There was an event in Bethany Village today that blocked off the Main Street, so the route was altered slightly. After I picked up my mail, I went to Starbucks then QFC. There's a library here that is small, but it's nice enough to work at if there's a table available. Bethany Village is clean and safe. Good people. I'm looking to move soon, and this area is definitely an option.

It's pretty rare that I get a pass -- usually it's through my 107ist membership -- so I end up going maybe once a year, if that. On the plus side, there's plenty of parking and the store itself is clean and well organized. The clothing selection is definitely trendy... maybe too trendy. It feels geared more toward teenagers and young adults. I've visited a few times now and honestly haven't found any apparel that interests me. A lot of it comes off as flashy. I was hoping to see more outfits tied to big events like the Winter Olympics or the World Cup, but while they did have a few jackets and pants, they were pretty boring overall. The real draw here is the shoes. About half the store is dedicated to footwear, and there are some really nice options. Most shoes are around 40% off, with the non-discounted pairs clearly marked. Prices on display shoes usually range from about $145-$220, so you can do the math to decide if it's worth it. Even with discounts, many pairs still start around $80 and go up from there. Clothing, on the other hand, still felt overpriced even after the employee store markdowns. I've been here three times now and still haven't bought a single thing. In comparison, I've purchased multiple items at other brand employee stores. That said, if you're already planning to buy Nike shoes, this can definitely be a solid deal. One standout positive: the employees have always been very friendly and helpful.

Build a Marshall's, people will come! While I've shopped at Tanasbourne Town Center more times than…read moreI can count, until Marshall's joined this group of stores in this "strip mall," it was never a destination. Now it is! I love me a Marshall's! Located off the high traffic area of NW 185th and NW Evergreen Parkway, just off of Highway 26, thisis not really a mall or even a strip mall. It's a ginormous parking lot with several cross roads creating clusters of stores. You can't really walk from one area to the next so plan on getting in and out of your car. Drive the entire area so you can see all of the options. There are several big box stores that attract customers - Target, Best Buy, Ethan Allen Furniture, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Office Depot, Michael's Crafts and Old Navy. Plus lots of discount stores - Marshall's, Sierra Trading Post, Nordstrom Rack, Ulta Beauty, and Famous Footware. That's a lot of discount stores! They even have a Petco and one of the few remaining Barnes & Nobles with a Starbucks attached and another Starbucks with a drive through across the street. Smaller stores and services round it out - AT&T Phone store, Sprint, See's Candy, Batteries Plus, Aspen Dental, Wells Fargo Bank, Bank of the West and an Urgent care. Even 2 gas stations. Sprinkled along the perimeter are a plethora of popular fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Jack in the Box, Burger King, Chic-Filet, Shari's', Panda Express, Carl's Jr.). Isn't that crazy? They are all always busy so obviously there is a need. With so many high tech businesses and huge townhome complexes nearby, they know their demographic. I'm not a fast food person so used to visit Thai Orchid for their chicken curry or vermicelli noodle dish. Bummed that they are no longer in business here or at the location on West Burnside. When I shop here, it's usually with a purpose like I need craft supplies at Michael's, athletic wear is on sale at Old Navy or most likely, I need my Marshall's fix! When I worked in the area I would often stop here after work so I could take care of a lot of errands in one general area, fill up on gas and head home on 26.

But this is pretty epic too. It's a REALLY big Target. It's so pretty. Bright. Wide aisles. It's a really nice store. AND they only have self checkout. It's weird but good. I don't know how well it works when there are a lot of people, or a line, but for low traffic it definitely works. I still love you so much Target. But this store. I love you SO much!!!

Honestly, if I had to choose, my new go-to for Target runs in comparison to the other locations in the area. There was a good assortment of items, and in addition to CVS there is a Starbucks here (but honestly, if I may? Lots of cute mom and pop coffee shops in the radius so stop by there :) ) I will say that this location is a bit cozy so some items might not be available in store and online or at another location, *however*, there's a wide variety that you'll likely find what you're after. Not lacking by any means. Just not a gigantic, gigantic Target -- but still my new fave and a nice addition for the area!

The store is huge, has many departments - swim, camping, women's, men's and children's apparel, hiking, biking, hats and accessories, fitness items, winter coats, rain gear and more. But within some areas, there is hardly any merchandise. For example, the Swim section was minimal. There was a big sign and display, but turns out that was it. Literally just a handful of swimsuits, one or two rash guards, no goggles, fins or gear. Did I mention just a handful of swimsuits? Was highly disappointed but since I was there, decided to walk the aisles. The vast majority of the store is filled with clothing. Racks and racks of clothing. Like it's sister store and neighbor, Marshall's, they must get leftover clothing from other stores and sell at a discount. There are definitely good finds among the racks, but I wasn't shopping for clothing and didn't have the patience. Ended up buying a wide brimmed sun hat with SPF of 50 for just $16.99. There were only three customers at the checkout but it still seemed to take forever. Of course this area is filled with a plethora of spontaneous purchases - trail mix, gadgets of every kind, hiking books, flashlights, etc. For me, Sierra will never be a destination like Marshall's where I will go far out of my way to visit. But for those who want outdoorsy clothing, this could be your Marshall's.
