Our first visit was ok at best. My children had a good time although I was unimpressed. The facilities were definitely dated to include the restrooms and the ran down skates. One pair of skates laces could not be tied and I returned them for a slightly better pair. The cost of skate rental for three and two skate helpers was $72 and open skate was for a total of 90 minutes. If you wanted to skate again in the same day you must pay again. On our second visit as part of a playdate we had an even less desireable experience. My son had a really bad fall while I happen to not be on the ice. After hearing him scream out in pain ran I ran to his rescue. The attendant was not present. The employee whom ultimately assisted us wasn't even on the ice but appeared to be taking out trash. While he was very helpful, the attnedant came and gave a half hearted apology which I felt she was told or forced to give. The entire experience was unfortunate because we live 10 minutes from this location however I will never return to pay that kind of money for such service and dilapidated facilities.

My daughter and I had a great time at TBS. We went over for the Sunday open skate session. Admission for two, with skate rental, was $31. Quick signature on the release form and we were off for the 2 hour session. Not too busy. Rink was clean and had a fresh sheet of ice. We took a break half way through and enjoyed some popcorn and a soda. Staff was friendly. We will definitely be back!

I play hockey and I keep trying to give this rink a fair chance but it's impossible. They can't keep managers longer than a few months. Front desk experience is like wading thru mud with kids behind the counter with attitudes. The place is falling apart, dirty, the pro shop is terrible (do NOT get your sharpening done there- the kids ruin blades and have no clue) and their stock is old and over priced. The ice is fair to poor. The south rink is always a sauna with soft wet ice and the north is just fair ice. The locker rooms are foul. Snack bar dirty. Everything is moldy or crusty. Everything is far more expensive than any other rink, even Wesley chapel but that doesn't phase them. They still don't even try. CIA is marginally better.

Met with our scout troop for an outing. Rental skates offered in both beginner or hockey skates. Toddler skate walkers available for beginners $4.00 up-charge. Officials on the ice kept everyone going in the same direction. Bring a jacket and gloves it's cold inside and colder if you spend time getting up and down off the ice! Great place for birthday parties. Open skate offered 4-6pm then it's hockey leagues and games you are welcome to watch. Friendly and helpful staff. Super value for a fun afternoon.

This is an okay rink that could use a refresh, but there is a 'warm' room with a partial view of the rink and a snack bar - I've never ordered anything, but I see people eating from it pretty frequently so it can't be too bad.

My friends and I planned to go here for an ice skating day on our school holiday yesterday and we came in a gigantic group to the skating rink, and they refused to give us a group discount. We were a group of probably thirty people, it was ridiculous, we had to end up paying full price at around $12 each instead of maybe $7-$8 each. They old us we had to book in advance, but that's kind of retarded. People wouldn't make groups of random people just for discounts, and even if they did, a group is a group. The only reason we still skated there was because it was a really long drive that we took to get there. I tried some crispy french fries there and they were pretty good even though it took quite some time to take. The fitting place for ice skating has some kinks to it and they cannot really match up your real shoe size to ice skates, almost everyone complained that their ice skates were either too big or too small and they had no half sizes. The music was alright, but faint and not nearly on par with the Brandon Ice Sports Forum's music and DJ. They weren't clearing the floor to resurface the ice so eventually towards the end ice started building up on the floor and dirt and cracks were easily visible. My friends and I had fun, but it was no thanks to the Tampa Bay Skating Academy.

Masks are not enforced. Front desk lady does not wear a mask to greet customers. Some kids wear them, some not.

Does anyone have the information on the private hockey lesson or the coaches info? My daughter did it last year but I can't find the info anywhere on the website?

This fall, we have been to two birthday parties at SkateWorld, and I think they were significantly superior to the party at United Skates. Better neighborhood (no metal detector), easy skate rentals, easier check in. Food was similarly bad (looking - I didn't taste), but there were more options to order if you wanted something other than pizza (they had wings, sandwich platters, etc.). If my daughter decides on a skating party in the future, we'll be coming to SkateWorld rather than returning to United Skates. My only concern is the parking situation. There's no problem for the Sunday parties, but on a Saturday, there really isn't enough parking for the venue capacity.

The instructor session is at very good time on Saturdays and Coach Joe is awesome instructor! The public sessions are long enough to get kids tired and adults take break in between skate runs. They have some fun games and fun activities. The benches are clean and seems to be new. Their food was good and at reasonable price.

We went here recently for a Child's Birthday Party and had an excellent experience!…read more For starters, I was really impressed with the quality of the skating floor. We've been to some rinks around here and the floor is really greasy/oily. If you know, you know that really makes it hard to fully maintain full control when turning and cutting. We also really appreciated that they had a little corner of the floor tucked away for the little skaters. Our little one loved it over there as an escape from the crowd and more experienced skaters. Also, in the larger sizes they had some really nice roller hockey style inline skates. I don't think there are enough of those to cover all sizes, but if you are lucky enough to get a pair, they definitely looked legit. We'll definitely be back to this location again. The DJ also played a good mix of old school vs new school music.

Unfortunately, our experience hosting a birthday party at Astro Skate was very disappointing. We booked a party for my granddaughter's 8th birthday, reserving space for up to 20 children. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess, Dorthy, who informed us she would be assigned to our party. Four tables were reserved for us, which was appreciated, though they were not set up at the time. Since the party was not scheduled to begin until 3:30, this was not initially an issue, especially as I had brought themed tablecloths from a birthday kit I purchased separately. Once the party began, we realized that our hostess had not returned since our initial check-in. When guests began asking for drinks, the stepfather went to locate her. She eventually brought five pitchers of drinks, but no cups. When cups were requested, only five were provided. Thankfully, I had brought cups as part of the birthday kit. We next saw the hostess when she asked whether I wanted pizza for 16 children (the number who attended) or the full 20 originally reserved. Since the pricing is based on the number of children who attend, I did not understand why ordering pizza for 20 would be necessary or beneficial, as it would have resulted in paying extra for minimal additional food. I confirmed pizza for 16 children. The pizza took a very long time to arrive. When the stepfather checked on the delay, he learned that our pizzas had mistakenly been delivered to another party and had to be remade. Once the pizza finally arrived, drinks again ran out, and we had to seek out staff ourselves for refills. After the children finished eating, we handled most of the cleanup ourselves, including clearing trash and returning empty pizza pans to the snack bar. At this point, I attempted to speak with a manager. The employee at the front stated she would notify the manager, but no one came. I later learned the manager was DJing and approached him directly. He appeared genuinely surprised that our hostess had been absent and that we had been handling the responsibilities ourselves. Someone was briefly sent over to assist. Trash was removed, drinks were refilled, and an extra pizza tray (from an additional pizza we purchased for adults) was cleared. After that, once again, no staff were present. The next and final time we saw our hostess was when it was time to settle the bill. In total, we paid approximately $300, which seemed to cover little more than 16 admissions and two pizzas. Given the lack of service, it would have been far more cost-effective to simply have everyone meet us there rather than booking a party package. We did the majority of the work ourselves, including cleanup and repeatedly seeking out drinks. The purpose of assigning a hostess is unclear if they are not present or providing assistance throughout the event. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet expectations for a hosted birthday party.
