I never got seen here and won't because I couldn't get past how rude the lady who answered the phone was. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Today, after a short visit (checking eye pressure), I headed to the grocery store with a very specific list of items that I'd been forgetting. But, when I got to the store, I didn't have the list that I was positive I had put in my pocket. My mind went blank and I couldn't remember more than a single item on the list. Low and behold, I received a VM telling me that my list must have fallen from my pocket, as it was on the chair I'd vacated. I quickly called back and asked if the nice receptionist could possibly send a screenshot of my list so I wouldn't have to drive back to get it. She was more than happy to!!! I'm a VERY happy client (patient) due to how personable and capable the entire staff always is, but now I have reason to sing their praises for going "the extra mile"! Thank you!!!

They were true two primary issues with Michael Wang's ophthalmology practice…read more The first one is that the communication with the office was terrible. They do not respond to messages in the MyChart system, despite asking you to use the MyChart system to communicate with them. They do not respond to text messages, despite not answering their phone and having a voicemail that asks you to text them. I have sent over six messages across those two systems and not received a single response. Second, the office in Lafayette looks like a barren movie set. There is absolutely nothing on the walls, and it appears to be some sort of temporary space. The chairs you sit in are rickety and mismatched. The furniture looks like it's something from a thrift sale. So strange. In the end, I had to leave the practice because I was not able to get my prescriptions renewed by virtue of never being able to reach their office. The care quality was quite poor.

I was referred to Dr. Kiprov by my regular doctor because of a sudden eye problem…read more Today was my 2nd appointment with her, and although she may be a good surgeon according to other Yelpers, this appointment confirmed that she is lacking the personal skills to be a good doctor. At both appointments, she was skeptical of my description of my symptoms, intimating that I was not telling the truth about them. After tests showed that I was actually telling the truth (!), she said that I could just live with the symptoms, or she could, she reluctantly supposed, refer me to a specialist. I have had 20/20 vision for all of my life and have been quite upset about the possibility of my current vision problem becoming permanent. I stated this and wish she had responded logically. If a patient is very concerned and scared, it's illogical for a doctor to a) suggest the patient isn't telling the truth or b) suggest that the patient does nothing and just "lives with it." If she reads this, I'm sorry but I'll probably do my best to avoid visiting your practice again. I don't want or need a doctor to be touchy-feely, but I do want to feel like you understand your patients fears and respond appropriately with explanations & suggestions. I shouldn't have to feel like I'm imposing on you to answer questions about what you find. If you're bored explaining the physiology of an eyeball to referred patients, you may want to switch to doing surgery only & stop seeing "regular" patients. The 2 staffers were excellent, friendly, and helpful. I have insurance and pay my co-pays immediately, so those are not the issue.

She was impersonal and impatient from the first second I met her. She did not even bother to introduce herself when she walked in, barely glanced at my record, and started looking at me. I have had optometrists and ophthalmologists dig around in my eye to remove objects before. It's unpleasant, but they were nice and established trust, and were always able to help me get calm enough so that I can keep from blinking or moving and let them work. Dr. Kiprov, on the other hand, worried me with how much she was rushing. I had trouble trusting her to poke around on my eye. She did not seem to comprehend that being impatient with me was making it much worse. She accidentally poked my eye when trying to remove an object, because she was in too much of a hurry. I hope she didn't do any real damage! She continued to be rude, turning her back and walking out of the examining room as soon as she felt she was done, not caring if I might have a question. I will never go back to her office again. Her staff was nice, and I got the impression that she might be fairly knowledgeable, but she was unbearable.

I've now been wearing both pairs of glasses for over two weeks, and it's clear that they have fixed the eye strain that I was having. I see that some reviewers have complained about long waits to see the doctor, and in fact I didn't see the email and text messages that they sent me nearly an hour before my appointment saying that the doctor was running behind, suggesting that I come a half hour later. But I would prefer that the doctor spend however much time turns out to be needed for each client, rather than rush people out the door to stay on time. And it was not a problem because the technicians in the front area worked with me in the meantime on lens and frame choices. The technician Chris was especially helpful at answering my many questions. It took 13 days after the exam and my purchase for both sets of new frames and lenses to arrive, but they were certainly worth the wait.

After my daughter was done, they decided to take another customer ahead of my son who had an appointment and was waiting the entire time. We waited an additional 20 minutes and left. One year later, we made the mistake of giving this place a second chance and made a new appointment. This time they reached out to us at the last minute to say the doctor is running late. Unfortunately, we already arrived when we received the message. Parking and traffic in Berkeley suck. It was a huge waste of our time.
