My son went to the prom this year rather last minute. So I wasn't sure we'd be able to get a tux within 72 hours and have it fit. Not only did we get a great tux, the experience was very stress-free and enjoyable. There were so many options to choose from, so even at that late date there were styles available that didn't make it seem sparse, with all the proms going on this time of year. Issac (not sure of the spelling) was SO helpful, engaging and fun to work with. He had great ideas and suggestions and knows his stuff, if we ever need formal wear again, we will be back, and ask for him! read more

I should lead with the fact that I have never written this kind of review, but would absolutely give a zero star review if the option was available. To start, we did not note the name of the salesperson, but appeared to be female, mid-20s with bleach blonde hair and dark roots. We had the most horrible experience trying to purchase and rent suits here. We went in the first time to see about options for our wedding and our first impression of the store was that it was not very professional and seemed dated. Not wanting to "judge a book by its cover" we looked around and and we fell in love with a beautiful wool suit from a good designer. After talking with the salesperson, we got a quote and she said that we could think about it and call to order if we decided to move forward. We called a day later to order and another person said we would have to go in to the store and that they wouldn't take a payment over the phone. Please note this as the first lie we were told. My fiancé went in a couple of days after that to order and they tried to charge him about 25% more than they originally quoted. The salesperson who originally quoted us was there and called my fiancé a liar and said she wasn't the person who helped us in the beginning. In the end, they honored the original price and ordered the suit. A couple of weeks later, we got the call that the suit we ordered was in and we went to pick it up the next day. Unfortunately for us, it was the same salesperson, who offered nothing but bad customer service and was defensive about every question we had. Nothing was right in the order, except the jacket, which was a different size than we actually ordered. In the end, the pants, jacket and vest were 3 different brands and the salesperson tried to tell us this was standard practice and "was the same designer with different labels", which I looked up later and called another store to verify, and found out it was an outright lie. We ended up canceling the purchase and getting a refund, but there was no empathy or apology, rather rudeness and lies. The one thing we needed that we were going to rent from them (but another store, because we wouldn't step foot in the Beaverton store for anything) were ivory shirts for some of the groomsmen who didn't have them. We found out today that she lied about these being available in the style we asked about, so we are even further behind than we realized, as we now need to source these from a different supplier. This was arguably the worst customer service experience of my life and we will be sure to not only avoid this company in future, but will warn everyone we possibly can to avoid it as well. read more

Poor quality product. The buckle on the pants snapped off so the pants fall right off. Had to baby pin them up but to no avail, they continue to fall off and so I was relegated to sitting at my nephews wedding the entire night, unable to socialize or dance, because the pants sucked. In addition to that, they bug you 4-5 times to come in for a fitting and then when you do and things don't fit, they have no stock as a replacement. So they just delete the item from the order. I'm just gonna jump right into this review and tell you if you need to get suits, tuxedos for any event this is the place to go. The ladies at then Beaverton location Pam specifically was amazing. They were all nice, courteous, flexible and accommodating especially after a little mishap and needing suits in a short period of time. From the time of getting sized to dropping off the suits the next day this was a very great experience. Most people who are renting suits or tuxedos it is usually for a big event. The last thing you want is to have to stress about one more thing. Say less and put your trust in Mr. Formal for all your suit and tuxedo rental needs. I was one of the groomsmen and been apart of a lot of wedding and used many different companies. Beaverton Mr Formal specially you guys knocked It out of the park. Initial measurements were way off...the ordered a 44 Regular and ended up needing a 48 Long. So initial measurements were just done wrong. Fortunately after speaking to the manager at the Portland central location she corrected the Beaverton store mistake and went above and beyond to help us. read more

Mr. Formal was rather disappointing, especially since we had 11 people rent suits from them. We had 3 people who had issues initially and had to go back on Friday, including myself. This was not optimal because I was very busy Friday and traffic sucked. My tie also broke and they didn't provide me with an extra so I had to borrow another groomsman's tie while they used Bobby pins to fix the other one. However, when I called to complain to them about my issues they were very understanding and apologetic and refunded me the cost of my suit which I thought was a good gesture. I suggested that they guarantee the Grooms suit on Wednesday instead of by Thursday because if something is off with the suit, it's ridiculous that they need to make that trek on Friday, especially when the store doesn't open until 11am. My other suggestion was that they give large groups extra pieces such as a tie. I think they were very receptive to the suggestions and I hope they're implemented because it's always good to see a local small business like Mr. Formal do well read more

Was in need of a last minute Tuxedo for a 30th birthday party. Lexi at Mr. Formal was extremely friendly and helpful. Got me fitted in about 20 minutes, and had me walking out the door with my tuxedo in hand. I am reposting my negative review. I took down the original one because Pam the owner refused to give me a refund because I posted a negative review. Perhaps she should apologize for her company fucking up my order. I ordered the rentals for my wedding 8-9 months in advance based on a great experience I had at the bridal show. When we arrived to pick up our rentals one of them had been shipped to a different location. Shoes were missing, brown shoes instead of black shoes, missing tie. The store manager Angie who I had been working with was no were to be found for several days. I was told she was going to call me immediately. That never happened. The next day we had to wait for the other location to open to pick up the missing suit. We missed out on a night at the beach dealing with this crap because we had to wait to get this issue resolved. My wedding was a destination wedding. I was told by the store manager that she was putting in a request for a full refund. She called me and said the owner Pam was refusing to refund me because of my negative review. Stay away from this place!!! Actually 3 of the guys were fitted at the SE grand location NOT downtown so get your facts straight AND you were told that everyone was picking up at Beaverton so why would you send 5 to Beaverton and one to SE Grand. Stop making excuses and blaming me the customer for your mistake. A good business owner apologizes and tries to make it right! You did none of the above. Was promised a refund of some sort BUT they are now refusing. Tried to dispute with my bank but they are siding with this business!!! Stay FAR FAR away from this place. read more

They essentially saved our wedding day! We had reservations at Men's Wearhouse for suits for 6 groomsmen and my husband. Due to Covid, we were still planning to have our wedding, but in smaller numbers. We could not get a hold of Men's Wearhouse to save our lives. No way to contact whatsoever or even get our deposit back! Luckily, my father in law went into Mr. Formal to pick out his suit and recommended Pam to us. Pam is an angel! With less than two weeks to go until the wedding, she made a private appointment for all the guys to get fitted so that we would feel safe during this pandemic. My husband picked out the suit and color we were originally wanting and everything kept going well from there. Some of the groomsmen were out of towners, so they called and gave her their measurements. The suits were all ready to go a couple days before our wedding day for a final fitting to make sure they fit perfectly! The suits were the exact way we envisioned them from the very beginning. 100% recommend. Great customer service. read more

If you need formal wear rentals for any reason, go to Mr. Formal! I am getting married in September and was shopping around for pricing on suit rentals. We started at men's warehouse, and they refused to give us a quote unless we were putting money down that day. We left frustrated and decided to go by Mr. Formal. What a complete 180! Kim was extremely helpful to us and explained all the pros and cons to different options we asked about AND had no problem telling us the pricing of everything we were looking at. In addition, they have about 20 times as many options as Men's Warehouse had. Serious thumbs up for this place. Not only using them for rentals for all of the wedding party, but will definitely use in the future any time we need formal wear. Thank you for your great customer service! read more

One finds themselves on a very limited basis having to rent from a clothing firm. When you do, like for the wedding of your daughter, you want it too be perfect. I'm happy to say that was the case with Mr. Formal on SW Walker Rd in Beaverton. While the store has been at this location forever...it is clean and fresh. But the reason I took the time to post my comment was "customer service." It seems that "customer service" is sometimes lost in the shuffle of day to day business operations. But not here! I dealt with Lexi on both occasions I walked in the door and found her to be EXCEPTIONAL! She was prompt and polite, personable and friendly; and on my second visit remembered me. How often does that happen today? I got first-class service as did the other guys in our group. We may not need to rent another suit for awhile; but if we do....we'll go to Mr. Formal. Will Lexi still be there? That would be nice...but this young lady might be running the place or have been snatched up by another company that values customer service as much as I do. read more

Anthony needed measurements quickly so we went back to Mr. Formal after ten years. Angie was most professional and courteously answered all our questions. Those who find this establishment must have a screw loose. They have always been most professional in person and on the telephone. I had the worst experience with this Mr. Formal location! I got a great deal from a wedding showcase and went to them in December of 2016. My wedding wasn't until July 7, 2017, but I had to get the deal prior to 2016 ending. When we first went there the manager, Angie, told us our groomsmen suits would be less than $100 with our coupon. My now husband and I were so excited! We wanted to save our groomsmen a few bucks. We went back in in Feb of 2017 and Angie told us that was a mistake and she did not know who would have told us that...We were both appalled and had to change our groomsmen suits around to be more affordable for them. It was such a headache! I was in and our of that store MUTLIPLE times leading up to my wedding and calling them so many times. They kept mixing up our orders and when we talked about one thing, Angie put down in her computer system another thing. I was so frustrated! We could NEVER get our order right! I felt like I had to tell her what I wanted and then repeated it 2-3 times because she kept mixing everything up. My father-in-law tried on his suit multiple times too because he was a bigger guy and they wanted to make sure they got the right size for him. The DAY of my wedding, he went to pick up his suit, because that was when it was finally ready and the pants where 3 inches off the ground!!! They made him and my mother-in-law LATE to the venue because they had to fix the pants! My nephew didn't even wear his pants to the wedding because they were high waters as well! My grooms best man's jacket was too tight around his hands and shoulders and could barely wear the jacket AND his pants where 5 inches TOO LONG! My Aunt had to hem them the DAY OF MY WEDDING! My brothers button fell off in the middle of pictures too! Thank God I brought a sewing kit and my aunt is a good seamstress because my groomsmen would have looked absolutely ridiculous thanks to Mr. Formal! This company is not worth your time or money. They treated us so poorly and did not have a good eye for how clothing should fit! I am so disappointed and wish I NEVER booked with them. I will not be going to this store again! read more

We love Mr. Formal! They have always supported Banks High School by providing very affordable Tuxes for our Homecoming Tapping Ceremony and Prom. Unfortunately, the woman who answered the phone was so incredibly rude and condescending, I could not bring myself to give them my business. My fiancé and I had an very frustrating experience at this shop looking for his wedding tux. The customer service was one of the worst I've ever experienced. One of the girls was extremely loud, immature, and unprofessional, and the other was clearly frustrated by her loud behavior and told me so. Their process was very scattered and confusing, and I felt like they had little concept of styling. We ended up canceling our downpayment and appointments because we didn't trust their judgment and couldn't tolerate the lack of professionalism. read more

I have few issues with this business. First: It is overpiced and you can easily get the exact same pruducts for about half price on Amazon. Second: They are being recommeded bu some local youth groups, schools, orhestras etc as their preferred store for formal clothig, but they are very poor with working with teenagers. They do NOT carry any women's sizes or clothing, but they offer alterations on men's shirts and pants -on your expense. It is a total joke! We ended up waiting over 2 weeks and missing two concerts as my daughter did not have the proper clothing for the orchestra. We recieved a very poorly altered tux shirt. I am almost 6' and the "altered" shirt that was "custom" made for my 5' daugher was too big even for me! She looked like a clown in this shirt, and did not want to wear it -as expected! When I tried to return the shirt, they refused to accept the return, even though I offered a restocking fee. They also refused to follow their return policy although it clearly printed on their reciepts. They asked me to leave the store and come back when to owner will be in the store, as they can not accept any returns unless the "owner" authorizes it in person. Very bad bait and switch! The worst customer service I have ever seen in Portland. I do not know anything about their other locations, but I am not going near their store or any other store that has Mr Formal sign on it- ever never. Shame on you Mr Formal!! read more

Beaverton store was hands down the rudest and most unhelpful store of all. I ordered a tuxedo back in March for an October wedding, tired it on, the pants were the wrong size. The person gave me a different pair to try on saying they were the same pant just different color. Fast forward 6 months, I called to confirm all the tuxedos for the wedding they said we were all good. The week of the wedding all the groomsmen get a call Monday ( wedding is Saturday) saying their suits are ready to be picked up but mine ( the groom) had not received such call. I wait till Wednesday to call because they technically had until Thursday to get it in. When I called they couldn't find my reservation. I quickly went to the nearest store and the manager said that they never ordered it after my fitting..... I get married in 3 days!!!! All the groomsmen have their tuxedos. They promised that it would be in the next day..... STRESSED is the light way of how I felt. Thursday comes and they forgot to call me to let me know it was in like they promised, good thing I showed up early afternoon and yes it was there just not the right size pants....., turns out the original pants from the beginning are different from the ones they ordered!!! Then the Beaverton manager ( only one the new clerk at the store could get ahold of) argued with me and my soon to be wife over the phone telling us this is all our fault.....I walked out of the store and went to Men's Wearhouse..... A breath of fresh air, I explained the whole situation and they said no problem we will take care of this.... They rushed me a suit that would work. I went to pick it up from them Saturday morning (wedding day) UPS was late to deliver my tuxedo so they custom fitted me for a suit and had it ready in an hour at no extra cost. I only paid the rental price and they gave me an expensive suit to keep! And thanked me for allowing them to make this right. NEVER SHOP MR FORMAL!!!!! read more
