This is literally the worst tanning salon in the whole city of Jacksonville you cannot tan in there they literally have one bed that strong and useful and it's in the same room that they do spray tan when they are spray tanning a person they will not come out and put anyone else in a bed and this happens every day at 6:30 I have gone and four times in a row in two weeks and every single time she was spray tanning !!! This is where I tan. The girls up front, are very helpful, and super sweet. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? Well, today while I was waiting on my favorite bed to open up, I started looking at their tanning lotions, bronzers, etc. Found one recommended by the girl at the front desk, and she was telling me how it's their best seller, great ingredients, etc.....$139 ! I about died! $140 for a bottle of tanning lotion? I think not! So, when my bed was ready, and she went to clean it, I snapped a pic of the lotion she recommended so highly, came home...found the same bottle, same manufacturer, and distributor on Amazon for $38. THEY MARKED A BOTTLE OF TANNING LOTION UP $100 per bottle! I will be telling them what I found when I go in tomorrow. read more

By far, the worst tanning salon I went to! The beds are old and rusty, dont close all the way. So u have to hold it down when you tan ! If they tell you to go to room 9, please avoid it. The big aluminum tube ( I don't know the exact name for it), but it supposedly should've been blowing bad air from the bed vents.. it's connected to bed .. well, as I was tanning I felt something landing on my face.. then a few seconds after a piece if crap flew into my mouth. I got out really fast to discover that there were holes in the vent tube. And all that dust from the bed was blowing out the holes and into my face. Really disgusting! So when I went to the front desk , I told the girls at the front what have just happened. They all acted very surprisingly, like they didn't know about it .. they said that it would get fixed immediately.. so... 3 days later I came back to tan , they put me in the same bed and nothing was fixed. The dust was still flying in the air and on bed. ( please see pictures for urself). I honestly don't know how the state did not shut them down , but, I made a report!!! Imagine a wild cheetah in the african desert with it's beautiful spots glistening in the sun as the heat smolders waves of thick air. Beautiful, right? Now imagine a person who's an uncanny shade of orange with spots of uneven spray tanning all over her body with the worst smell of DHA (the chemical that creates the spray tan) two days after, even with a shower, that you could ever imagine. Yes, that's me. I'm that smelly, weird shaded person that looks like she should be checked into a hospital for some awful incurable disease. I wanted to like the salon. I mean, I'm a veteran of spray tans. And since I've been blessed with Irish skin, it's been a lifesaver so people don't use me as a flashlight in the evenings. And I really liked the personality of the owner and the one who subsequently applied my spray tan. But personality doesn't count when you are orange and spotted and smelly. And how did I exactly get to Tan & Glam? Easy. Groupon. I bought a $19 spray tan that was suppose to be SunFX to begin with. But I didn't know what it was for the most part. I just knew it was a spray tan and it said that it was customized blended/applied by hand and had a value of $55. A deal, right? Well, not so much. I got there and was told that if I had sensitive skin, which I do, I should upgrade to the SunFX tan for an extra $10. That was after she was trying to convince me to use the tanning beds first and then do the spray tan so my "pores will be open." No way, no how. So I said, sure, I guess I will upgrade to the SunFX since I have to pay for tax which apparently wasn't included in my groupon and of course, gratuity, which I knew I had to pay for. So I was already up to $32 and then I added another $8 tip prior to application as I thought, this is the owner, she knows what she's doing. So I spent $40 so far on a Groupon that should have cost me $19 plus tip. And maybe she does but the spray tan booth is in the dark. Like really. Reminds me of this dive bar back home in Miami called the Fox where you couldn't really see what was going on 3 feet in front of your face. But this bar played cool indie music while this tanning salon played Eminem. But a dark area to proctor the spray tan is only great if you're a little shy but alas, I am not. I could walk around the house naked all day long, no problem. But for a spray tan, you as the technician, and me, as the customer, kinda needs to see what is going on with this tan. Is it even? Is it darker/lighter on one side? Do I have drip marks making a tic-tac-toe game on my back? Who knows! Well, by the final product, I have come to the conclusion that we both don't know. I didn't know until I was driving home when I had my first, "oh, crap" moment while looking in the mirror at my face. Followed by many more profanities that are not Yelp approved so I'm going to keep it PG-13 here, kids. 1. I'm angry that I was up-selled for a product that I had already purchased in my initial buy on Groupon called SunFX. I didn't purchase Novell, yet that's what the owner was giving me originally. I even reviewed my Groupon when I came home and sure enough, it says SunFX. Not to mentioned all the other up-sells she was pushing such as tanning bed, lotions, elixirs, potions, cardboard flip flops...the list goes on. 2. It's an unnatural color. We should have went lighter or even clear...not orange. I left it up to her as this was her business. Bad idea. She went with "light medium." I think she meant, "orangutan light medium." But to keep it fair, she told me I can come in for a free touch-up within 24 hours. A touch up is not going to be able to fix this catastrophe. And as a sidenote, I was brushing my teeth tonight and I just tilted my chin up and was shocked to see actual vertical orange stripes on my neck and chin. Oh, what a beautiful Orange Tabby pussycat I have become. Now I just have to find my delightfully singing Owl, marry him and we will dance hand-in-hand on the sand in the moonlight. Be forewarned if you don't want to look like a tabby cat any time soon. And if you do, be prepared to bring your open wallet in and pay for products/services that you may have already paid for. Ladies..can you say IMPROVED?!?! I knew this place from two owners ago, I worked there for a bit and now it is a TOP of the line place to go!! The amazing customer service had me feeling really comfortable from the moment I walked in..I have a trip at the end of this month and this is the only tanning place I knew of..how fantastic to meet the new owner and her amazing staff!! I felt like I was shown VIP treatment. .they talked to me about lotions, even though I had one I used..There was never any weird pressure to buy something..we even joked some about reality stars and their tanning lotions, like FRIENDS would..I felt like these ladies really cared and want me to get the best tan I can and have a smell I enjoy and not feel too baked and leave there relaxed..well..I did..I'm so glad I came back to find a really amazing change!! I had such a wonderful experience here at Tan & Glam, it was my first time ever going to a tanning salon for the UV tanning beds and the girl who helped me answered all my questions and helped me decided what level UV tanning bed I wanted to try. She was so nice and her customer service was amazing! I decided to try the Level 3 and girl, for 10 minutes and with a nice black lotion I could totally notice the difference (Mind you I'm as pale as Casper) but it was amazing! My over all experience tanning at Tan & Glam has by far been one of the best in Jacksonville, in the Southside Baymeadows area. The beds are awesome. I prefer the stand ups they hit all the right spots. The girls always show great hospitality and customer service, especially LeeAnn who's been there for four years. I bought a package set of spray tans and have been pretty happy with my results. I have had 4 by now with varying results. My most recent tan was from Xtina and she did my best spray tan so far. I believe the difference with her was that she got closer to spray me which gave me a darker application and she was great about taking her time and rolling out any dripping that she saw. I also like that they will give you another coat if they have enough left in the sprayer so you really get a good application. All the girls that I've seen work there are professional and sweet.
