We got the Chefs Special - Butter Chicken We got it two times. They ask you what level of spice 1-10 and we got an 8 on one and another completely mild, no spice for our children. Gosh they were so delicious! We also ordered the garlic butter naan and the butter naan We couldn't get enough of it, we ended up ordering one more garlic naan. Both were also delicious! My 3 yr old son ate almost the entire butter one My 7 year old loved the garlic one He kept calling it his tortilla and would use it to scoop his rice and curry sauce and a piece of chicken and called it his perfect bite. The rice has cilantro on it which is so aromatic and fresh. So yummy and flavorful They really set the standards high for Indian food. Just ate the best, most savory, creamy, delicious chicken tikka masala of my entire life. I never knew curry could be so flavorful, even after trying a bunch of other spots in San Diego county. The melting ghee on top was a perfect touch. Even the white rice tasted good and helped absorb the curry for each perfect spoonful. The cheesy garlic naan was a mandatory accessory to help scoop the rice and set a piece of chicken covered in curry on top. It was a great way to help clean the tikka masala off the bowl and feel very satisfied. Ticca Tikka's service is also on-point. Jesse helped us tonight and he was very friendly and communicative. Listen, I really wanted to love this place. As someone who spends a lot of time scouting the Oceanside food scene, I'm always on the hunt for a spot that brings good food here. Ticca Tikka nails the presentation, but the palate? Not quite there yet. Walking in, the vibe is decent, but the sensory experience starts with the nose. The highlight of the meal--and arguably the only truly memorable part--is the tandoori presentation. Every tandoori dish comes out on a sizzling cast-iron plate. The aroma is incredible; it fills the room and builds an immediate expectation of a flavor explosion. Unfortunately, the sizzle is a bit of a tease. While the smell is a 10/10, the actual taste falls flat... Across the board, the seasoning was surprisingly timid. For a cuisine known for its depth, these dishes lacked the punch and complexity I was looking for was absent with apparently no layering of spiices. You expect a powerhouse of ginger, garlic, and garam masala, but you're met with something pretty pedestrian. If you're looking for a "safe" entry point to Indian food or just want a cool photo of a steaming plate for the 'gram, this might satisfy. So glad to see another Indian restaurant in Oceanside. Very tasteful atmosphere. Staff was very helpful and friendly. It was late afternoon on a Saturday. We stopped in just to look at the menu but decided to try the cheesy garlic naan $7.49, Mango Lassi $5.99, and my favorite Masala Chai $4.99. Everything was delicious. It is a family owned business and they have another store in Temecula. I am visiting right now so I have no more time to go fora full meal but I will be back in November and look forward to trying it out. In the meantime, I am telling my family and friends all about so they can stop in. Come hungry cause it's a lot of food! I tried some new dishes and everything was just so good. The waiter was really helpful with our dietary restrictions like being gluten and dairy free and also allergic to nuts. He was very accommodating and explained things well. The inside is nice and decorated well. I've been to some Indian food places that really need a good interior vibe and was so pleasantly surprised to see that the booths were nice, cute wallpaper and chandeliers. Lots of seating. Hands down the best Indian food I've had in California so far. The aloo mattar was absolutely excellent! Perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. I also had the nimbu pani, which was so refreshing and the perfect complement to the meal. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and told to sit wherever we pleased. Menus were brought over shortly after; they unfortunately only offer soft drinks but have amazing food options. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, and we absolutely loved the dishes they used to serve our food. My husband ordered the butter chicken, and I enjoyed the tikka masala. Fortunately, a number of Indian restaurants have opened in Oceanside in the last few years and Ticca Tikka has the best food of them all so far. I would say that they have some of the best Indian food in North County San Diego. Some of the my favorite dishes are the Fish Curry, the Butter Chicken, and I just tried the Saag Chicken and it was really good as well. The service is friendly. They have not been open too long so the restaurant is usually not crowded. I am really hoping more people go by and try it so it can stick around for a long time. We rolled into Ticca Tikka hungry. The second you step inside, it's got that warm, cozy energy: great decor, soft lighting, the kind of place that makes you stop scrolling in your brain for a minute. Our server was the nicest we've ever had. Not "scripted hospitality" nice--like genuinely kind and polite in a way that makes you feel like you accidentally walked into your new favorite spot. The vegetable pakora hit the table crispy and perfect, but the real moment was this mystery seasoning sprinkled over it. No clue what it was, but it had this bold, addictive flavor that made us keep going back like, "Okay ONE more." The cheesy garlic naan, which is basically a guaranteed good decision because you can't go wrong with garlic and cheese... was warm, buttery, stuffed, and very much the kind of thing you protect with your life once it's on the table. The chicken tikka taco was the surprise MVP. Chicken tikka wrapped up in a cheesy naan situation, topped with cabbage and cilantro for crunch and freshness--so good you'll forget to chew politely. The only warning: it comes out mouth-melting hot, like "burn your soul a little" hot. Let it cool for a minute unless you're trying to lose your taste buds. Dessert sealed it. The gulab jamun tasted like it had been soaking in syrup for hours (as it should), soft and rich and basically pure comfort. And because you can't eat Indian food without ending the night the right way, we grabbed a mango lassi to-go--the perfect sweet, creamy finisher for the ride home. TL/DR: cozy spot, unreal service, and every bite hit. Ticca Tikka is absolutely worth a stop. Save this place, go hungry, and don't pretend you're "just getting one thing." Service and food were all on point considering it was opening day, seems like they really have it together. Lamb roganjosh was delicious, well-spiced. Somewhat expensive but a large generous portion. Although it looks a little small in my pic, the bowl is deep. The entree doesn't include naan which increases your cost a little bit if you want the full Indian food experience. My naan was a flakier, crispy style, very tasty. Medium spicy was really hot, would probably be a high at most places. Consider aiming low if you're heat sensitive. I recently visited a lovely new restaurant in downtown Oceanside, and I have to say it really impressed me. I was a bit skeptical at first, but the moment I stepped inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The space has just been beautifully renovated & everything shines fresh and new. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel like you're in for something special. I decided to try their lamb biryani, which came with a bowl of raita, a serving of daal mahni, and a small, crisp salad. The biryani itself was excellent - aromatic & perfectly spiced. I enjoyed it so much that I had to order some to-go for my family, and my son loved it as much as I did. For dessert, I had chai paired with gulab jamun. The chai was perfectly spiced and unsweetened, exactly how I like it. Not to mention the portions were small even though the price points were higher or comparable to other Indian restaurants in the area. I didn't even finish any of my food. The best indian I have had in Oceanside. The only problem is they include a comically small amount of rice with the curry main dishes. It's a real bummer to order ~$100 of takeout for a group and to have it arrive with half of the necessary amount of rice. Rice is cheap, seems like a pointless miss by a restaurant. read more
