Road trip restaurants can be a gamble. It was my turn to choose where our group went for lunch. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, Tamarisk Restaurant proved to be the perfect choice. Food was great - the Southwest entrees came with homemade tortillas. Service was prompt and friendly and we enjoyed a nice road break in a comfy booth for four with a view of the Green River. We just stopped in here on our way from St George, UT to Glenwood Springs, CO. The menu was so perfect for us. Lots of salad options and delicious sandwiches on fresh artisanal style bread. Hamburgers were on fresh homemade buns. My son loved his hamburger. He added bacon and cheese to a plain hamburger. The bacon on his burger and all sandwiches was thick cut and delicious. I substituted a regular side with my sandwich for a dinner side salad with chipotle lime balsamic dressing which was very yummy and fresh. My other son had ribs with fire roasted corn and fries. The fries are the double dipped super crunchy and delicious kind. Our service was great and we were greeted with a smile and polite conversation on the way in. We were sat right by the window with pretty views of the Green River right outside. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean. I've had Indian fry bread at several places over the years, but this was the best by a wide margin. The quality of the bread was just so good and the serving size was quite substantial. Truly worth the detour off the interstate, definitely happy I went. Service was good and the restaurant itself is nice inside, but I got my food to go. read more

Beautiful views of the sunset on the river as we ate dinner. All of the staff were friendly, multiple people stopped by our table to speak to us. The fry bread with honey butter was so good, I would stop by again just for that! I had steak fajitas and my husband had the chili burrito, both were very good but such large portions we couldn't finish all of it. They sure were busy the night we were there. The area doesn't have many options for food so you're kind of stuck choosing from only a few places. The service was friendly but lacking. We placed our order and 25 minutes later our server came to tell us it never got put in to the system. We ordered again and the food came out about 10 minutes later. It was hit and miss. Wow! We tried Ray's in town but they were closed for December and sent us here. It was fantastic!!! Simply fantastic. I got one pork chop. It was lunch! $14.00. The chop was done perfect; crisp and juicy. Got the soup and toasted corn. Both excellent. Our party also had the Chicken Caesar, fry bread and the French Dip. Everyone loved their choices and we took 2 boxes home with leftovers. Prices were equally good. The view is all glass of the Green River and the music was just the right volume and type. We were able to order through the website! The food looks great. Got 2 salads and a sandwich. The inside decor looks good. There were cute things to purchase at the door. Next time we will dine in since it does have a view of the Green River. This would be a 5 star review, if we were greeted and given our to go order. While staying in Green River we tried this restaurant based on a YouTube video about vacationing in Utah. We are so glad that we ate here. This place is great. Great food, big portions, and friendly staff. We actually ate here every day for the three days we were in Green River. We had the Navajo Taco, The Navajo Taco Salad, the Hamburger Steak and for breakfast we had the Breakfast Burrito and Pancakes. They also have a bistro coffee shop and have huge cinnamon rolls. It was all good. We never left dissatisfied. If you find yourself in Green River you need to eat here. You also get a great view of the Green River. read more

Had we known we would have asked to get a seat with a view of the river. So if you go an don't mind waiting know this is an option. Very friendly staff. I chose a dish that was marked as one of their specialties. Where we sat it was bright and open and had a TV. The chicken was crispy and flavorful. All ingredients fresh and great. We were charging our car at the Tesla supercharger in Green River (I'll be reviewing all the charging stations we stopped at on our road trip to Colorado from California in other posts), when we saw the Tamarisk Restaurant across the street. After reading positive reviews about the restaurant, we decided to give it a try. It was a Wednesday night around 7pm. The restaurant overlooks the Green River. It was lovely watching sunset. The ambiance and the service from Savannah was memorable, but unfortunately the food was not. We had a Turkey bacon avocado sandwich which had a hamburger bun as the bread. It was turned upside down so they could crisp it up in a panini press and you could plainly see the grill lines. 2 thin slices of Turkey. My chosen side was the potato wedges which were sadly undercooked and soggy 3/5. We also had a southwestern pork dish. The pork itself was flavorful, but the side of beans were cold, the cole slaw and the Spanish rice were very dry 2/5. Would we come back? It's a small town and not very many food choices especially by the Tesla chargers, so it's a definite maybe. Ample parking in a private lot. Tons of motels in the area. Clean. Very busy. read more

We sat right by the window overlooking the Green River with a mesa in the background. I had the Navaho fry bread and hubby had the chicken fajitas. Tamarisk Restaurant is was such a great find. The restaurant looked more modern than I anticipated, giving it the interior such a bright and refreshing ambience. There was a cute little gift shop on the left side when entering the front. The host sat us by the window, which had a wonderful view of the Green River. I ordered the Southwest Navajo Fry Bread which comes with chicken, corn, black beans, and mozzarella cheese loaded on top of the flatbread. They'll give a side of chips upon request. The menu says it comes with rice, but it didn't...it must've been replaced with the grilled corn, which was delicious. The dish comes with either green or red sauce. The server recommended the red sauce for the dish. Food was super tasty and a HUGE portion. I needed help finishing the rest of it. The red sauce had so much flavor and complimented the dish perfectly. Since I stayed in the area, I ended eating here again the next day for dinner. I ordered the Coconut Crusted Tilapia with cilantro rice, broccoli, and homemade mango salsa. The fish was tender and flavorful. The cilantro rice went perfectly with the fish. The view of the river and atmosphere were lovely, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to it. My burger was overcooked and dry -- basically cardboard -- and my wife's enchiladas and rice tasted like something from the grocery store freezer section. The potato wedges were also nothing special, more like reheated grocery-store sides. Service was fine and the setting is nice, but overall the food just wasn't worth it. This is our go to for Dinner every time we drive through from San Diego to Colorado! We love their Sandwiches and really all the salads and other entrees we have tried are great! I am a bit surprised on the reviews. First of all, if you do not want to stop in Moab since it's too touristic, this is a great spot with a nice view of the river. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food was decent but not amazing. I ordered the coconut shrimp and mahi special with their vegetables of the day and a baked potato. Mahi was very overcooked . The coconut shrimp was good. Veggies were ok and baked potato was just that...they don't serve it loaded. My husband had the t bone steak special and they overcooked it and was dry. Side salad was good. They do serve wine and beer but you do have to order food, even an appetizer will do...remember Utah laws are different. Overall just ok and better than waiting around to be seated in Moab and dealing with parking spots! Plenty of parking here especially for big trucks. read more

A popular spot, for sure. Most people come for the cool view, but the food is just as much a star. We sat in a booth with a great view of Green River. People were literally asking to be moved to the window seats as groups were leaving. Like this is what people come here for. Service was great and prompt, especially with a full restaurant and only one server. Navajo Taco. All the goodies on top and the hidden gem on the bottom (fry bread). I think the salsa is what brings this dish to the next level though. We ordered a cinammon roll to-go and they put the icing in its own cup so it would be fresh when we got home. Spent a night in Green River and food choices are a bit limited. Tamarisk had a high ranking, so decided to give it a try. Had a 20 minute wait and they have a nice shopping and seating area while you wait. Service was very attentive but the food was really mediocre. Had a cup of the soup of the day, which I thought was going to be a green chili adovada with pork. It was watery and really didn't have enough chili flavor but green chilis were abundant although the meat was ground up. Also ordered the Quesadilla Chiliquiles with carne asada. We were staying in green river for the night during a trip from Houston to SLC. We didn't want fast food so decided to eat here and are glad we did. For a restaurant in the middle of nowhere the food was really good. I just wanted something familiar so I got the chicken strips, mashed potatoes with cream gravy and a side of steamed broccoli. Everything was scratch made, the chicken strips were fresh and hand breaded and the broccoli was fresh steamed, not frozen steamed. My husband got the bacon wrapped hotdog on a bed of fries smothered with chili and cheese. What he loved was that they actually tossed the fries in the chili so every fry was covered, instead of just throwing chili and cheese on top. He said it was absolutely great. I tasted the chili and agree it was good. Most important thing to not miss is the fry bread with the strawberry puree. Order extra puree, you're gonna want it. Omg. It was delectable! I was very hungry when I arrived so excuse the photo with bites taken lol. I had been hiking and no real meal for the day. Green river is not much to visit or look at and rather quite run down. I was looking for a place to eat and was nervous to try anything. There were basically five options so I opted for this place. The burger had great flavor and had a slight kick to it. The fries were cooked perfectly. I was offered the Utah magic sauce which tasted like ketchup and mayo. I was told this is what it was. Not a huge mayo fan so I would say not for me. Sadly, it was spring break and there was multiple very noisy 3 to 12-year-olds. I counted 20. This is not their fault, but it was not a peaceful or restful encounter. We started with the Navajo fry bread -- basically funnel cake, but in biscuit form, served with butter and jam. Definitely a must-have on the menu, it was a unique, delicious appetizer. We also tried a couple of the chicken entrees, including chicken fried chicken (no, that's not a typo) and one of the healthier California-style dishes. Both were great, the chicken was cooked perfectly in each, and the sides hit the spot.
