House Special Biryani and Chicken Tikka Masala
    Sydney H.

I love that this spot is so close to our house. We come here whenever we want some delicious Indian food. We came on a friday night and was seated immediately. The place started getting pretty busy for dinner. I love that they brought out a complimentary papadam and chutneys as an appetizer. It was so tasty. We always get different dishes, but for dinner this time we decided to get the house special biryani and chicken tikka masala with an order of cheese naan and garlic naan. Wow. The flavor on both dishes were so rich and delicious!! We had 3 people in our party and left with leftovers. Our server was attentive. Would highly recommend this restaurant!

My family and I love Bombay Curry. It's some of the best Indian food in the area. We've eaten here with a group of 3-6 on numerous occasions and the food is consistently flavorful, hot, fresh, and supremely delicious. We routinely order the samosas, gobi Manchurian, and chicken 65 to start (all delicious but the gobi is one of my favorites anywhere!) For entrees, we get chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, palak paneer, malai kafta, tandoori chicken, amongst others. They've all been great. Their sauces/curries are so well spiced and seasoned, they also ask you to choose a spice level which I appreciate! The service is attentive and everyone we've met is kind and helpful. I highly recommend you come here!

I ordered delivery from Bombay Curry while at the airport hotel and it came fast! It was hot, fresh and super flavorful. I was really impressed with their vegetarian options. I wonder if anything was vegan? It wasn't marked if so, so maybe call and ask if you require that.

Friendly staff, cozy location. I had plain naan and chicken tikka masala that were very tasty! The bonus was the items they gave me before my meal - sauces and a crispy cracker (sorry, I don't know what it was called, but it was oh so good!!)

Indoor and outdoor seating is available. We started with tray of 3 toppings for a very light cracker and also ordered vegetable samosas filled with potatoes and peas. Then had jasmine rice with our meals. Chicken Tikka masala was a huge change for me who typically loves to eat chicken curry. But I'd have this meal again. Aloo gobi with cauliflower and even spicy level 2 was a bit much for a newbie but delicious. Loved the garlic naan and best to eat it fresh! Good service, plenty to eat and delicious food!

Legit the Best Desi Food in North Carolina I only like to eat at desi restaurants that make food better than I do. THIS is the only desi restaurant I eat at. Best service. Best food. Nostalgic atmosphere.

I had the butter chicken and garlic naan, and they both were delicious. I would definitely eat here again and try some other dishes.

I really loved their buffet as it had so many options! I got to try all the things I was curious about but wouldn't order a full serving of. Also, having bottomless Naan is such a bonus. I prefer Naan over rice with Indian food, so I was in heaven! The Chicken Vindaloo was perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. The spice level of the Vindaloo curry was just to my liking. I didn't think the Dal Makhani was spicy enough, but that is expected at a buffet. The Baba Ghanoush was fresh and worked as a palate cleanser. I tried Saag Paneer (cheese cooked in creamy spinach sauce) for the first time and I really liked it! I then filled up on my favorites: Chicken Vindaloo and Naan. I tried one bite of 3 different deserts after that, and they were all unique and pretty sweet. I think the Rice Pudding was my favorite flavor but the Vanilla Rice Pudding was my favorite texture. We came hungry and left satisfied (or stuffed). I can't wait to come back and try more new things!

Everything about this locale is intentional: the lighting, the decor, the colors... it's truly the perfect date spot. I'd like to recognize Sam Sanchez at the bar, who guided me from cocktail to entree and beyond for my eventual second visit while in Raleigh. He listened closely to my taste preferences, and his recommendations were flawless (although I can't imagine ANYTHING on the menu isn't delightful). On my first visit I started with the Byadgi Chili Shrimp and then feasted on the Lamb Sheekh Kebab. The shrimp texture was just right and the coconut sauce is a perfect compliment. The lamb kebab comes in two separate pieces; one is wrapped in naan and the other is naked. The chili beurre blanc sauce has a kick that I really enjoyed! And my favorite: Dal-e Tamasha, 24 hours slow cooked black lentil. My mouth is watering even as I think about it. You might think something as humble as lentils could not make one's heart race... but you would be wrong. My second visit saw me reunited with my dear Dal-e Tamasha plate and what became the pinnacle of my visit to Raleigh: MUSHROOM "MADE IN HEAVEN" dish. It is difficult to describe how AMAZING every bite is. There is a complexity of flavors that somehow blend AND standout. Each nibble of the dumpling and a bit of risotto along a sip of the "umami bomb" is an experience. I am actually very glad I was sitting on the patio dining solo because I was able to give my full attention to this experience. To wrap it all up, I was fortunate enough to try the pink guave lemon lime and tahin sorbet... don't snooze on it, it's a must try! A big shout out to the Tamasha team, owner Mike (thank you for checking on me and chatting up spices and culture!), and Chef Chhatwani for sharing your passion with the world. I can't WAIT to return to Raleigh and visit again.

Tamasha definitely has a unique spin on their Indian cuisines, which correlates with the prices of their dishes. I'd say if you're trying to impress a date or wanting to splurge a bit, Tamasha is definitely your go-to restaurant for dinner**! I don't believe they're open for lunch. While it is pricey here, the ambiance of the restaurant is top notch, so you're definitely paying for an experience! The person at the front desk was super kind and helped me look into which dishes were fine for takeout (there are some items that wouldn't fair well eaten later or packed in a to-go container). The only dish I found myself liking the most would be their tamasha fried chicken. It was breaded nicely and had a refreshing yogurt based dip. The rest of the dishes, such as the tandoori mushroom and butter chicken, and crab moilee (not pictured), were okay. I didn't hate it or like it, but it just didn't pop out in flavor as Indian cuisine for me. The four cheese truffle kulcha (not pictured) was a nice carb appetizer! I was quite surprised at how small the tandoori mushroom dish was. It was just one ravioli cut in half! Still, I guess quality over quantity! I also never figured out which dish the white noodles were supposed to be paired with... Also, if you do takeout, they have a lovely seating area with AC (thank goodness) for folks to sit in. It was nice waiting there for my order to be complete! Overall, it was a 3-3.5 star takeout experience for me.

Instead, a very kind man greeted me and escorted me to a table. The restaurant is very bright inside and a little industrial, but decorated in standard well-worn Indian fare. Their menu is filled with familiar favorites and a couple surprise stand-outs like momo and some Afghani dishes. And to my very pleasant surprise, they offer goat as an option in several dishes. I love goat meat, and can't get it very often, since hardly anyone offers it. So I delighted ordered goat curry, 7 on the spicy scale, and a side of raita, in case the kitchen has a sense of humor. As it turns out, I thought the 7 was fairly med-mild, but my spice level in near super-human. But the kind waitress brought me "Spicy Sauce@ which added a delightful kick!! The curry came with rice and a nice papadaam/chutney set-up. And portions were large enough that I took half home and enjoyed it the next day (when it was even better!!). So definitely an A+ experience. Highly recommended!! Will definitely be back!!!

"Nepalese and Indian food in downtown Raleigh, near Marriott"…read more With a great location, this is VERY close to the Raleigh Convention Center. We arrived on a Thursday night at 6pm with a group of 5. The dining area didn't really accommodate a group that size, but they made it work by moving tables around, which was nice. The place was not very large, but there was maybe only one other family eating inside. The bathroom was clean. I split two dishes with my son-- salmon tikka masala and shrimp (prawn) saag, both coming with rice. We were given some papadum, I think, as a snack as we waited on the food, along with some spicy dips. Food came in maybe 10 minutes or so, which was great timing. However, I have to say, both dishes we tried were underwhelming. The shrimp was oddly translucent and not very flavorful in its dish, and the spinach in the saag wasn't especially tasty (though it did have a nice spiciness). The tikka masala sauce was great, but the salmon also was pretty underwhelming. We both said we'd probably just get chicken next time and not splurge the extra for the salmon. No dish was "bad", but just we expected them to be delicious and they were just OK. I'm just really surprised given how many people said this was the "best Indian" they'd had. The staff were friendly-- refilled drinks well and were good at answering questions. And the price was reasonable. Altogether, I'll give it 4 stars given the great location, good service, good price, but not 5 given the food was "just OK". Realistically, I probably wouldn't go back-- we have lots of great Indian in Durham and Chapel Hill, so I'd rather wait and get that.
