The Tamarisk is a must try if you're ever in Green River. My husband's family likes to go on long desert rides to the San Rafael Swell, so they have been here a lot and highly recommend it! I've tried it a few times and love the vibes! For starters, the views are amazing. You can see the river from most tables. It's especially great if you get a table right by the window. This visit we were lucky enough to see a great blue heron in the water. Totally gorg!! For food, it is classic southwestern diner food. We started with the Navajo fry bread. It is on the denser side but still really good! I had the turkey bacon avocado sandwich and it was good. It could've used a sauce on it. I'm sure they'd provide one if requested. The sweet potato fries are amazing. 5/5 love love love! Everyone enjoyed their food. They were a little busy this time and the service wasn't as quick as usual, but we were all having fun hanging out. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would highly recommend!!

The fried cod is perfectly cooked in clean oil you can tell... I took photos everything including the abeyance and service is the bomb. Was recommended and now I pass that on to you!!!

Really happy we stopped in here on a cross country roadtrip. Food was delicious, server Anna was delightful, and clean restrooms. We love local places with authentic hospitality, and we'd recommend anyone stop here. Even bought a sticker and a geode from the small assortment of gifts and t-shirts near the register.

A T-bone steak with fire roasted corn and mashed potatoes was my order. Overall excellent food. Hardy and homemade accompanied by friendly customer service provided by a super hot waitress, I forgot her name, but it started with an A, lol, great location by the river and friendly small town vibe!

The Tamarisk Restaurant overlooks the Green River and, inside, is a very large lighted sign hanging from a wall that says RURAL & PROUD. There is, indeed, a sense of pride in this restaurant that has a long and varied menu. There are little design touches that make this an inviting place. It seems to be a beacon because the parking lot is often filled with the cars and big trucks of locals who are probably regulars. Portions here are large. My tasty gringo version of huevos rancheros for breakfast could have served two or three people. As I sat in the predawn looking out the floor to ceiling windows at the river while sipping my black coffee, this was the best seat in town. There are few restaurant choices but Tamarisk seems to do a good job of serving the community and the many travelers who stop in Green River on their way to more iconic places east and west of Interstate 70.

We really enjoyed our lunch at the Tamarisk restaurant yesterday. It has a great view of the green river and a friendly atmosphere. We were greeted warmly and seated and then our server Anna introduced herself and we asked her about any favorite menu items of her. She suggested that we try one of the fry bread tacos. How often are you going to have authentic Navajo fry bread topped with delicious taco toppings. There is a beef option in a chicken option. We got the chicken open face taco with guacamole, cheese, black beans, and roasted corn. It was incredible and definitely the right choice. You're not gonna find this anywhere else probably. It was plenty for us to share the single dish and we actually had a bit of leftovers to take home. Highly recommend stopping here. It's very scenic and the food is terrific as well as the service.

Strolled into green river and was looking for a nice spot for dinner. Tamarisk delivers with great food, superb service and just a nice relaxed ambiance. Solid choice.

Staying overnight in Green River and Tamarisk is really the only option in town for non-fast food. Fortunately it turned out to be a great option! We timed our visit for sunset and got seated immediately in a nice window booth facing west with a view of the river. The menu is extensive and has lots of options. We enjoyed a beer while looking the menu over. Tom ordered chicken fajitas which he liked - generous portion and the server added guac for no add'l charge. Served with the usual accompaniments plus cilantro rice and black beans. I ordered the 12 oz sirloin, med rare, plus mashed potatoes and gravy and steamed broccoli. The steak was cooked perfectly and the broccoli was nice and crisp. Mashed potatoes tasted homemade with, at my request, brown gravy. All good! Our server, a young man not yet old enough to serve alcohol, was really nice and attentive. Total tab before tip was $59. Would definitely return to this great local restaurant next time passing through.

Beautiful location with a view! Food was delicious we had the chicken salad, country fried steak, soup of the day and the peanut butter mocha! I recommend all the dishes! Staff was attentive and friendly! Definitely sit by the window if you can to see the River.

Welcome to a true oasis in Utah! You go here for comfort food and end up happy - definitely the best food and service option in Green River and for at least an hour's drive either direction. Dinner was even better than breakfast at the Tamarisk Restaurant! We especially enjoyed the "chicken fried" steak and chicken with fresh veggie options on the side. They make cocktails (super sweet!) and offer a nice little selection of wines. For breakfast I got an omelette that was overcooked with a very dense biscuit. Really wish I'd gone with the pancakes and sausage I saw other people happily devouring. The regular coffee here is great - and they have all the latte options as well. Beautiful view of the Green River from this charming restaurant - cozy, positive vibes inside. Note: We stayed overnight in one of the rooms downstairs and LOVED it - and your breakfast is included with the room price.

Seated quickly and listened to the waitress chat it up for 8 mins as we patiently waited to be served. Had to get up and ask if there was a waitress. She(Barb) finally stated what can I get for you. Put our orders in and Barb went to another table and started chatting with another couple. She just continued to yap and yap about personal stuff. Finally got our Navajo bread. Very tasty. Chicken fajitas had plenty of veggies but bland. Beans and rice needed salt. Wife enjoyed the chicken fried steak.

Navajo bread dish was good. Toasted bread on a sandwich was stale. Waitress was courteous and attentive.

The nice young waiter took us to a nice balcony with two tables, and said it would probably be 20 minutes before the kitchen opened back up for lunch. (We were fine sitting on the balcony enjoying the view.) We ordered ice teas and just relaxed after the drive down Unaweep Canyon. We both ordered the "Street Tacos". Now I have eaten street tacos for decades, and if streets were lined with gold, these might be the tacos they'd serve. Everything was perfect. The pulled pork was smoked and succulent, the carne asada was moist and flavorful, and the wild mushroom--yep tacos hongos!--were inventive and delicious. They piled them up like they assumed we were going to require a considerable energy expenditure in the near term. In other words, great good, and great portions at prices a resort in the middle of the desert needs to charge to turn a profit. I need a reason to pass through Gateway again.

It feels a bit outdated, but it's what makes this place its own kind of unique. I enjoyed it It's unfortunate how unstaffed this place is because it has a lot of potential. When we were here, there was only one waitress serving everyone. We felt so bad. But she still made her rounds and got us our food, just not as fast as we'd want it sometimes We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast! It wasn't always consistent. Sometimes we would order the same items, and different things came out with it. One instance, we tried some grain bowl and the first day it came with two pieces of toast, one with jelly and the other with peanut butter, but the next day both pieces of toast had peanut butter. Minor, but something you'd notice When we first received the breakfast menu, each side of the menu displayed the same card, even though my partners had different items. Just small things that added up to show the kitchen and staff maybe weren't that organized. The worst part of the restaurant is when we ordered food to go to eat in our rooms. We ordered two burgers, and I honestly thought the kitchen heated up a Big Mac. It tastes exactly like one, and even the buns had those sesame seeds like McDonald's. It was absolutely terrible It's really unfortunate, because the place has so much potential, but you can almost feel that the kitchen doesn't care.
