Cooper is now three years old (he's our big Labrador/Newfoundland mix, over 100 pounds!), and Sadie is 11 (our sweet American Pitbull and Siberian Husky mix). From the moment my husband and I arrived, Angel was prompt, kind, and ready to take great care of them. Even though it was busy, Angel greeted us right away as soon as we walked in the grooming door. She checked us in smoothly and handled Cooper and Sadie with so much patience and love. What really stood out to me is how calm Cooper has become thanks to consistent visits, Angel even mentioned how proud she was to see how well he's grown into the grooming routine. It means so much to us to know that our dogs feel comfortable and safe with her. Their coats came back shiny and beautiful (I always get the Furminator treatment!), and they looked so happy and well cared for when we picked them up. Angel truly goes above and beyond, not just for our dogs, but for everyone's. It shows in how my babies react when they see her, they know they're in good hands and their whole energy calms down. Instead, we came home without our dog. Before the procedure, my husband specifically expressed that he did not want to leave until Willow was under anesthesia. We were told that she was asleep, so we left believing she was safely under and being cared for. Less than 15 minutes later, my husband received the call that Willow was gone. During the procedure, we were informed that Willow experienced serious breathing difficulties and that her condition rapidly deteriorated. What has made this experience even more upsetting is everything we learned afterward. Based on conversations and information provided to us, I was left with serious and deeply troubling questions about how Willow's emergency was handled, including the airway difficulties, the timing of anesthesia, and the response when her condition became critical. The more information we received, the harder it became to understand how a dog who went in for a small tumor removal never came home. As Willow's family, we trusted this hospital with her life. That trust was shattered. One interaction that particularly stayed with us was being asked multiple times whether we planned to sue. In the middle of grieving and trying to understand what had happened to Willow, that question felt deeply upsetting and inappropriate to us. Rather than helping answer the questions we had about our dog's death, we were left feeling even more uncomfortable and unsettled by the conversation. I am sharing my personal experience and the information that was communicated to me. I cannot speak to anyone's intentions, but I can say that I have serious concerns about the care Willow received and the way the emergency was handled. What was equally heartbreaking was the lack of compassion we felt surrounding the loss of our dog. Losing a pet unexpectedly during a procedure is traumatic enough. Feeling like you are left with unanswered questions afterward makes it even worse. I would never trust Northwood Animal Hospital with one of my animals again. Every pet owner has to make their own decision, but I strongly encourage anyone considering this hospital to ask detailed questions about surgical procedures, anesthesia, emergency protocols, and exactly how complications are handled. Willow was not just a patient or a procedure on a schedule. She was our family. My husband specifically asked not to leave until she was safely asleep. We were told she was. Less than 15 minutes later, we were told she was gone. We dropped off a dog we loved and trusted them to care for her. We came home without her. That is something we will never forget.

The owner ended up cutting one of my dogs nails short to where it bled nonstop. On another paw the vet said they yanked out his toenail.. it was gone. I cannot say the same for the groomers. I had to remind them to clean my dog's ears several times. My poor Yorkie looked terrible several times after being cut there. He looked like a rat. One time they didn't cut the hair from around his ears and I thought his ears were flopping on their own as I never had a yorkie before. It was because they didn't cut the hair on his ears. But, why???? There was an issue almost every time I got my dogs groomed and I grew unhappy over time. Before I put the blame all on Kathy's business, it was my fault for canceling at the last minute quite a few times. So, I can imagine how frustrating that was for her. We finally ended our relationship today when she told me the groomers told her they did not want me to return. I was with Kathy's grooming for 11 years. I will miss her.
