I rarely write reviews from a vegetarian perspective but this time it felt warranted. First of all, they have several tasty sounding vegetarian options. This place even has a house made veggie burger on the menu. A rarity in these times of impossible burger ubiquity. Even the soup of the day was vegetarian. (don't worry meat eaters, burgers, elk ragu, steaks, etc abound here) But, the thing that was so unexpectedly wonderful is I asked if they could serve something other than gravy to dip the cheese curds in. The waitress said she was sure they'd figure something out and lo & behold they made a little mushroom gravy just for me. What a kind thing to do. I honestly would have been fine with some ranch haha but this totally made my week. Anyway, for my main I got the bowl and it was terrific and so beautiful. Tons of fresh spinach topped with gorgeous pickled beets, carrots, squash, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, and pressed tofu... And I added the halloumi, which was delicious but not at all necessary. Passing through Revelstoke and looked at reviews for a place for dinner tonight. Despite mixed reviews, we chose Chubby Funsters with the fun name and menu list. We went early enough that it wasn't busy and were seated out on the patio. The patio is casual but nice and comfortable with a breeze. If you can handle the gnats and occasional flies, it is nice. Our server was attentive as soon as we were seated, taking drink orders, and then food orders when she brought the beverages. After 45 minutes more of not being able to get her attention, I wanted to believe she had more tables than she could handle. We had been seated for 55 minutes when the manager brought our meals. The poutine was fine, nothing remarkable. The burger was burnt and dry. It was ordered with cheese but came with bacon. When we asked the manager, her response was, "oh cheese and bacon are next to each other on the screen." She did ask if we wanted it made fresh but another hour was not going to work for us, so we kept what we had. No apologies nor discounts offered. After we finished our meal, our server did show to ask how the meal was. When we mentioned the burger, she said she made a mistake and asked if we wanted anything else, but we asked for the check. I'll go check out their sister restaurant next time. We should have paid heed to the mixed reviews. Meh. read more

Just the right amount of fresh crunch and saltiness. The deep fried cheese curds are definitely worth a try. The panzanella salad was good. The chubby burger was good but It was a little dry. Likely because the patty was slightly overcooked. Also didn't really taste the garlic aoili. The burger patty was warm but the bun was cold.... I like the bun warm too. The soup of the day was interesting in a good way. Pureed tomato and pepper with balsamic vinegar. Carrot cake was decent but I definitely like the apple pie better. We got to town late and stumbled here. Great choice! The staff is delightful. The environs fun. The food was clearly cared about and fresh and the prices reasonable. There is outside seating in front and out back, but at 9pm, we were warned about it getting buggy so we stayed inside (which was a little loud). We both had French Dip. I had fries and hubby had curry coconut, carrot, and apple soup The meat was perfect- flavorful and very tender!!! The crunchy warm bread was outstanding! (It's made there as we were told everything they can make in house they do). The au jus was terribly salty but no matter, the "sammy" didn't need it! My fries were crunchy but not very hot and could use some seasoning or salt. Hubby liked them. I thought the soup was delicious (with the occasional lemongrass twig, however) but not to hubby's taste which worked out well for both of us. They had a nice selection of beer on tap and delicious sounding cocktails- unfortunately they were out of the lavender for the nightly special. We had apple pie ala mode. The crust was outstanding. The apple filling was plentiful and quite unique and while not my preference, was good. (The apples were sliced super thin and stacked- like they were spiral cut. There was little cinnamon sugar filling and the apples were still on the crunchy side.) We had asked for the caramel sauce on the side because I was concerned about it being too sweet. The caramel was spectacular (and would have been fantastic over ice cream.) Since the pie wasn't very sweet, the sauce was a nice touch! Unless you are a sugar-fiend, I still recommend it on the side so you can adjust the sweetness to your taste. The slice was plenty big for two, though more ice cream would have been nice. We ate at this restaurant twice while we were in town. In both instances we sat at the bar and the service was excellent. The bartenders were very friendly and did a great job. The first time I was there I ordered the Pulled Chicken on pita bread. It was just ok. I wouldn't order it again to be honest. I think it was supposed to have BBQ sauce on in it but there wasn't any. I didn't say anything either. My husband ordered the Pb and J burger even though it sounds kind of weird he said it was quite good. The second time I ordered the zucchini pasta salad. It was awesome. It had feta, dried tomatoes, and the "pasta" part was zucchini. I think it had some other stuff in it too but I can't remember. Nevertheless I would order it again. For our appetizer we ordered the cheese curds, Oh so good! They were super fluffy and came with gravy. I could have ate a second order. Lastly, we ordered the bread pudding for dessert. Located in their quaint downtown district, we stumbled upon the restaurant based on how appealing it looked compared to their neighbors across the street. A very casual sports bar feel, without loads of TVs. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the employees were all very friendly and accommodated our rush order. I really wanted to try their gnocchi dish, but was sad to hear that the seasonal item has left the menu. I ordered the grilled chicken pita for convenience, and we had a sweet corn appetizer to start us off. The corn looked simple, but it was really good! For such a simple dish, it was wonderful! The sauce accompanying the corn was what made it so delicious, whatever that magical concoction was, it really hit the spot. My pita, was filled with an assortment of veggies and sides, the chicken was seasoned perfectly, and I liked the sauces and flavors that blended perfectly. Everyone was very attentive! We were skiing at Revelstoke and the dining options are limited on the mountain so we drove 10 minutes to town and used Yelp to find Chubby Funsters. Interesting decor, friendly staff and great food. We all ended up ordering burgers but there we were also tempted by a chicken and sausage gumbo and the Alfredo pasta. I ordered the bison burger and the house salad. Both the burger and the salad were really good. My partner had the burger special which was stuffed with all kinds of toppings including a lamb bacon, gruyere cheese and pastrami. A creative combination and all of the flavours complemented each other. Next time we are in Revelstoke we will definitely go back here. read more

Rather than stop at the busy chains on the highway, we decided to roll into town and spotted Chubby's. We were greeted and seated right away with menus and water brought immediately. I tried the burger special which had pineapple jam (sorry if I did not describe this 100% correctly) and the Mrs. had a chicken wrap. Meals came out quickly, hot and fresh! We paired our meals with ice cold pints of Old Style Pilsner (I remember my dad drinking this beer out of stubbies back in the 70s).
