The ladies here are always welcoming , helpful, happy and willing to explain any questions you may have about tanning , tanning lotions , spray tans ect.. Slim pickin's here in Ashland. I'm a strong supporter of local businesses, but in this case...I would STRONGLY Recommend trying the neighboring Talent or Phoenix for another shop. I came back to see IF time and upping my package improved my experience. I spent significantly more and opted for the Platinum tanning bed (btw there is only 1 bed available for the platinum level). While I agree that I obtained somewhat better tanning results, the bed itself is clearly in need of maintenance. Most importantly, when I 1st started with the bed, there was a single face lamp out and some of the bulbs looked a little dim (I brought it to their attention). Over the course of a couple of weeks, another face lamp went out, then a main lamp completely burnt out, then 2 more lamps went out; several more were noticeably dim compared to others. Each time I brought it to the attention of either the front desk worker (college girls always) or the owner (the only rude person in the building), the ladies were very polite and friendly and assured me that they would notify the owner. In general: the Front Desk staff are always polite and friendly when checking in. The owner is consistently angry looking, is borderline rude to customers as if we are an inconvenience by showing up and the owner may not be aware, but she bullies her staff (I witnessed this on several occasions - very sad). At one point, after several facial lamps were burnt out and at least 2 main lamps were totally burnt out... the owner told me that they had "just received the replacement bulbs", but they already replaced bulbs in another bed on that day, so the platinum bed would be repaired the following day. Ok, I can work with that. BS. 2 weeks later, the bulbs continue dimming and a 3 facial lamp (of 6) were burnt black. None of this really matters. What matters is the tan and the value. I can get past the rude owner. I can get past the learning curve of constantly having staff in training (no biggie - just time consuming to check in). I can even get over the random closed days/times with no notice *sigh* What I can't stand is paying a premium (DO NOT FORGET THE ADDED $100 FEE "for joining with a membership") and having just 1 bed and it not having all of the bulbs working for WEEKS. Excuse after excuse after excuse. This place is clearly on it's way out and trying to collect as much as they can before they tank. Skip this place. PS I heard from other customers that burnt bulbs is very common and unfortunately the norm, especially on the beds (lowest level) that they offer with the "college term deal" *yikes* read more

I was so very disappointed. My experience was not good at all. Broken bulbs in many rooms and I had to come out after dressing twice again to ask them to please fix it when the whole bed went out. After two times I asked to be put in a better bed and the lady appeared irritated and Not accommodating. I took a higher level bed that still had broken bulbs but at least not in areas that would be visible. Then to top it off they require you to buy eyewear instead of offering it for $15 a tan. And even worse it's $1 for a pair of stickers that cost 5 cents to make! I was so over this place. I go to a wonderful place in medford and I guess I need to stick to it. This place needs some serious attention to their Equiptment, pricing, and customer service. Wasted $30 on 2 tans for me and my spouse. read more

I have never felt more uncomfortable in a business in my life. Yesterday 5/10/19 I went in to tan, and the girl at the front desk obviously has 0 respect for her work place. She had friends running in and out angry at her because she would not give him something that he needed. She was completely egging him on and causing a very uncomfortable scene due to the fact that he was actually very angry with her. She would leave the store completely for 5 minutes at a time, multiple times. When I left after my tanning session, she was outside screaming and arguing with the man until he finally walked away. It was EXTREMELY unprofessional. Really not stoked about the fact that I just bought a month membership the day before, because I don't ever really want to be put in that situation again. read more

They suck you in with reduced prices on member ships then randomly there's an additional 60$ out of your account for extra membership fees every couple of months. Beds have looked dirty multiple times that I felt I had to wipe again myself. I am no longer a member but recently I got a spray tan and came in 30 minutes before they closed (plenty of time ) and the girl said she already started cleaning the machine even though it was on the day they have a spray tan special and should be expecting people . I would Happily give a five star to Tan Republic if they would replace the bulbs that are out in the Beds. Otherwise, I'm not sure who these other reviewer's are talking about, but every time I've gone in to get A tan, I have been treated wonderfully well, never been overcharged on my account, and never had a problem getting into a bed. I bought a Groupon for 2 spray tans back in December-I used one then, and planned to use the other in March before Spring Break. It was set to expire in April, but with COVID19, the salon was closed from mid-March to just opening recently in May/June. I contacted Groupon and they gladly extended the voucher for a year. I went in today to use the 2nd tan on the voucher, and was told that Groupon hadn't communicated with Tan Republic, and therefore it was considered expired on Tan Republic's end and they wouldn't honor it. Now, the girl working was very nice and called the owner, and I understand that the owner was frustrated with Groupon's lack of communication. HOWEVER, the salon was still closed during the expiration of said voucher, and therefore I was unable to use it regardless of any communication with Groupon-good customer service from the owner would have been to acknowledge that the salon was closed for months, and to accept the voucher regardless due to extenuating circumstances. I get that the whole COVID situation has not been great for anyone, but the worst thing a business can do after losing 3 months of income is to have crappy customer service! If you aren't going to take responsibility in your part of a Groupon, don't use the site to promote your business! Seems pretty selfish and unprofessional on the owner's account, and I definitely will let all my friends know not to go to this salon now... read more

The customer service was good. Most everything was good except I just have to warn about this one important thing. I went in for a spray tan. I do this instead of regular tanning because I am trying to protect my skin from sun damage. The problem was, from their spray tan, my skin got all alligator-like and dry and yucky, just like a huge dose of sun exposure would do--and the effect lasted for quite a while. I have had several organic spray tans, on the other hand, which did not have this damaging effect, so I will continue to get the organic ones at another business instead. I was pretty disappointed with the aging effect that Tan Republic's spray tan had on my skin. read more

Horrible! I would give less than one star if possible. Sneaky business ethics, hidden fees, inexperienced staff. Cowardly owner wouldn't even call me back when I asked to speak to him/her about an extra charge on my card. Don't support this business! I wanted to give this place a chance. The staff were nice. When I went there last summer, they were more than helpful. Beds were hit or miss but they were knowledgeable about that. My issue with the company is that they don't really care about you or your finances. I mistakenly signed up for a 6 month package (thought it was 3 months) but afterward they showed I had signed up for 6 months. They took out money monthly even though I did not go the entire 6 months. That's fine, it's a contract, I get it. However, they did NOT explain that those expenses would keep going. When I realized in February of this year (2018) that they were still charging me, I went in to talk to them. They said they had to call their manager and didn't have "enough cancellation forms." Called me back, had to go back in and sign one. I wanted a refund for the last two months. I emailed corporate and they never responded. I called again and they charged me for ANOTHER month (March) even though they stated they would not. I called back and the girl on the phone was very rude and said "we'll get back to you in a few days." They didn't. They just want your money. They could care less about you or your business. Their smiles are as fake as their bad spray tans. I will never go back and I encourage others not to as well. Money grubbers, you will never get my business and I will tell everyone that is interested to stay away. I didn't ask for anything special, just fair treatment, and you couldn't seem to do that. read more
