This place is basically my family's second home. My daughter has been playing hockey here for over 2 years and we love it! There are so many different levels of play for the kids, from their in house Rex teams, to the new metro style travel team, to their national travel team. There's something for every age level. Plus, the have an amazing program called Learn to Play where they have teamed up with the Tampa Bay Lightning and provide all the equipment and gear for first time players under the age of 8 so they can learn the game! You just pay a low fee for the ice time for the 8 week program! It really is an amazing opportunity for kids! Only downside is the building itself. The "pro" rink is the newest rink and it's really nice, but the older rink! Next to the front of the building, the "Lightning" rink, is literally falling apart. Ceiling insulation has fallen off and into the rink from time to time and they just duct tape it back up and in the bleachers you are constantly being dropped on by god know what. Kinda gross, but parents do what we gotta do to watch our kids succeed! Plus the lack of parking is sometimes a nightmare, so get there early for games! read more

If you read enough of my reviews you'll know one thing about me: I love Hockey. I've had the privilege and pleasure of playing in rinks from coast to coast with and against a variety of players and skill levels. Clearwater Ice Arena is not remarkable in its physical appearance. It's very run of the mill. An aging facility with so-so ice surfaces. But if you've skated on ice in any rink outside of a big hockey market they're all pretty similar. Little known fact outside of hockey communities is that rinks have a soul. And that is determined by the people that comprise the community. The skaters, players, refs and staff (from the front desk to the pro shop and the Zamboni drivers to the skate rentals). Clearwater Ice Arena has a great soul. The people and the community is wonderful and inviting. Unfortunately you won't discover that in a two hour open skate. read more

Facility was clean and staff are nice but I definitely wouldn't call it a public skate. Went for a public skating session at 12:30pm on a Monday. Quickly filled up with group and private lessons on both ends of the rink. More like public skating sessions hugged against the wall to avoid these groups. read more

This arena has gone downhill so quickly. The front desk staff is rude and won't help you. Whatever happened to the customer always being right? You pay over $3000 to be treated like garbage from staff that have no idea what they're doing and make you feel like you're the bad guy. Prices have gone up for everything. I dread walking in the place now. Used to be a decent arena. The front desk talks trash about other customers. Niiiccceeee. The pro shop at CIA is a joke. Worst sharpening. Very limited stock. Prices are way too high, especially for old stocks and skates. What do they think- pay more for something you can get online for half as much? How stupid do they think people are? They "renovated" one ice sheet and it's worse than it ever was. Stay trashy, CIA. read more

we love this place! we come every time the kids have off of school... meaning we visit frequently and normally we're greeted with kindness and excitement. However, this time we were greeted with rude employees who were having an extremely inappropriate conversation about illegal substances. When my 7 y/o and I walked in the employees failed to end this conversation and continued to loudly talk about this topic in front of her... the employees were two young girls and a guy. I am very disappointed in this behavior of the staff in a place meant for families. We love coming here, but if it is not going to be a place for children we will have to find another ice arena. read more

Great arena close by! Love the pro rink! Been going to for years and prices have gone up for skate and shoots as use to be $15 now it's around $24 which is kind of a lot for only having 75 minutes to 90 of ice time... they should have an option of annual pass for hockey skate & shoots and not the 12 pass thing they do as isn't much of a break.. Highly recommend doing hockey skate & shoot annual passes!!! read more

The best ice rink in Clearwater! Between the ice being super smooth, a friendly staff, and the best popcorn around, this is my favorite place to watch hockey outside of Amalie Arena. They offer ice skating classes, youth and adult hockey, and open skate nights. read more

omg what a blast ... my daughter and husband took their son - step son skating no one really there. They were told by one woman on the ice be careful because she was practicing for figure skating ... the kids reminded her this is public skate ... it needs more up dates ... I took pictures as I got to hold my granddaughter the problem is the glass is so scratched up you can barely see from the waiting area. Staff ahhh not attentive .. the same individual at the from desk is the same person that operates the snack bar ... I stood in her view for about 10 minutes till I finally called over and asked if the snack bar was open. The same person came over lol oh well The kids had a blast zipping around the ice and that's all that matters ... I would take them back its like a private ice rink.. :) read more

This place is huge... and cold. I love when I go to a ice rink and you see some snacks, beer, wine and coffee. You definitely need something to help warm the soul with these temps. To bad the food items are limited and can be found at a circle k. The beer and wine selection is tiny as well. Seriously, a few different beer cans to choose from and 3 on draft. Nothing fancy.. There is a pro store shop that sells hockey and ice skating gear as well as a mini arcade. 3-4 games nothing big. I do wish that there was a warm or enclosed area to sit and watch practice or games. Because it's one of the coldest rinks I've been to. Plan a day of public skating where you rent skates and practice. Take lessons here from pros or play in a beer league here. This rink has everything you need to be on the ice. read more

If I could give negative stars of this place I would. Used to be a pleasant to go when we started there 2 years ago. Now all it is to the owner Dr Rose is dollar signs. Does nothing to help the kids achieve any goals and has staff that could care less on how to treat people (especially the head of the ice skating department Rachel Duckworth) They should really be ashamed on how they have ran this place into the ground. I wont ever bring my children back here unless it is under complete new ownership and staff. Sad because it really had some great potential read more

Great place to bring the family I bring my boys. You have the choice to sit outside or indoors where it is warmer. They have the helpers for the little ones, and I also have seen older individuals using them as well. When I have went it is not as crowded, which is a plus. I bring my three boys ages 8, 7, and 6 years old they really have a blast. If you bring your own skates the price is 10.00. Of you plan on skating more then a few times it only makes sense to buy your own skates. You can purchase a pair on amazon for fairly cheap. I recommend Jacksons. Make sure you tighten your skates around your ankles and your child's ankles or it will be almost impossible to skate. The open skate sessions for the public are from 7:00-10:00 pm usually which is a full three hours to skate! I love this place hands down. I would give it 10 stars!!!! read more

So my friend and I decided to take our two daughters (12 yrs old) ice skating on Sunday for open skate from 3:30p-5p. I found a coupon in my brand new 2014 Enjoy the City coupon book and thought wow we will save some money. When we arrived the parking lot was packed and after driving in circles I dropped off the girls and my friend. I then proceeded across the street, but it was a tow zone so I called the ice rink and they said you should be fine if you pull onto the side walk on the side of the road, I did and I was fine. When I went in I learned that they would not honor the coupon because of new ownership, that is just wrong, the coupon is valid through 12/31/2014 you think you'd want to make people happy - wrong. The customer service from the get go stunk. They were not helpful and the place was packed with 3 huge birthday parties leaving no where for my friend and I to sit and watch the girls skate outside of the freezing rink area. We almost got attacked by one party who was not using all of their chairs when we tried to sit down. There were no skaters helpers (the metal push/walkers) for my daughters friend who has never ice skated before, well there were a bunch by only for the birthday parties and although they were not using them all the people working there refused to give us one. It was way over crowded with too many people on the ice. Over all the place is not run well and we won't be back. read more

So we planned my 8 year old granddaughter's birthday party three weeks in advance. We showed up and there were 3 dirty tables in the room. No one knew what was going on. Another family was there for their party with the same issue. 15 min. before guests were to show up we were scrambling decorate with what little 'extras' we brought with. They put the kids in a room across the building from the rink they were using right next to a league game. The girl who took the orders for the party apparently quit and the girl who then came to see if we needed help was high as a kite and blew up a few balloons, which was helpful, and a dirty ripped table cover and a sleeve full of styrofoam cups were provided. They hadn't ordered the food either when my son went to ask. They were going to charge 200+ for this nonsense. Who does that to an 8 year old kid? They promised an extra half hour of skate time then shut things down instead, turning the lights out and locking the doors as we were trying to remove our things. When my daughter-in-law asked the staff behind the desk which door the kids had gone through ahead of her (because they had locked the main front doors) they laughed at her and wouldn't respond. Twice in one night the staff literally made my DIL and Granddaughter cry. Crazy. One of the staff was also spitting on the ice as he stood in the middle watching the kids skate. Kids are falling down all over the place and he's spitting on the ice. Gross. read more

Our family skates 4 to 5 times a week in other rinks in the Tampa area so we were excited to try out this rink too for a hockey clinic we signed up for. WOW this place is dirty, staff is rude, unhelpful and seems they just don't care. If it wasn't for the amazing coaches we followed here we would have asked for our money back. I can tell you that we wouldn't do it again, they really need friendlier "front of house" staff, a good paint job and cleaning. Locker rooms are so bad and dirty we tried not to use them. It's a very low budget rink from the competition we have been to. Do yourself a favor and go to Brandon which is clean with an amazing staff or Oldsmar which is old but amazing staff that care about their customers. read more

If you are looking for ice skating then you have come to the right place. It can be crowded on weekends for public sessions (which should tell you the place is fun given it gets so much business). I have brought my friends and my brother on several occasions and there was not a complaint out of any of them, not even from the ones who had never skated before in their lives. The staff is helpful when picking out skates if you have never skated before and will take time to give you tips on how to start. It is a friendly environment, even other patrons will take the time to give you tips if you are struggling or even if you are working on some technical skills. read more

I'm writing this review for Clearwater ice arena not only because it has become my second home for the past 10 years while I was figure skating, but because one employee has done exceptionally well across the board. I met Quinten Pickrum about a year ago during Learn to Skate classes. While he was coaching the little guys, I saw compassion and happiness as he was teaching the kids his favorite sport. From this first interaction, I knew Quinten was an amazing coach. Quinten is also great on front desk, he had the answers when I asked when freestyle sessions were. In the past year of knowing Quinten, I have watched his passion for hockey grow as he strives to teach and pass on what he loves most. In the past year, I have also realized how blessed I was to meet such a kind hearted person at the ice rink we have both shared for the past 10 years of our lives. This rink has given me a passion for figure skating that will not go away, coaching experience, life lessons, and my best friend/the love of my life. Definitely 5 stars. read more

Disgusting bathrooms and locker rooms. Crappy ice. Terrible scheduling. Concession stand is gross. Inattentive management.

I attended A-plus ice hockey camp there this week on the new ice. The ice is amazing and the people are nice the new off ice gym is amazing.

I recommend this ice rink to young children and their family. It is safe, clean, and the skaters are friendly, helpful and polite. Their is no hockey violence, nor rough skating allowed. Please continue to discourage hostile and dangerous behavior from taking control of this wonderful space. read more
