I LOVE duck but I'm very particular about how its cooked. Once I saw that had duck, I had to try it and was absolutely not disappointed. Heaven on a plate! The appetizers were all amazing that we couldn't pick a favorite because it was genuinely so fresh and so good. Actually really good and in a crappy shopping plaza. I was skeptical but the food was very good. Not the best thai I have had but I would easily be influenced to go again. Only issue is they did not have Masaman curry!~ Closest thing is KANG KA REE (YELLOW CURRY) I have Pad Se ew- Very good, maybe a bit on the sweet side but good. I will be back for more for sure. Good ambiance. Nice and clean and looks new inside. We were met with a very warm welcome. There was no wait and we took the last of a few tables. Feels like a family business and service was very attentive. The satay chicken was really, really good....moist and juicy with two sauces. The picture I took was a half order. How is this gem not busy? So we were on our way to Olive Garden and saw BKK Thai Kitchen and decided that that sounded better. Yes, it's located in a strip mall. But sometimes those places are the tastiest of places. When you first walk in, you notice that the lights are dimmed. Plenty of seating and lots of Thai decor. You get the vibe that this is a family restaurant. We were quickly greeted and sat wherever we wanted. We were brought infused water. And placed our order of pad Thai with chicken and an order of pineapple fried rice. Yes, you read that right. Trust me, it's delicious. My husband and I split the dishes and it was more than enough for the two of us with enough for a breakfast the next morning. Looking forward to going back. read more

We shared the following: - Kang Pla Curry - Spicy Eggplant with Vegtables - Hot Basil with Chicken - Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango We got all the hot dishes level 8 out of 10 spicy level. There was plenty of parking on this Saturday evening. Everyone is right about service being very friendly (it's a family run business) and welcoming! Even their water is flavored uniquely with orange, spices, watermelon, and other things. The music playing reminded me of a massage parlor, it was very relaxing. We ordered their Pad Thai with tofu, BKK fried rice, and Green Curry with Chicken. It all was delicious!! Their dishes are a little pricey (I guess it's becoming the norm) at $17.99 per a dish. Clean and a nice atmos. Server was outstanding. The tea and water were infused with fruit and were amazing. Potstickers were good, if a tad bit over done. A bit too crispy. The hot basil chicken was yummy but needed More basil. The Tom Yum Noodles were more Tom Foolery. Not good at all. Watery and bland as can be. We told the manager and they removed it form the bill and at least tonight it was an okay place. Not a great place. And.... $5 for iced tea (cost maybe .25) it just not acceptable. read more

First impressions: The decor was pleasing, the air smelt really nice, and the host seated us quickly. I was there with two friends. Our order was taken almost immediately and the waiter asked for clarification when needed. I ordered the Tom Kha, friend number 1 ordered a noodle dish, and friend number 2 ordered a chicken-based dish. I enjoyed my soup and so did friend number 2, who tried some. Friend number 1 enjoyed the noodles and they smelled spectacular. They're not a fan of sharing food so I didn't try them but friend 2 and I shared our dishes and the chicken dish was really nicely cooked, and was one of the few times I've had properly cooked chicken. I ordered a tea (I don't recall what kind) and it came out perfectly steeped at an acceptable temperature. The experience was really nice and the check came out to a great price considering we got three dishes and a drink. Some of the cons: The food took a while to come out, about 30 minutes. There was a child who was taking orders, and he looked to be only 10 years old. I personally don't know how child labor laws play into that, but it was weird. There was also an odd sound coming from one of the vents. Pretty distracting for friend 1, they have APD. Overall, it's a nice restaurant with room for improvement. Hope that weird vent sound gets fixed, sounds like something is broken. read more

Not happy you put my boiling soup into a paper container. So half the soup seeped through the paper and is in the paper bag what a mess and waste of my money. Two weeks ago we ordered dinner but left without ordering dessert because other customers kids were screaming and running around. You have a child working in your restaurant. I am so boring when it comes to trying new items on the menu when I go to a Thai Restaurant. Red curry Thai with chicken, peppers, onions and a side of rice. I have tried the yellow curry as well as the green curry, but there is something hearty about the red curry/chicken combination that I just love. So of course, I ordered the red curry. My Best Friend and her Hubs ordered the eggplant and the drunken noodles. As I said before, I don't usually try anything else on the menu, but this was the opportunity to try something new without feeling like it would be wasted if I didn't finish it or like it. The drunken noodles were very flavorful and I liked the crunch of the bean sprouts with the soft feel of the noodles. I especially like the fact that there are veggies with this dish, so it's not just a serving of carbs. The eggplant dish was so full of flavor and it had lots of perfectly cooked veggies. There was a glaze on the dish that coated the rice and I have changed my mind when it comes to being open to trying new things on the menu. Carlsbad has a little gem in it's town. Great service, nice ambiance, and the food is what you would expect. I wanted to order the Kra Tong Thing, but they were out, so I ordered the curry puff instead. It's not spicy, and it comes with a cucumber chutney, which was mostly made up of simple syrup. The fried spring rolls were fantastic! We were pleasantly surprised to see that they contained thin clear noodles in them, which is not common. The Pad Thai was on the sweet side but edible. Came here in Mother's Day to beat the crowd and to or surprise we had missed a rush so it was perfect timing. Welcomed with friendly and courteous service we dined and it was just great. We stopped by en masse to celebrate my birthday (only 70) and had a lovely meal. The appetizers were delicious - I got the sampler to share. Mama, not a Thai officianado, enjoyed her Pad Thai. My Basil Pork was superb. As I looked around the table, smiles were on every face and almost every plate was wiped clean, good to the last grain of rice. DO NOT miss out on the FBI dessert (Fried Banana and Ice Cream) that somehow managed to fit into my girth. A fantastic meal with wonderful service and a good time had by all. We've been going to BKK for ~8 years and will continue to do so. Every meal we have had has been perfect in flavors, drunken noodles are always our favorite and on our order. I've tried at least 5-6 Thai places in the area, and it's one of the better ones, but still okay at best. The drunken noodles were clumpy and had a sweet flavor that I didn't like. Chicken was dry. I put off coming here for years because: I have my usual haunts on this side of town, I'm not the biggest fan of Thai food, and... the higher price point was a huge deterrent. Fast forward to this week, as I stopped in not on a whim and with high expectations because of a real-life/fellow Yelp buddy's photos and glowing review. Learning that they are open for dine-in made me change my order because I was so happy for a full dining-in experience. I'm mostly writing this so I can remember that Spicy Eggplant with heat level 2 was perfect for me. I also had curry puffs and a Thai iced coffee. Everything was colorful, fresh and of high quality. Business operating during the pandemic, "thank you" Review #5 since we're not getting outta the house much these days, when we do takeout, we always order enough for lots of leftovers​. not surprisingly, being creatures of habit not just in what we order, but where we order it, BKK Thai's one of our regular stops. the teenage boy's a freak for all things salmon, and loves BKK's Penang Salmon dish. he worked his heat tolerance up to level 4. the teenage girl's suddenly vegan (apparently, menu planning wasn't challenging enough in the Age of Covid), and i'm happy to take a break from making her separate-but-equal meals. tofu, hold-the-egg, substitute fish sauce Pad Thai, various eggplant dishes, and BKK curry puffs satisfy​ her regime and her cravings. me, i'm happy with a plate of green papaya salad (som tam) and Kow Soy (Khao Soi) with duck. ps: don't forget to tip your server. i know it's takeout but express your appreciation to the folks working hard to satisfy your Thai food cravings during these difficult days. read more

Updated review - I have been coming here for years now and I love it. The food and service are consistent and good. Some of my favorite dishes are the Panang curry, Kua noodles, and Tom Kha. Also, the decor is pretty without feeling too fancy for a casual meal. It's still a tad pricey compared to some other restaurants, but not really out of the norm for Thai food. Younger me probably didn't have realistic expectations for restaurant costs. read more
