Ambience: 4/5 We decided to give this place a try for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. When we walked in, there two other groups of two people but no workers. We decided to just sit and as we did a worker came out of the kitchen and we just nodded at each other as we sat down. That pretty much sums up the service we had - very no nonsense and no conversation. This doesn't bother us much, but if you are the kind of person that likes to be attended to then you might have felt a little weird about it. They also weren't playing music for the first 10-15 minutes, so it was a little awkwardly quiet. Once the music started back up, I felt like the atmosphere got a little better. Food 5/5 I had checked out their menu online and was really excited to see they had Pani Puri! I have always wanted to try it, but it isn't very common in Indian restaurants. We really enjoyed it but I personally would have liked an option to up the spice or maybe have some chilis on the side. Veg Samosas were perfect - no notes! So yummy with the green chutney Tikka Masala with Chicken - really can't go wrong with this dish but man this one had us scraping the plate! So good and the rice comes included which is not always included so that was nice. Garlic naan and was also good! Perfect with the Tikka Masala Mango Lassi was good - not the best I've ever had but it was still refreshing in this hot afternoon. Flavors were great, I really loved the butter chicken sauce, the chicken was a bit of a let down, had a tendon-y texture. They use a mix of light and dark meat I noticed. When the Itch for Indian food needs scratching, the Tandoori Guys is probably the best option you have in Oceanside. This is one of four locations in San Diego County. I placed my order over the phone for take out, and it was ready in about 20 minutes. When I walked in to pick it up, the place was about 80% full and the food smelled great. Tandoori Guys did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was excellent. Chicken Tiki Masala, Butter Chicken Curry, Sag Paneer, Yellow Dall, Chana Masala, Basmati Rice, Garlic Naan and Papadams. The food is very flavorful and the chicken was nice and tender. We ordered everything medium spicy, but it really tasted like it was hot spicy. We all worked up a sweat eating it. I'm not complaining. Usually when I order food at a medium spice, I can barely taste the heat, but there is plenty of heat to be had over here. Definitely delicious. This place is great! The lunch special really gives you enough to eat and a nice variety. It's a great way to try their food if you're a first-timer to Indian cuisine. Their food is mildly seasoned. I knew upon entering that I would absolutely love this place; the ambience and decor are elegant and stunning! There's lots of black, some gold and walls of mirrors that open up the interior. The food came out fast; everything was delicious without the sauce accompaniments. The samosas were a bit salty but I had a huge carafe of water to myself. I didn't know the chicken was going to be bone-in; I was so happy to get drumsticks! My server was friendly and calm (which translates to: soft-spoken). I arrived close to opening time with a few other patrons... it was fairly quiet but I had trouble hearing him even when he was right next to me. Tandoori guys has just opened in Oceanside!! We stopped by a few minutes before they opened, but they saw us and opened the doors so we didn't have to wait outside. Our experience is below.. Eats. * Butter naan. Delicious! * Garlic naan. Really can't go wrong, especially if you like garlic. It's delicious and addicting. * Mango lassi. Kids split a cup and loved it. * Chicken korma (comes with rice). This was my favorite. I love the chicken peshawari from the Carlsbad location, and was pretty happy when they said the chicken korma was the same thing. The chicken was tender and the curry itself was packed with flavor. * Tikka masala (comes with rice). A great option if this is your fave/go-to. You can't go wrong with it. We ordered both the korma and tikka masala mild - but both dishes had the perfect flavor with a little kick to it, it was perfect for someone who can't do anything spicy! Location. Next to North Coast Roastery, to the right of the Finn hotel and the Switchboard restaurant. We love the Carlsbad location, but it's a little far for us so it was great to see they opened up here! Great place! Indian food is typically pretty expensive, but Tandoori Guys has really reasonable prices and even have happy hour for wine. Food was really good, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you're eating at a 5-star restaurant at a 3-star price. The butter chicken was decent-nothing offensive but nothing to write home about. Saag paneer was so salty I couldn't eat it. Unfortunately I ordered takeout so not much could be done. Veggie samosa was another decent item. A little lacking in flavor and mostly just potato but the sauces were good. Absolutely amazing food and service! The dishes didn't just taste amazing, they were also presented beautifully. If you at all like fish, the tandoori fish was cooked to perfection--moist and flaky on the inside with a light char on the outside (and it's also healthier option, without any sauces added). The best Indian food I've had in the US, and better than plenty of places in India. I wish I had tried this place sooner. The only change I would make: Yelp and Google both say they open for lunch at 11:00am, which needs to be corrected. They don't open until 12:00 noon. read more

I got the Butter Chicken and it comes with a large portion or rice, curry chickpeas, salad AND 2 pieces of garlic naan bread. It's like 14 or 15 bucks and it's such a big portion and so delicious . I came in last night at around 8pm. I was asked if I wanted to order for there or to go so I said dining in was fine. The guy at the front told us we can sit anywhere so we seated ourselves. My boyfriend n I already knew what we wanted but before we could even say anything our waiter comes up to us to ask us to order takeout. We were confused since we were told we could seat ourselves by someone else a second ago. We were initially really excited to try this place so we asked our waiter if we could still dine in and he said no because they're closing in an hour...we were hungry so we just ordered takeout. We finally get our menus and are ready but our waiter has walked off and started talking to another worker for a while which was odd with his sense of urgency for getting us out of the restaurant. We ordered and when our waiter asked us what a good name for our order was (we gave him a very regular run of the mill name) he laughs and says it's a good name. Which confused us a bit but we got our food soon after and left. We weren't given any utensils or napkins so we went to a near by 7/11 for that and went to the beach in Carlsbad (the next city over) made our own plates out of the boxes provided and set ourselves up to eat. By the time we finished eating it was 8:45... we took our food and ate it at the beach in the next city over and it wasn't even their closing time by the time we finished eating yet.... They were very rude and didn't even let us dine in... from all the reviews it seems as though they are very much so not trying to fix their service as they claim because they didn't even let us eat in the restaurant because they were set to close in an hour. They have bad reviews dating back months and months and months always claiming they'll do better but clearly they aren't doing better. The food was super overpriced for it being pretty average with terrible service. There are many much better places that will actually value you as a customer. I could have gone anywhere else but I wanted to give them a try,but next time I will make sure that I do go somewhere else. read more
