It's Tampico just a reg snack place. Been coming here since way back when. Not the best pic but I got an elote which it's just that elote nothing special to write home about. I asked for a raspa de limon natural and that was nothing but ice. It's like they say in Spanish "must be expensive" with what little juice they put in there.

Tampico is a great spot for a fresh raspa, shaved ice, fresh fruit, elote in a cup, and much more refreshing items lots of flavors and options. Very affordable snack for a hot summer day to keep you cool! They have a couple locations with outdoor seating and they all have the same menu so that is consistent. Great service, they speak English and Spanish & service very happy you can hear the music in the background, workers singing along, they are happy to serve you it's a lovely experience. What we ordered: - Rootbeer Raspa with condensed milk on top (surprisingly good combo) - Jicama with Tajin - Elote in a cup - chips with Valentina sauce

Don't mess with Texas. Don't Tampa with Florida. And don't Tampico without being spotted by all customers.

If Peter Gabriel owned it, it'd be Tamp-biko. If Mr. Suave owned it, it'd be Tamp-Rico. And if I flashed all the customers, it'd be Tampeepshow. It's none of those things, and perhaps I'd like it even more if it was. Delicious snacks and treats of the icy kind, and all kinds of amazing Mexican desserts. Definitely one of the highlights of the north part of the city, and there's several locations of this place and all of them have been excellent to us.

The corn in a cup had a spicy kick that I loved. It had the right amount of mayo, heat, and cheese. The Frito pie was also good. It had chili cheese and beans in it. Lastly, the churros were freshly made and delicious with a caramel filling. You can get a lot for your buck here. I highly recommend this place.

Came here for a snack of some mangonada and elote. Friend had talked about this place a few times during our visit to Houston so we had to come here on our last day in Houston. This location specifically does not have indoor seating but has seating outside and a drive thru. We decided to park and walk up to the place so we ordered through the window. Mangonada is 16oz at $3.00. Mangonada was super frozen, topped off with the chamoy sauce. We had gotten the mangonada at about 01:45PM. Let's say it wasn't "drinkable" until like 05:00PM after being left in the car on a hot day. We tried digging into it with the plastic spoon and barely got some out to eat. The elote was $2.50 for a bowl of cut corn topped w/ mayo, hot sauce, and cheese. Typically, the elote i've tried in the past, uses cayenne pepper. This is the first place i've been to that uses hot sauce. Overall, not bad though. I liked it. and it was cheap. Could use a bit more cheese, which is an option for an additional $0.50. Weather was nice this day we came so sitting outside on the bench tables with shade was decent. Wished their mangonada was not so frozen though....

One of my friends love this place so he took us here when we were visiting. We got elote, or what they call elote. It's not a corn on the cob but in a bowl, which is even better right? Less of a mess. They have the usual toppings on the elote: mayo, cheese, etc. The only difference is that instead of using a chili powder, they use hot sauce. It made the taste a little weird because the hot sauce they used was a bit tangy. We also got a mangonada with all the toppings. Buuuuutttt the thing was frozen to the core. I think they just have these ready in the freezer to go whenever someone ordered it. It took four hours or so to fully melt and by then, I had a few sips and was done. Everything is pretty cheap. For the elote and magonada, it was less than $6 and that's including tax. There is no indoor seating, only outdoor seating. I think it's nice to get a cold treat here on a hot summer's day. If I do come back another time, I might try their drinks instead.

You may order online, in shop through a tablet, or with a person at the register. We used the register because we did not see the tablet and did not want to order ahead online. The ladies who helped us on our visit were very nice. You get a number and they call it when your made to order food is ready. We did not have to wait long. There was medium to low noisy ambiance. It was deserted when we arrived, but they have relatively loud background music. While we were eating it got pretty crowded. Mostly a lot of young people in the middle of the day on a Monday. The inside is small, seating both inside and outside are limited and close together. One lady was studying with her laptop, but there are no plugs. The breakfast sandwich is customizable. We got it on a croissant and with sausage. The eggs had a unique texture and the sandwich a unique flavor that we could not place, but both were very tasty. We also wanted a crepe, but we split the sandwich and it was sufficient. We also got a small mocha and a decaf, both were ok to good. We would definitely come back again and recommend that you give them a try for a crepe or sandwich. It is sad that a few Yelpers brought down their average to 3.8 stars due to petty and unjustified complaints such as having to pay for parking downtown. Other complaints are not the business' fault such as periodic homelessness--it is a downtown area in the US, other cities have far worse homelessness than Midtown Houston and we saw none on this visit. Additionally, complaints about takeout orders are mostly petty. Takeout is never as good as eating at the restaurant and so customers should adjust their expectations rather than dock the business stars. Nearly every recent Yelp review for this who ate at the restaurant gave 4-5 stars for food quality and customer service. Like most of the restaurants in this area it is a pretentious yuppy style place with specialized food. Although not usually our type of place (we like down to earth hole in the wall places with good food or taco truck type restaurants), Coco's is a solid 4 star restaurant for the type of place they are and they offered a 5 star experience on our visit. Again, recommend you give them a try if you are in the mood for crepes or sandwiches.
