Pretty bare bones in terms of decor and little ambience. Pretty empty, too. The waiter was friendly and efficient but then disappeared for long periods of time. When people came in to pick up their orders, they were confused as to whether to pick it up and go or let the staff know. Some just took their food and other people called out to get someone's attention. I ordered the Reshmi Chicken Tikka platter and everything tasted good but the combination of the naan, rice and chicken was dry and needed some sauce. The dressing for the salad was really good and I could have drizled that over my rice but there wasn't enough. My friend ordered the Alo palak and liked it. I ordered from doordash today, so the experience may be different for dine in. For lunch, I ordered the lamb curry, garlic naan, and the rice pudding. The curry was okay, the yogurt was very strong. The garlic naan was good. I really didn't like the rice pudding, it was a different taste, color and consistency from any that I have seen, it was like baby food. Tandoori Grill is off of Bethel road right in a strip mall opposite Five Guys. It's a Pakistani restaurant which serves Indian and Pakistani food. Trust me when I say best tandoori (kebabs) in town. The restaurant is small with about 5-6tables but it's run by a very kind gentlemen. Owner is nice and very welcoming, been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Don't go here with high service expectations but go here because you want to try something new that will expand your palate. Took a beef Nihari yesterday along with some tikkas from this restaurant. The price for the nehari was $21.99, but sadly it was full of charbi (fat) with hardly any beef. If you are charging such a high price for your dishes, you need to provide quality food. Was very disappointed to take this nehari from this restaurant. Also, the person who takes the order at the front counter needs to be taught some Customer Service etiquettes as how to welcome and greet Customers. He would not say 'Welcome' or 'Thank You' prior to taking the order and at the time of ringing the Customers out. Terrible Customer Service. Best tandoori chicken roti wrap/roll!!! I have had my share of chicken rolls from around the world, and I'd say the roll I had at TG was top of that list. What a treat with soft tandoori roti with all the extra mint chatni, onions, and cilantro complementing the overall flavor of the tender boneless tandoori chicken. I topped it off with Badam (almond) drink which was served as a dessert at the end. A friend and I brought a new neighbor there from Pakistan. The new guy would only eat halal meat, and so we looked for a few options. This place looked good and convenient, so we met there at 7:30 for dinner. When we arrived, they told us that they would only do take out and they'd be closing soon so we couldn't eat in the dining room. The website says they're open till 8:30 and doesn't say anything about only takeout. We told the guy we'd eat fast and get out, but he said no. Really disappointed. Their quality has gone down over the years, but never this bad. Ordered a family platter for Father's Day dinner. All the rice that came as sides with the order had gone bad. I have tried most of the Indian restaurants in Columbus. Tandoori Grill is among my least favorite. The food is simply not as good, and not worth it even though it's pretty inexpensive. It sometimes looks so old on the buffet. The buffet at lunch is the best value since you get as much as you want, but this is no value if the food looks like shit and tastes worse. I have passed by here many times since there's lots of good restaurants around. It's good there's other places to go. There's several average Indian restaurants near here. It took me awhile to choose this with all the other places, and the first time wasn't that bad. The lunch buffet was the best thing to get here since it's the cheapest and you can get as much as you want. It used to be much better, but now the buffet sucks because there's not much to choose from, and they take forever to refill it. The last time there were only 7 items, and more than half had meat in them. It's about $8 for the buffet. This is cheap for a buffet but it's not that much of anything. I ordered the samosas so I wouldn't have to leave still hungry. The samosas tasted like they were frozen and warmed up. There was spice but otherwise a serious lack of taste in the buffet food. In addition, the service is very poor. The last time there was no one to seat us, and the waitstaff took forever to clear plates and refill water. I would pass by this place and choose another Indian restaurant because there's so many of them. It's still not the worst but it's really bad. Love this place! Their Tandoori chicken is delicious. It's so tender, flavored with just the right seansoning, and the green sauce... Don't know what it's made with, but it can go on anything. Think there's a little lemon juice in there. If Paneer is your thing (cheese cubes), their Palek Paneer, with it's spinach sauce is soooo tasty. We enjoy the Garlic Naan as well. Food was amazing. Garlic naan and Pakistani rice was so good as well as the entrees. Terrible service. One time, I came in 45 minutes before close for dine-in. They kicked me out and said they were closed already. Another time, they gave me a small portion, very inconsistent. They don't like when you come at night. I ordered take out: Alo Palak and two orders of Naan. (I love naan) The entree was delicious, but not very spicy. It was also a little more greasy than most I've had. I'm not sure it will reheat very well at all. It came with rice which was excellently prepared. The naan here is the biggest I have ever had! I was so happy to see such generous portions. And the texture was perfect. I would definitely go here again. You can't beat getting an entree with two naans for only $11. The only negative thing I noticed was that there was nobody around when I came to pick up my food. I stood alone by the register for a few minutes before someone came out. I see a mixed bag of reviews here, but we absolutely loved this place. Honestly, it wasn't our first choice, but Buckeye Pho was so damn crowded and the girlfriend didn't want Min-ga, we settled on Indian. It was a great decision. The place was all but empty on a Friday night, so the service was pretty quick, and we tried a couple of the samosas to start. They're only a $1-1.25, depending on what you get, so I was expecting them to be pretty small, but that was not the case. Before you go ordering 4 or 5 of these, just know that they are fairly big and super filling. Out of the chicken and potato, I'd say the potato was my favorite, and they're filled with all kinds of delicious spices. It's tough deciding on a meal here, because they have so many interesting options, as well as some daring Bizarre Food like entrees like Brain Masala (goat brain). Maybe some day I'll have the courage to give that one a shot, but on this day I went with the goat chops curry and had them make it spicy. This dish is amazing! They give you about 4-5 chops that are tender as can be, and the curry mixed in with the rice and meat was absolutely delicious. Beware of small bone fragments when eating, but you should be able to pick around the few that are there. My girlfriend had the tandoori chicken and absolutely loved it as well. I'm glad to see they're living up to their namesake. A lot of the tandoori chicken I've tried in town has been pretty dry, and that could just be from sitting out on a buffet, but this meat was so delicious. All the great flavors penetrated deep into the meat, and they give you quite a bit of meat, so you won't leave hungry. On a side note, the naan here was delicious! I believe the tandoori chicken comes with naan, but we also ordered a side of the garlic one and loved both of them. Lastly, I always have to order some gulab jamun. They were good, as always, but they're pretty much standard wherever you go. For anyone living close to downtown, this is a little bit of a hike, but it's well worth the drive. There's so many great restaurants in this strip, so it's easy to overlook Tandoori Grill. I don't think the 3.5 stars here really do it justice. The International Corridor (i.e. Bethel Road) is always a good choice when you're casting about for something to suit your fancy. Tandoori Grill is one of the (six?) restaurants in the first northern strip of storefronts along Bethel at 315. They are connected with Apna Bazaar, the Pakistani grocery next door, evident in the freshness of their food and quality of their meat. We started out with chicken samosas, which were served with a creamy and spicy yogurt sauce. The samosas were crisp and savory. Instead of our usual seekh kebabs, we went with goat biriyani and chicken tikka masala. My tikka was spiced about 7/10 - "American spicy." The meat in both our dishes was fall-apart tender, my chicken fresh enough that I could clean the meat completely off the bones. Their rice is flavorful and they give you plenty. Their staff were plenty reserved, as always, but it is attentive and timely service. They are also happy to answer questions and make recommendations (they have a basil drink that is quite tasty) and they give out free appetizer cards. Definitely worth a try when you're on this side of town. read more

I highly recommend the chicken samosas! So tasty and they are the perfect appetizer. I could have easily eaten half a dozen by myself. For an entree, I had the chicken sheekh kabob platter. The chicken was very flavorful - they resemble sausages on the outside, but on the inside the consistency is mushier than you'd expect. The platter comes with rice (a tad dry for my taste), salad, naan, and a delicious yogurt-based sauce to dip (or in my case, pour over the rice). All in all, a good first experience at Tandoori. Tucked into a strip mall on Bethel where it has to compete with Banana Leaf and a few other ethnic restaurants, I'm not sure that Tandoori Grill will be around very long, and frankly Columbus will be worst for it if this restaurant closes. I've been here twice (both visits on week nights, to be sure), and both nights my husband and I were the only customers. The last time I remember writing a view with the purpose of trying to drive business to a restaurant, Bono was still located in the back of a convenience store, but that's what I'm doing now: PLEASE GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. I'm not sure this would be the best place for vegetarians (see aforementioned Banana Leaf instead), but if you enjoy meat grilled to perfection,with tiny bits of blackened goodness on the edges, this is the place for you. My husband is Indian and he raved over the spices, saying this is what it tastes like back home. He was such a huge fan of the biryani that I'm not sure we're going to be eating out at any other restaurants for quite a long time. So far he's tried goat and chicken biryani and loved both of them. I'm kind of meh on biryani in general, so I choose other dishes, and they've been great. I did order the famous Basil Drink, which looks like frog egg suspended in pink liquid. I was expecting a green, basil flavored drink,so imagine my surprise when it turned out to be rose flavored, which I'm NOT a fan of. However, my husband thought his Coconut Drink was too sweet, so we switched and each of us were very happy with the trade. To give you an idea of how great Tandoori Grill is, we visited there two more times in the week following when we first discovered it as part of the Columbus Food Adventures meat lovers tour. The food there is just that good. Not only that, we will frequently bring our of town guests here when going out to dinner. Everyone has been consistently impressed by the quality of the food. The chicken leg and thigh is probably our favorite dish on the menu and someone, or often multiple someones, will order it on any given trip. The boneless chicken has the same seasoning and is prepared the same way. Thankfully it's not dried out like all too many tandoori chicken dishes you'll get elsewhere. And none of that food dye for coloring, you can tell that all of the color comes from the spices. We've had most of the stewed dishes as well, and they also have been quite good. The korma and the tikka masala have been particularly excellent. As have been the chana masala. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the naan, which is some of the best in the city. Or anywhere really. All of the dishes benefit from the fact that they have actual tandoor ovens. That means, among other things, that the naan is cooked the traditional way--stuck to the side of the oven! read more

I didn't realize till I got my food: I mistook my dish and thought it was going to be "dry rub" tandoori chicken kabobs. It was tandoori chicken chunks with a spicy sauce all mixed in. While the dish wasn't bad, I plan to go back and try the plain 'ol tandoori meat. I also got a side of four Samosas. Now those were great! Meat filled, and I mean FILLED, to the brim. This was a wonderful restaurant, very small but looked and smelled clean and well maintained. Though our host had an accent that was sometimes a little difficult to understand he was friendly and helpful. The menu isn't huge but is very well priced, and the food was FANTASTIC. The butter chicken was the best I've ever had anywhere, and the chicken qorma was tender and sweet, though it does have bones in it which might not be everyone's cup of tea. I would say they tend spicier, I asked for mild and my paneer tikka masala was almost too spicy, easily a 3 out of 5 at other restaurants. The flavor was still amazing! Our potato samosa was delicious as well, HUGE. I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this establishment.
