Super cute restaurant. Nice view of Green River from large windows. The service was friendly and prompt. We stopped because I grew up in Utah and really wanted a Ute scone. Wrong tribe, so we ended up getting Navajo fry bread, which was very good - but it wasn't a Ute fry bread scone. I only note that not for the quality, but in case someone else is looking for the Ute version. I had a Navajo taco, which was fry bread with chili, tomatoes, cheese, and lettuce. It was very good. My friend had some Chinese chicken salad, which was also very good. The only problem at all was the waaaay over abundance of tomatoes on top of both. There must have been 4 regular sized tomatoes cut up on our two plates. If you're in the middle of nowhere like we were and looking for good food, this is a win. read more

Ehhh... nice views and attentive service but the food leaves much to be desired. This is a popular restaurant stop along the I-70. I stopped here for dinner on the way back from Canyonlands National Park as it was the perfect halfway point between Moab and Price. I arrived around 6:30 pm and there was a bit of a wait. The hosts and staff were all really welcoming. I put my name on the list and waited outside on their front porch. About 20 minutes later, I was seated in a booth with a lovely view of the outside. Tamarisk sits right above the Green River and the views of the river are really beautiful. The restaurant has a very homey vibes and seemed to be packed with regulars during my visit. As far as the atmosphere goes, I can definitely see the appeal of this place. But the food?! Wasn't really impressed. My meal overall was very underwhelming. Maybe I ordered wrong. I'd usually go for a burger or a sandwich at a restaurant like this, but I was in the mood for something a tad bit lighter. Ended up ordering fish and chips with sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, and a side salad. The fries were good. Not great but how can you really screw up fries? I mean... I guess you can, but theirs' were decent. Nothing to gloat about. They didn't have any kind of special dipping sauce and I didn't really expect them to. The basics were good enough for me (ranch, ketchup, thousand island). The salad was actually fresh and plentiful. I honestly got damn near full trying to scarf that salad down. It wasn't anything spectacular; your average diner style house salad, but it was very tasty for what it was. Where they went wrong was with the fish. The fish was over-battered, too crunchy, and very salty. This thick batter definitely didn't belong on that fish. I believe they used cod and the batter completely overpowered the taste of the fish. I actually couldn't eat it. I tried peeling it off, but since the fish filets were so thin, I didn't have much success with that. Fish n' chips doesn't seem to be their specialty here, I can tell you that much. Again, maybe I should have went with something more American like a burger or a sandwich. In any event, the fish and chips were a bit disappointing. Wouldn't be opposed to trying something else here in the future if I find myself back in the area again. I just wouldn't get fish or any kind of seafood for that matter again. read more

Yelp is wrong that there are vegan options and "many vegetarian options", There is only one item: a "garden burger." They won't even make their tacos or enchiladas with beans instead of meat, even though they have beans as a side. Drinks are all out of a can, even the cocktails. No beer on tap. View of river would be nice but the blinds were closed the whole time. Still there is very little in the way of restaurants in Green River so you may have to eat here. You'll survive! read more

Came here on our from the Arches. We were quickly seated, and our waitress was AMAZING! She was friendly, kept our drinks filled, and checked on us often. The bread was hot, soft, and delicious. Our dinner salads were a good size and fresh. The steaks were cooked to order with a tasty marinade. The sweet potato was hot and huge! Two people could easily split it. The liver and onions were perfectly cooked and had a mild flavor. We had a piece of homemade chocolate cake to go, and the smell has been tempting us to take a bite all the way to the hotel. We were a bit confused when we walked into the restaurant since there is a coffee shop, extra seating, and souvenirs near the hostess area. The dining area has a beautiful view of the river. We've been here for breakfast twice and dinner once. Was traveling from New Mexico to Yellowstone/Grand Tetons and came through here on our trip up and made sure we came through on our way back. In fact on our way back, we boondocked north of Moab and came back to Green River for breakfast and the John Wesley Powell museum. Breakfast is fresh tasting and delicious. Same can be said about dinner. Service is excellent. Views outstanding if you get a booth on the river (we did for two meals). We had the fry bread appetizer to start and it was very good! My daughter had the beef dip sandwich and loved it, the meat was more like pot roast than sliced roast beef. Instead of being greeted when I entered, the woman at the front desk snapped at me, and that should have been a stronger indication to immediately leave. Isn't it bizarre how people in hospitality can be so clueless/lazy? General FYI, when someone enters your facility, say "welcome." If you don't like that kind of task then you are probably in the wrong career. Unfortunately, I want to support up and coming local businesses so I looked past her complete lack of self awareness. I waited about 10 minutes to order because the coffee bar was backed up with the 2 beverages ahead me. For that reason, I thought I'd go with something simple- an americano with room. After another 5 minutes, my drink was ready and I paid. The computer was taking a moment to process, so I went to the restroom. It's now been another 5 minutes. When I came back, the rude woman from the front desk had come over to the register and was angrily stomping around, seemingly confused over her inability to operate the computer. She didn't apologize to me for the delay at any point. Instead, she made multiple comments about not knowing how to use the equipment. I then thought I'd mentioned that I had received the charge notification to my phone (10 minutes ago now). She then snapped at me again "THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WENT THROUGH." Disgustingly rude. Seriously though, what does it mean? The bank thinks I made a purchase and is showing that charge in my account with the money subtracted. So anyway, this person's mass confusion went on for another 5 minutes with no apologies whatsoever. I then decided to suggest, "what if we cancer the charge and just run it again?" This time, the belligerent woman shouted "THERE'S NOTHING TO CANCEL!" Wow. Just wow. Sometimes I wonder how people like this survive an ordinary day and what that must be like. I am in honest disbelief at this point that I made a detour from a drive for this chaos and madness. Eventually she runs my card again and I am handed a cold americano with cream in it... I asked for room because I had my own organic cream that I planned to use... So basically, I made a 30 minute detour just to tourture myself and receive something I didn't order. But the real icing on the cake- I was charged twice (see attached bank statement) in the end as well. In conclusion, I do not recommend stopping here if you are just passing through as the customers service is horrendous and your sanity is worth something. read more

I'm glad I arrived early for dinner! This must be the only decent place to eat in the area, because there were 15 people waiting comfortably inside & outside when I left. And the food is very tasty with large servings. I had the Navajo Taco, which is a filling dish that I love, but the menu has a good selection of dishes including Chili Lime Steak, Asado de Puerco, and Coconut Tilapia. Server was excellent, handling the crowd efficiently and skillfully. Why has it taken me 4 visits to this amazing establishment to write a review?! Probably because I was in a sugar coma and thanking my lucky stars it was open when we passed through Green river! The first time we came here was on a lark as we were passing through the area on a cross country drive, now we come on purpose every chance we get. That cinnamon roll calls to us from across the miles. As true aficionados of the roll that is cinnamon, we can say with authority that this one is worth the trip. The staff is kind and helpful and the view is pleasant of the river. The rest of the menu is good as well. BUT if you only get one thing to eat, rock that cinnamon roll, and if you have 2 things to eat get two. Till we see you again as we cross this wide country, we will dream of that bun. read more

The nachos, chicken quesidilla, and the green chili chicken breast (came out with ham on it and pepper jack cheese)...I don't even know what to say but I think we could have done better ordering this from a gas station or a movie theater. I'm sad we drove past Denny's. We are just passing through Utah on a cross country move so we were looking for a cute place with lots of options, but we didn't make it through the first few bites before deciding it was time to go.
