The hotel that accommodated us provided shuttles to the veteran events at the convention center. We was able to catch up with friends and to see what all different types of events they were having on site. You were able to purchase food at your own cost they did give out free bottled waters as well. Was in town to attend a conference at this site; nice facilities; very spacious and accommodating; great parking. The outside view was beautiful, with ample areas for buses etc. There were a couple of eateries inside as well as a restaurant just outside the center. Loads of space; very clean restrooms. Very useful centrally located convention center with lots of easy access from all of the hotels around and easy access to the running trail on the rivers. You can get a easy access to just about anywhere whatever your motor transportation there's also easy parking if you decide to have a vehicle and there's lots of venues around to eat at. They have an internal Starbucks as well as the shipping center that I believe is run by UPS. Very good lighting and lots of different tears to walk up and down in a different types of event spaces instead of just an old school internal concrete structure although they have that as well. Only tip I have at these kind of things if you're working the convention as I was is make sure you bring support of athletic shoes in a standing pad because generally wherever you're standing or walking around if you're a presenter it's going to be on concrete. read more

This place is HUGE! I was here for a work trip (Recruitment Event). I walked around the day prior for recon and couldn't believe the size. On the day I walked through there were two events happening simultaneously. One was being held upstairs in one of the Halls and the other was downstairs in the hallways, while also utilizing several rooms. They did not interrupt each other with sound, crowd, or in any way. My Job Fair was in a Hall that was easily located from the front door. There were about 15 employers and we still only used half of the hall. That's how big this place is. The bathrooms are easily located and they even have a UPS Store on-sight. It's also located right off the water. So you can go outside, take a break, get some some, and relax. Lastly, it was conveniently connected to the Embassy Suites we stayed at (which was also huge). It's connected by a walkway, which made the transport of our equipment a breeze. Well done. read more

We were here for a competition cheer event over a weekend and found the facilities to be exactly what we needed. Lots of room for the masses of people, made it feel less stressful. I've only been to convention center twice. Once when MegaCon decided to host a mini con & the 2 nd time for Gasprilla run. I want to pick up my race packet & walk around the fit expo. The convention center is clean & spacious. There's plenty of bathrooms for the us ladies. The hardest and pain butt thing about the convention center is parking. Driving in downtown Tampa is a nightmare. So many one way streets, underground & above aground parking. Some of the parking further away is sketchy. Once I found parking near the convention center the sign stated 2 hour parking $2.00. Then it went after that.I was only there for an hour and 30 minutes and I ended up paying $4.00! It should've only been $2.00. read more

Staff are very friendly and helpful. The building Is huge and located on prime property in downtown Tampa. There are plenty of restrooms and they are kept clean. There are several parking garages available throughout downtown Tampa within walking distance to the place. This place is not that grand. They ban outside food or drinks. They do not provide any food or drink options other than a coffee shop that is only open a few hours or a sandwiche shop that drastically over charges for small sandwiches. The inside of this place is clean and nice. The rooms are spaced out quaintly. It just is not a good place for a four day convention. read more

Could use some renovation, not the largest convention center but definitely the prettiest, most scenic location. Hard to find entrance if you come from the water side, it is ground level. Don't go up those massive stairs looking, like many do. Not many choices to eat inside, so bring your own or be ready to shelve out lots of money to eat outside nearby, great restaurants but pricey. Restrooms always clean, facility is sufficient fo it's needs. Could use some update on their technology from installing larger screens in their main meeting rooms and the internet should be free all the time. Love this convention center! Great location near the water. It is very big and can adjust to all sorts of different events that need to use its space. There is both a downstairs and upstairs. I see some people say the entrance is only accessible from the main level, but that is not true. The event that I was at had all of the booths and vendors upstairs and briefings on the bottom floor. You could come in from the stairs as well as the bottom floor. The closest hotel is embassy suites which has a walkway over the road to the convention center with the Marriott being second closest. Closest restaurant is Harpoon Harry's Crab House, though be aware they can get slow if there is a heavy crowd for the convention center. This restaurant also has deals for parking if you eat there. My husband and I like to eat at this location when we are in the area. We opted for dinner this time... we usually come for lunch. The food is always fresh and delicious. I should've stuck with my favorite though, but I opted for a different kind of chicken which was more spicy and also more pricey. But I didn't too much care for it. I usually get Bulgogi chicken which is always yummy. The service was good. We will continue to eat here when we have the opportunity. read more

Super organized for Gasparilla running weekend, these folks have everything you need to have a great run. The health expo was littered with shoe and clothing vendors. What's crazy to me is you never get a new pair of running shoes just prior to a race - so why? Lol! Guess it's just about promoting the shoes / buying that backup pair. As far as picking up the bib and the shirt - seamless process. You get your number emailed to you, find your lane, pickup your bib and pins, then bring that to get your shirt. Simple. Parking was a little bit of a bear - the lot just across from hotel is for pass holders until 3pm - aggravating when you've parked and walked to the pay kiosk. $5 parking was just a short drive away though. read more

I love the Tampa Convention Center. I have been here for events. However, on my typical visits I am just walking around downtown and I stop in. This is one of the best places to stop for the restroom and / or to take a break from walking around. The convention center typically has a guard hanging around. However, I have never seen a need for one. The building is well kept and clean. It is a nice place to relax. They sometimes have a cafe open too if you need food or a drink (the last time I was here it was being revamped...so you will have to check on that). It is a nice space that I am happy we have along the river. read more

So months after comic con we receive a parking ticket from the city from one of those automated parking services. My son had paid for our parking, but clicked the wrong space on the app. We had pictures of the payment in fact I think we had pictures of my car in space. Well not only did they charge us again, but they had put a ticket on the windshield we didnt see. So these people charged us double for ignorng the ticket, funny we saw something fly off the window when we left, but it must have been too small to see originally. Although they removed one charge they kept the other. Do they think we were traveling to their city to try and scam them in parking? I guess so. Anyway, every year the con gets worse, and Tampa is an awful city as it is with cops setting up speed traps and what not, then they have you park miles away from the convention center and charge you as though you are right there, then wont clear a charge they know was paid for. We are done with this convention center and will go to Megacon in Orlando from now on. Its too much of a hassle to deal with the city and their lackluster events, read more

Oh, Tampa. Get it together. One of the worst places I've been for a convention. As an exhibitor, we know we get into the con early, however, there is only ONE door they will allow you in and prior to being allowed into that door, you need to go to another location to pick up a badge. So 40 minutes later we actually get in. The next day, its a completely different door that is the only door we can enter through. Yep. Security didn't check anything when we arrived to set up. Then they let some bypass security while others were stopped even when they had no belongings with them. They also had a fit when someone went to leave through doors other than the ones they were standing at, 4 security people all attention turned to him, then missed all of the people coming in without getting their bags checked. It's weird to rate a convention center but my experience here wasn't great. Keep in mind that I was actually working a conference rather than attending one so my perspective will be a little different. First and most noticeable - if you need to get to the upper meeting rooms/exhibit halls you have to climb stairs. I'm sure there are elevators tucked away someplace but they weren't signposted. So let's say you're setting up for a trade show - you have roller bags full of crap that you have to HAUL UP FLIGHTS of STAIRS. Sure, there was ONE escalator but it was broken. How would folks with disabilities get up there and more importantly, how would they exit in case of an emergency? Again, I'm sure there are elevators somewhere but SIGNS directing a person to them would probably help. If you're setting up or breaking down be aware that they don't turn on the A/C at all so enjoy the free sauna! The location is beautiful (right on the river) but there aren't very many eating options nearby. There are a few hotel restaurants within a 2-block radius but everything else would be farther away and tough to access if you're trying to get something to eat on a break. Seriously, who wants to climb flights of stairs in Tampa heat? read more

Tampa convention center is the best kept secret. I like it when someone holds their event here in an industry that I'm familiar with. It sure beats driving to Orlando or worse yet flying to Las Vegas. The convention center in Tampa also has plenty of docks for boat Parking and is right in the middle of all the action. I recommend trying the Sail pavilion which is an alfresco type café right outside the convention center on the riverfront read more

My family and I came for the Tampa International Auto Show, and the convention center was a fantastic place to host it. The center is massive, with beautiful details to keep you impressed along the way. For those of you looking for something to nibble on, there's a bistro on the first floor. Need a drink to chase your meal? There's a bar right across the way from where the bistro is. As far as the show rooms, they are spacious and bright. I can't even tell you the amount of cars they managed to fit in those rooms for the event! They are gigantic. Amenities are also present and easily accessible. Bathrooms are always within the distance of a quick walk, and the bigger show room had more than one place to purchase food and beverages. I hope they hold another event at the convention center soon. If it's up my alley there's a high probability I'll be there! read more

I always thought that my first tattoo would be a dragonfly. In fact, when I asked the heavily tattooed young man, who held a handrail by me at the streetcar in San Francisco, where he had gotten his and the address, I could picture it on my left hip. Of course, he laughed at the very thought of very-feminine, conservatively dressed, nerdy me ever going through with it. His dark eyes hinted sardonic glow. But off I got, out of that streetcar and into Ed Hardy. I picked the one and the colors... they did the transfer and placed it on my hip and rubbed alcohol. I stared at it. Loved it. But, at the last minute, I changed my mind. I chose a butterfly flying away from my hip. The artist argued that usually the Tattooed butterfly should fly as if inside. I insisted. Mine was flying away... My change of heart made sense to no one. Not even me. Seven weeks later, it became clear. I arrived from the airport to find my sister and "bestest" friend in the world, unrecognizable from the one I had parted from just ten days prior. Her beautiful face had melted into sorrow. I gave her depression my all. All the strength and love and prayers my heart could hold. But such love was not enough. She made her decision and left... like a butterfly that could not be captured, or held... she flew away. Transforming into spirit...and my life into a serious existential chaos. Among the many memories I hoard of M. is a conversation in which we spoke about the afterlife and where we made a pact to signal to one another with dragonflies. The Tampa Convention Center held the Tampa Tattoo and Art Convention this weekend. My Green-Eyed Foodie and I walked among the darkly clothed and heavily tattooed enthusiast. Lots of stares our way. We must have looked like Snow White and Alice wondering into the woods. We blended as much as a drop of water on engine oil. Every couple of booths the same questions: "where is your ink?" Tons of catalogues, styles, booths, walking samples, advice, smiles, questions, answers, douts... even more consults. My Green-Eyed first ink... a mother's trepidation. We found Bryan LaFave. We extended our wrists to him, ours palms up as if in begging... he marveled at such smallness. Could we trust him to creatively roam free? Could he reproduce the colors on both exactly the same? The whole convention was light and fun. Friendly and knowledgeable staff in booths. Amazing jewelry and art. Next year, no more questions. We feel quite pretty in ink. Some believe that dragonflies are a reminder of the time of magic, other realms, of fairies, of wonder. As the animal totem, it means the wisdom of transformation and ability to adapt in life. For two, a sister's love, a mother's love, a daughter's love and moving on from grief. read more

Fan Central was so much fun for the National Championship game! Some of the lines were a bit long but the convention center was decorated awesome And easy to navigate! You could play football, get your photo with the Heisman trophy ans others, a variety of other football games, lego center, and a 360 photo booth opportunity. We had so much fun! read more

I've worked conventions for many years and recently worked at Tampa Convention Center for the first time. Tampa Convention Center definitely has the best views and is in the prettiest location of all the convention centers that I've worked. The venue staff and coordinators were very helpful and friendly. The parking was reasonable for the location. $5 flat fee, across the street at South Regional Garage on the weekend and hourly Monday and Tuesday It's on the smaller side, but perfect for the Trade Show that I attended. Downside: cost of food and services. We needed some last minute copies of an 8 page document, but the cost was outrageous in the venue's UPS Store. And I think the cheapest food item was $6 (I didn't eat) and I paid $3 for fountain soda. read more
