Based on the reviews, I noticed Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine is a very popular restaurant in Carlsbad Village where you can enjoy Indian, Nepali, and Tibetan delights. I tried it recently and had an opportunity to savor the authentic flavors. Overall, I had a good experience. The Mango Lassi was excellent...refreshing and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. I ordered the Vegetable Pakora to try something new and it was deliciously crispy. For my Palak Paneer, the sauce was seasoned perfectly with a velvety consistency along with spices and just the right amount of minced spinach with yummy homemade cheese cubes. It's very casual...the atmosphere cozy with the intimate lighting. The service was friendly from the one and only server and menu options reasonably priced in my opinion. Luckily, my timing was just right for dinner...it wasn't too busy for the server to handle. I'm thinking it's a lot for one person but it's worth a visit if you're in Carlsbad.

Plenty of street parking space close to the restaurant. This place was not busy around 5:30pm and we were seated immediately. The ambiance was pleasant and a great representation of Nepal and Tibetan culture. We kicked off our evening with Chai and it was excellent. We later ordered Salad, curries, and naan. The lamb saag was delicious and creamy. We ordered spice level 7 on Karahi chicken and the heat didn't let us down. The butter chicken was OK. Overall the meat was tender and well cooked. They went good with garlic cilantro naan and rice. For a Nepali restaurant, we had high expectations on the momos but unfortunately they were overcooked and dry.

Date of visit: March 2026. -Prices were reasonable. -Good variety on the menu. -Food was good and plenty enough for us to take some home. -Located a little 'away' from Carlsbad village, closer to the freeway. -We parked on the street. I'm not aware if there was a private lot. -The restaurant was quiet when we were there -- most patrons were coming in for take-out. ~Service was swift, but the staff are quiet types that don't say much or smile. This is where it lost a 'star' for me. -Looks nothing from the outside, but cozy-eclectic inside with lanterns, yogi and photo artwork. I would visit again if in the area. Helpful?

Been here twice now with my wife. The first time we ordered veggie samosas which was excellent, aloo gobi which was good, a sizzling shrimp dish which was so-so, and garlic naan. This time we ordered samosas again, lamb tikka masala which was super delicious, veggie korma which was so-so, garlic cilantro naan which was good, and pickles which tasted like Chinese medicine, which we didn't like. Food comes out quick and service is polite. Restaurant is nicely decorated and clean which is nice. Although some of the dishes weren't to our liking, we will go back and try other dishes.

I hate to leave negative reviews, but I was very disappointed with this restaurant. We chose to give it a try because it had a 4.7 review and the pictures of the food looked great. The butter chicken was not aromatic and did not taste like butter chicken, lacking in that great curried flavor. As you can see the chicken was very uniform in size and shape, similar to frozen chicken strips with a tough, fibrous texture. Most Indian restaurants have tender chicken that is easily shredded and clearly off the bone. The papad seemed stale. The kheer was thick and chunky and was not creamy and sweet as traditional kheer. I realize that everyone has uniques tastes and preferences but this was not the traditional Indian take out we expected. :( However, the service was great, fast and the associates were very friendly!

One of the best Indian foods I've ever had. Spice is actually spicy and food is flavorful. Only complaint I have is the amount of protein. But I let the waiter know and he was happy to give me more chicken. Definitely a go to!

Tap to bottom service, food, quality, and value 100% spot on. When I came in there was only a couple seated. I've been here for over an hour and there's at least 10 people inside and at least 10 people picked up food. It's a very popular place but it must be one of these low-key places that not enough people know about. I would eat here with friends, but it's not a place to go for ambience. It's a place you shouldgo to eat great food. I'm about to leave the place is packed. Come eat enjoy the best Indian Nepali food in town.

Indoor vibes with lots of natural light.

One of the best lunch specials around. I adore aromatic Indian food and occasionally wake up craving it. This was one of those days. I stopped in for lunch and took advantage of their weekday specials which start at $11.99 and run Mon-Fri (excluding holidays) from 11am-2:30pm. You get to choose two curries, served with lentil soup, rice, and naan. Such a great deal! The saag aloo had a deep, earthy flavor and was wonderfully savory. I loved the warm spices and the potatoes were perfectly tender. The chicken tikka masala leaned slightly sweet but still great, very creamy with clean cuts of chicken. Spice levels here are very mild so don't be shy. They offer a scale from 1-10 and at my 3 I needed more heat. Next time I'm going for 5. The rice and buttery naan were delightful and I especially appreciated how saucy everything was and the curry to rice ratio. Service was friendly and attentive. I loved the natural light pouring in through all the windows, making it perfect for people watching. The ambiance was warm and welcoming with colorful peace flags fluttering overhead. There's plenty of free street parking, plus a small shared lot tucked behind the building. A solid 4.5 star experience.

While working in the field I had to take a break. This place was smack dab in front of me and I had to give it a try. Looks like a family-owned / operated restaurant and all the awesome quaint-ness of families interacting with each other, too. Such great energy. The food is amazing! I ate everything aside a little rice. It's ALL in my belly. The Saag is chicken tikka masala + creamed spinach with coconut milk. I'm not 100% on the ingredients but thats how it tasted to me. Soooo good! The Garlic Naan is like fries with your burger. Get it! The Himalayan soup, though it came first deserves to be discussed. Being from the Philippines and growing up with what we call Sambal which this soup has a lot of those qualities reminded me of home. The Philippines . Me as 6 years old. I don't get that sensation often anymore. That was nice. I'll definitely come back.

Truely amazing food, my experience here was 10/10. Customer service was perfection, got greeted right upon coming inside, sat us down and immediately had water brought to us. The waiter checked up on us, but not too much and made nice conversation and even complimented our piercings! The ambiance was delightful with a bunch of beautiful decorations and nice lighting It was calm and not busy, I did not feel rushed or uncompfortable in any way, very laid back dining. The food was great, their mango lassi is very tasty, i recommend trying their veggie soup, it's something I wouldn't usually order but it was so good!

I was craving some Indian food with my husband because we can never decide on dinner together. I looked up any good Indian/Himalayan restaurants around Carlsbad & I was happy to run into this one based on reviews. Parking can be kind of limited, so plan accordingly. We got lucky and we were able to find one right next to the entrance of the restaurant because we came on a weekday evening. Once entering, it was quiet. No one was in there except us but the interior and decor was beautiful. Very true and rich to their culture and also very clean. We were welcomed, seated, and serviced right away. We decided to go with a Chicken Tikka Masala to share, garlic naan, vegetable samosas, and a Mango Lassi. We waited a while to have our order be put in but they seemed to be busy arranging a catering order, which was okay. The food took a while to come out as well, also okay even though I was so hungry. I was glad at this point that the vegetable samosas came out quickly and they were delicious as always. The sauces were good! Slightly disappointed in the portions as the curry arrived. The curry was served on a beautiful silver tin bowl container but it was extremely small compared to most Indian restaurants I've been to. Luckily we had so much extra sides that we were feeling satisfied by the end of it. It was our first time trying the mango lassi & it was thick and creamy, also very rich in flavor. I'd say for the price, it was worth it surprisingly. It was much cheaper compared to most places and we had a dinner for only about $35. That's so rare nowadays in this economy so I'm still thankful!

Casual, unassuming eatery located at the corner of an intersection. Lots of Himalayan/Indian decor. The service was friendly and food was served relatively fast. Dishes we ordered were lamb biryani, chicken korma and mushroom tikka masala. The tikka masala was on the sweeter side and a bit too similar to the korma. While the portion of the chicken was decent, the paucity of slices of mushrooms was drowned in the curry. We ordered 3-4 spice level and wasn't spicy at all. If you want spice, I would definitely go above 5. Nothing really stood out but it's ok if you're craving for curry. One plus is that rice came with entrees.

Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine is an excellent Indian/Himalayan restaurant in Carlsbad! I loved their Korma--it was so creamy and flavorful. It had the perfect balance of sweet and savory and their spice levels were on point. I also enjoyed their Momo!

Beautiful area with lots of kids playing by the fountain. Sitting is inside or outside the restaurant. Lady who greeted us were very nice. All tables were taken outside so we sat inside the restaurant looking out to the fountain area. Place was decorated nicely with pillows on some of the sittings. Really cute place and cozy. Three of us were hungry and the aroma coming from the kitchen made us twice as hungry. We ordered 2 vegetable dishes, Palak Paneer and Aloo Matar. The Palak Paneer which is spinach with cheese was delightful. It is our favorite vegetable dish and tied our entrees together. It's comforting and savory. The Aloo Matar fresh peas and potatoes were as delicious but hard to compare with the Paneer. I did like the peas a lot. For our entrees we had the Chicken Kadai, Lamb Tarkari and Chicken Tandoori. All came with basmati rice. The chicken kadai had a nice spicy kick. The lamb was tender and lots of cinnamon notes. The tandoori was crispy, tender and juicy. The Garlic cilantro naan was tasty, soft and buttery and great with soaking in all the curry sauce. All the flavors hit the right spot and were all delicious! We had a tiny leftover left of the rice, naan and Aloo Matar. Otherwise we devoured our entire meal. It was that yummy!!! We love this place. Everything about our experience felt like your grandmother or aunties made these food just for you. It was that authentic and cozy! If you're by Carlsbad and want to experience the taste of Nepal, Indian and Tibetan cuisine, this place is for you. They will treat you like family.
