Chicken Kahari!!! Made to order and on the lunch menu. Choose it over Masala. It's incredible.

Stopped by Masala House for lunch a couple days ago and wow it didn't disappoint. When you arrive there is parking in front of the restaurant or up by the soda box across the parking lot. Walking into the restaurant it'll feel bright, airy, and welcoming. To be seated we checked in with the host and were seated quickly. During the week Masala House runs a lunch special from 11 am - 2:30 pm (Monday - Friday) which includes an entree, vegetable soup, naan, rice, and dessert. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and my partner ordered the butter chicken. I definitely prefer the butter chicken as chicken thigh meat was used vs. chicken breast in the chicken tikka masala. Both dishes were excellent and had great flavor. The rice and naan being included was also a nice touch. The vegetable soup at the beginning of the meal was also hot when it arrived and full of flavor. For dessert I ordered the rice pudding which was excellent and not too sweet. If I'm in the north Raleigh area again I'll definitely be stopping by Masala House for lunch. read more

This is the best Indiana food in the triangle area. We really like Mustang House but this place is somehow even better. The spice levels are always perfect. Chicken Tikka Masala and Dal are our go-to's, and anything from their naan selections. Highly recommend. read more

Incredible food! We loved the vegetable momos, the pistachio chicken korma (this was sooooo good), the butter chicken and the garlic naan. Their spice levels were really approachable too. We always start low our first time at a new place. We got a 2, but could definitely go up to a 3 or 4. Service was fast, attentive and kind. The place is clean and cozy. We ordered the Butter Chicken Mild and wanted to try something different, so we ordered the Pistachio Chicken Korma along with the Garlic Naan. This was really delicious, an explosion of flavor. Excellent Indian cuisine. The menu is descriptive and includes spice levels. I was not up for the heat so I opted for the shrimp korma with garlic naan and loved it! Located on Millbrook, Masala House is in a plaza down the road from North Hills. Parking is available right out front. We dined as a party of 3 on a Saturday for dinner. Employees greeted us upon arrival and seated us. Our waiter was very attentive at the beginning of the meal and then disappeared when we had questions and needed takeout containers. Several other employees walking by helped us. We didn't realize that to reduce food waste they don't bring out rice for each individual. Rather they bring larger dishes for sharing. It makes sense once we were informed of the reason 2/3 of us received rice. They do encourage you to request more rice if you want it. The takeout containers seem to be self serve on the shelves in the middle of the room. We all loved our dishes, even the chicken wings were crisp and better than wings served at local bars. Masala House definitely has some great stuff going on and the packed restaurant that I experienced on a Tuesday night reflects it. Here's the deal: The restaurant is on the end of a shopping strip and is much bigger inside than appears from outside, with 25-30 booths and several tables to seat customers. The ambiance is not in a traditional Indian style but is comfortable, very open with higher ceilings and has plenty of light. Service is good. From the greeting at entry to order taking, servers were friendly and generally attentive. A solid four out of five stars. The busyness of the restaurant required staff to juggle a lot of tables which meant getting the server sometimes necessitated a call over and ask. The food is the star and I thought very, very good. I had chicken tikka masala and the sauce was perfectly balanced between the tomato, cream and spices. I like green peppers in my masala but with this recipe it might have actually taken away from the great flavor the chef created. A solid amount of protein, you will not go away wanting with the portion size. Overall an excellent dish and hit all the elements I hope for. The naan was a large portion and also perfectly done. I ordered bindhi masala (okra, peppers and onion in a masala sauce) which was good but not quite the level as the other food. It was sauce heavy in my opinion yet something I would order again. Masala House is not afraid to use heat. I ordered my dishes American hot and it was well on the hot side. Would recommend ordering your typical spice level or perhaps one level down. I stopped in for takeout in a hurry. The menu is Nepali and North Indian, so I went ahead and got some momos. These dumplings were filling, with a mix that apparently included both paneer and tofu as well as vegetables. I ordered my lentils and my okra extra spicy, and as befitting the cuisine they came with a venomous bite. Great little place tucked in the middle of Raleigh. I went on a rainy day - so it wasn't packed at all. Parking was easy. The ambiance was pleasant and the staff very friendly. Man oh man! Caught up with a friend for dinner. We typically meet at an Indian restaurant, as we bond over our love for Indian food. We love when Indian restaurants provide complimentary papadums and chutneys and they do here. We ordered several appetizers and a few were a miss. The star of the show was the salmon tikka masala. Note: This was my first experience with this restaurant. It's in the same strip mall as a Food Lion but tucked away on the side of the building. It's very hard for me to rate a restaurant 1-star because that's really 0 stars and for that to be true, a restaurant has to fail in every count: service, food, environment and it's rare that all three are total duds. Based on those criteria, this is a 2-star experience for me. Here's why: *I arrived at 12pm with only 4 tables occupied aside from me, in the restaurant. 2 tables already had food. *I waited 10 minutes for the server who walked past me twice to even greet me. *I decided to go with the lunch special, which included appetizer (soup), entrée, rice, naan and a choice of two desserts. It was $14.99 for the chicken option. *The lentil soup was overly salty and bland but good texture. *The Karahi was deliciously spiced, the rice average and the naan was also too salty and overcooked (the bottom was more like a cracker than typical). The kheer was average but really cold, which is how I prefer it. *I asked for mixed pickle when I ordered, repeated it twice & finally pointed to it on the menu. I didn't get it, but at least I wasn't charged for it. *He was very animated with those of Indian descent, forthcoming with lots recommendations unprompted but totally indifferent and absent to me. *Not once did he stop by to ask about my meal or if I needed a refill. The interior is...interesting but it's bright, clean and relatively inviting. 2 of my dishes were below average. 2 were averge and 1 was very good. This is the sole reason I rated Masala 2 stars instead of 1. I wasn't sure if driving 8 miles was worth it to go eat Indian after a long day on a plane. I got here and it was filled with customers, they served a small appetizer which was a surprise and delicious. I ordered chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. The chicken tikka masala came out on like a fajita plate that was sizzling with vegetables and chicken. It looked delicious, a separate basket for the garlic naan and a separate dish with basmati rice. A small soup dish filled with the sauce for the chicken. Masala House is a nice clean place to stop in and enjoy some tasty Indian fare! The waitstaff is personable young men, making the atmosphere welcoming. The rice is always fluffy, no globby chunks. Tandoori grill always stands out as an excellent choice. The naan is tender with just right amount of browning. I enjoy the tamarind sauce and the delightful curry sauce with my rice and naan. The rice pudding is nice, serving needs to be larger. The people are nice as you come and as you go. Parking is handy. Dont let the storefront location deter you from entering in and enjoying some delicious food. Take the step, walk in and try the food. You will be glad that you did. I've been here a few times since it's across the street from my office. It's a great place for lunch, the prices are so cheap for the amount of food they give you! And everything I've had has been delicious! My only complaint is sometimes the staff can be a bit absent, they aren't great about checking on the table. read more

We were hesitant about this unassuming spot in a nearby strip mall, but we love hidden gems and we were not disappointed. We easily booked reservations on open table, when we arrived it didn't seem necessary at first but the place very quickly filled up! We had a great seat by the window, all of the furniture felt new and was good space. The noise level rose throughout the night, maybe they could use more sound absorption because we could barely hear the ambiance music. They give you free cracker bread with sauces, this is a nice touch. Drink options with a full bar and very traditional cocktails. I would suggest building a unique cocktail menu, even just a few. We ordered the veg momo and gobi Manchurian and both were delicious! We did level 2 and that felt right for me, hot enough to build the heat over time but not too mild. For our mains, the hubby got goat vindaloo and I got the shahi paneer. He said the goat was hands down the most tender he has had in the area (and we frequent Tamasha), sauce was as expected but he was blown away. My dish was really good, nice and savory, perfect spice level. We ordered the bread basket which is a little of all the naan ....be aware that this a A LOT of bread lol. But the good news is that we have enough naan for the week :) The one kink they need to really work out is the service. It was hit and miss, I think if it had gone a little quicker I would have had another round of drinks and we had to wait quite a while for the check. Otherwise, this is a winner! A great neighborhood restaurant and among the better Indian restaurants in Raleigh/Cary. The offerings are not anything out of the ordinary for our local Indian eateries but the food is very well prepared and very tasty. Spicing was as requested and special requests were heard and fulfilled. The complimentary papadams were especially tasty and the assorted breads tasted freshly made. The only complaint I had was that the fried appetizers, albeit very flavorful, appeared to have been fried earlier in the day and refried in too cool oil prior to serving. That resulted in not really crisp, overcooked, and very greasy apps. Overall rather good and well worth the visit. read more

We ordered the chicken tikka masala spice level: 4 which was packed with flavor and heat. If you like spicy 4 is the way to go. Excellent Indian food. My go-to for good Indian is how well a restaurant does Aloo Gobi (cauliflower and potato curry). The AG here was quite simply delicious, both the potatoes and cauliflower were cooked nicely, the masala base was excellent and the spice level was as requested. The pistachio chicken Korma was also excellent, balanced flavors, generous chunks of well-seasoned chicken made it an outstanding choice. The naan was quite good, maybe a bit small. They do only bring a single serving of basmati rice which I think is smart, many Indian restaurants overwhelm the table with rice that often goes uneaten. The papad were okay, maybe a bit bland but the sauces were very delicious. Overall the service was pretty good, they kept us topped off with ice water, and gave us good to-go containers (no leaks!). Everything reheated very, very well. The prices were also reasonable for the portion size. A definite new favorite Indian restaurant. read more

Recently moved and found this place! Their dishes are so yummy. Their menu is Himalayan and Northern Indian and the spices and dishes are perfect. Their momos are the best momos I've had in a long time. I may have had bad luck as I've only done take out three times so far, but the naan was super dry the first time and super wet the second time. I didn't get any naan the third take out. I think naan can be hard to package to travel great so that may have been it. Everything was so delicious that even the naan falling a little short doesn't detract any stars for me. The balti is epic! And the pistachio chicken korma so good! You will not be disappointed with any dish here. I can't comment on the ambience or service since I've not eaten inside but every time I've called with questions or grabbed my order everyone has been super nice! read more

This place is amazing! My review is solely based on their food to-go. I have never eaten inside of it so I can't comment on it but I have taking food to-go about 4-5 times now. They are always timely and easy to order the food online. The food itself is AMAZING. Their garlic naan bread is delicious and my go to Lamb and Goat Josh Rogan has just the right amount of heat and spice. Their portions are enough for another meal the next day. Their meat samosas can be a little dry but the vegetable one is good. If I ever want Indian food, this is my place to go. read more

This is my choice when I don't want to deal with traffic.The prismatic window coverings are the most visually stunning assets at the House, when it should be the food. The FDA would rate them Generally Regarded As Safe. Along with their sister in Leesville, Bombay Curry, they're consistently average. What stands out is their prices. Recently, I've watched Indian restaurants climb well into the 20s and 30s per plate and, sorry, unless it's Dawat or something, just no. Masala House makes food that tastes like Indian recipes for a better price than other places that charge more and deliver less. Husband and I tried this place yesterday and so glad we did! We started with the Chicken Momo which were flavorful and a great starter. For the main dishes, I ordered Malai Kofta and he ordered Pistachio Chicken Korma. Both very delicious! The garlic naan made me want to fill up on just naan it was so good.
