I'm sad to say that this place is not as good as I remember it. I believe the ambience is not very good. I wonder if the restaurant has fall on difficult times. Perhaps they haven't recovered from COVID or it has a different management. That said, the staff person was friendly and helpful. He checked on us an appropriate number of times both at the buffet and at our table.We arrived at lunchtime. There were a few other patrons. The food was OK. We had Buffet. I remember 7 years ago that it had more choices, including the condiments. My most enjoyable dish was the Sag Paneer. Not because it is vegetarian. It was the tastiest dish. The least favorite was the naan! Checkout was not smooth. The very young man had a difficult time with the equipment and finally had get help. Came here on a whim early on a Friday evening. Place was completely empty but a few people were picking up takeout orders. After looking at the buffet (in a separate tiny room) we opted for it just out of convenience. We enjoyed our masala chai drinks and garlic naan (man, there was a lot of garlic). As far as quality goes, the food was okay for a buffet. Our server was pleasant and the price of the dinner buffet ($17-$18) wasn't bad. I've seen Indian dinner buffets that were much more expensive. The atmosphere is pretty generic, down to the soft rock music that was playing (what?). I suppose they do most of their business from the lunchtime RTP crowd and the adjacent banquet hall. This place will do if you're in the mood to fill up on Indian food but if you want more gourmet options, I can think of some non-buffet places that are tastier. read more

Not bad. Got takeout yesterday and had an overall positive experience. Got my food very quickly (way before the estimated time). Their samosas are pretty tasty, but wish they came with the green chutney like at many other restaurants. Also had the samosa chaat appetizer, which was good, but not great. It came in a very large portion for an appetizer, though, so that's a plus. The saag paneer was creamy and flavorful. I appreciated that it kept a lot of the natural spinach/leafy green flavor that other saag paneers don't always have. The paneer makhani was flavorful, but it was also very watery. This review is for the buffet lunch only. Go someplace else. Anyplace. Or just skip lunch entirely. That would be a better choice. The $10.95 buffet is so very sad. Not many choices and many of them are fried. That's a problem because nothing on the buffet was even close to hot. Slightly warmer than room temp is more like it. Aside from the potential food safety issues, that means that all the previously fried items were cold and soggy. Add to that that many had been thickly embalmed in their batters and you get a really nasty result. The kitchen has a very heavy hand with chilies, even in dishes where you wouldn't expect it like biryani. I expect that the intent is to blow out your taste buds so that you don't notice otherwise careless preparation. Only 1 dessert was available and the obligatory green salad was well on its way to brown. The staff is indifferent at best. Life is too short to waste on meals like this. read more

Came here after buying a groupon on a Tuesday night right after they opened so we were the only two people in the restaurant for our meal. The waiter was very attentive and the owner even came over to chat with us for a while, which was very nice. I got Chicken Makhani and my boyfriend got Chicken Vindaloo. We got one small thing of rice to split between the two of us and after paying $3.95 for Garlic naan we got one medium sized piece to split between the two of us. Out of order urinal and didnt look like the stall had been cleaned in a while. Urine on everything. My date said the womens room was pretty clean. Now to the food. Everything was pretty bland. The only thing that stood out was the spicy spinach. Tandoori chicken...bland. Butter chicken....bland. I couldn't come back here again. I don't usually review places I've only ordered take-out from, but I'm officially replacing Spice & Curry with Tandoor as my new take-out top choice, so figured I'd better give 'em some love. I've been ordering off their online menu, but ran into a weird snag when trying to ask for the Chicken Tikka Saag. The gal taking my order was trying to confirm Chicken Saag (a separate menu item) and I was telling her that I wanted the other version. I could hear the impatience in her voice when she told me they could use the special chicken instead. But I'm like: Dude(ette), the item is on your menu! I'm not making this up! Anyway, as it turns out here, tikka = soggy. So I've just stuck to my normal chicken since then. Works better for everybody, and it's quite tender without being dry. Something that I don't often come by at many of the area's Indian restaurants. The curry seems slightly watered down, but the flavor is still pretty good. The korma was delightful; could even taste the cashews and raisins -- yum! The saag was noticeably milder than the other dishes (though I asked for hot on all) and it's very buttery here. Prices are practical. I've gotten two entrees, samosas, and naan for $33. Not bad at all! In short, expect me to be the app Duchess of Tandoor before long... read more

Ehhhh. This is probably a 2 1/2 star restaurant. Barely passable if you're in a hurry and just need something quick and edible for lunch. That being said, the one and only time I ate here for lunch buffet was about half an hour before the buffet was scheduled to end, so things were wrapping up (read: drying up). I'm not sure if it would have made a difference if I'd arrived earlier, but hot dishes and cold dishes alike were lukewarm. The good: samosas. The bad: pakoras, saag tofu(?!), tandoori chicken, and almost everything else. Also, the bread was denser, oilier and crisper like roti and not like the light, fluffier naan I prefer. We got the non-vegetarian lunch special, and it was the perfect amount, and tasted out of this world. It consisted of tandoor chicken, rice, butter chicken, cabbage, naan, and fritters. Instead, they have a family style option where you sit down and they basically bring a buffet to your table! Although the food at Tandoor is not bad, the restaurant has a very institutional feel. There is little to no artwork on the walls, which I found very strange. Service was OK. The lunch buffet didn't offer a ton of options but did have the usual suspects. However, be sure to read the descriptions (when provided). What I thought was saag paneer was actually lamb saag. Good thing I can eat lamb, because it was very tender and tasty.The chicken tikka curry was not nearly as good. The roti-type bread was nice. I was laughing about the pakora (baby spinach leaves pakora?!) but that was actually really good. Desserts were average, and they didn't have any housemade pickle, but there was something that looked like stuffed jalapenos that may have been pickled (I didn't try it). On the plus side, it opens at 11am. I just can't wait 'til 11:30 or 12 for my Indian lunch buffet sometimes. read more

First of all, 3 bread from bread basket was not cooked properly. When I asked for papad, they said it is extra where as all Indian restaurant doesn't charge at all. At end when I gave my groupon, total changed to very high. Manager think when we paid for groupon it is free for us or so since they have to give half to groupon but they are trying to cover from our expense. I had dinner at this place with my husband and friend. I'm a vegetarian so I would speak for myself. I had ordered Paneer Pasanda which as per the menu was described as 'Homemade cheese cooked in korma sauce with nuts and raisins' there was no korma sauce or nuts or raisins ! It was a basic curry with cubes of paneer which tasted average. The bread basket we ordered had a nice variety of naan bread which compensated for the half heartedly made Paneer Pasanda. My husband had Goat Rogan Josh, he was happy with the taste but not with the portion size as it was very less compared to other restaurants. I just tried this place and I have a few things to say- Chai isn't tea, it is super tea. Tea with powers that make all other teas feel inferior. Tandoor's Indian Restaurant makes phenomenal chai tea. It comes with milk and is so rich, you don't really need sugar in it. After you drink it, chicory remnants spot the bottom of the mug. I drank so much of this stuff, the waiter brought the cooking urn and left it on the table for me to serve myself. Tandoori chicken needn't look fluorescent but I love that it does. This restaurant sells Tandoori chicken in half and full chicken. The portion was generous and unlike many other restaurants, the chicken comes soaking in a sauce of indeterminate composition. The chicken is kinda bland and the rice that came with it may be supplied in a foil packet before it arrived on my plate. Chicken was awesome looking but tasted somewhat flavorless. I can't tell if the restaurant was new, but the room I sat in had nothing on the wall- literally nothing. The thermostat cover was even missing from the wall. The inside is painted green and the floors look to be smooth polished oak. The booths are not affixed to the ground and the tables are covered in the kind of glass that keeps grease from staining cheap wood. The ambiance in the rest of the place was a bit cooler with Ganeshs and such adorning the walls. The light fixtures were cool orange glass with white designs inlaid. The service was terrific. It probably didn't hurt that my wife and I were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time we were there, but the waiter was attentive and friendly. He smiled and made eye contact. I would go back here but it would be on the merits of the chai and friendly service rather than the ambiance and food. read more
