    Sashimi Dinner

Just found my new favorite spot! I especially loved their nigiri, everything tasted very fresh and high quality!! The sauce of the white wine mussels were excellent. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Price is reasonable, definitely would come back!

There's not a ton of seating, but we got a table quickly. The service was quick, and even though the place was small, it felt more cozy than cramped. I liked having the menu on the wall! They had two vegan options, and my partner & I both got the Biang Biang noodles. It was good, and perhaps even better the next day (the serving was big enough that I couldn't finish it). My sister got the Jjajiang Mian & absolutely loved it. This was a very positive experience, but not mindblowing--I think that the hype around the "M" restaurants perhaps raised my expectations a bit too much. It's also possible that their non-vegan options are stronger than their vegan options. Overall, though, very yummy, the prices are very reasonable for Durham ($16 for the Biang Biang noodles), and I would come back & try the veggie curry if given the chance.

I was disappointed however when they told me they are currently out of the vegan udon curry dish, which was 1/2 items I could eat. Nevertheless, I ordered the other dish, Biang Biang Noodles. The store was not full, there were two servers and at least 3 tables that were empty but the wait time to get my single dish or noodles took over 30 minutes - way longer than expected. While the noodles were well cooked and packed with flavor, I felt that the dish was far too oily and without much tofu/protein. Perhaps the other meals are less oily and more protein packed, but for being the only vegan option available that day, unfortunately this is all I have to offer at this time.

Five of us - 2 hibachi meals, 2 sashimi eaters, and 1 sushi. The server was very knowledgeable and did an outstanding job with food allergies. I dined in this time and the yellow curry actually all of the curries were sweet as hell which isn't usually how they make it. Me and my sisters were fine with the sweetness but my friend didn't like it at all, she got the beef yellow curry. The beef was really dry, and it was super sweet. She decided not to eat it at all, literally took a taste of the broth and a nibble of the beef. We asked our waitress if the manager could come over. Mike, the manager was so rude about it. He said we were "Trying things" on the menu and this isn't the place for samples and it kind of confused me because it's not like we sent everything back that we were eating. And he brought out a sheet with their policy On no refunds for food, just rude and weird. Overall we still paid for it since that's what his problem was. But I'll never be back after that. Not sure who hired him but he should never step foot in a restaurant again. Oh and they advertise the $9.00 curry lunch special however they said they don't do that anymore

I just can't believe all these good reviews after I went to Peony for lunch about 1 pm on Thursday…read more There was not another soul in the restaurant save two employees. I ordered poke. It was mostly rice mixed with sad iceberg lettuce ( mixed greens ) and the toppings were skimpy. For $18 this was disappointing. It was supposed to have three proteins. I added radish, crunchy onion and edamame. It was sad. In addition to the toppings I ordered there was a bunch of ginger and a marble-sized glob of wasabi hiding in the mix. Glad I avoided being surprised by that. I took the photo after I'd eaten so you can see how much rice was still in the bowl. The waiter was super sweet. He'd do better at another job. I'll stick to Zen Fish. There everything is fresh and vibrant and the choices are more exciting. Plus, their mixed greens are actually 'mixed greens'.

First of all, the AC was not working on the night we visited so things did not get off to a great start. It was warm in the dining area. The lighting was dark (maybe to not add to the heat). We enjoyed our Thai ice teas and seaweed salad appetizer but found our entrees (angel hair special and marine couple) just okay -- nothing special. The scallops in the marine couple were pretty tasteless. The owner came by and chatted with us a little bit, which is always nice. We've had tastier food at other local Asian restaurants so we'll probably pass on coming back soon. We wish them well.
