It's a "pay by weight," self-serve, frozen yogurt shop. But if you look carefully, some of the flavors are sorbet. The shop features five machines, and a wide selection of toppings. The interior is spacious, with small tables both inside and outside on a shared patio area. Price per ounce, Mar 2025: 76 cts/oz Service was very friendly and polite. The young lady answered all my questions with a smile. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have Mango or Pineapple flavors. I was offered a free sample of the chocolate. I went with: Strawberry, Vanilla Bean, and Orange Sorbet. Caramel syrup added. Very good frozen yogurt and sorbet. Very smooth, clean flavors. Not chalky or grainy. Not sugary. We were doing some shopping for items we didn't really need at TJ Maxx. So, of course, we had to stop for much needed froyo. Tangelo has a couple really unique and memorable items for a froyo shop: 1. OMG, the sample cups. They are mini sugar cones. I've never seen this before. They don't have those same old little paper sample cups. Instead, you get a mini froyo. 2. The cookie dough and brownies. The cookie dough is scoopable. Need I say more? The brownie is super fudgy. STANDOUT items. Flavors - They had three or four fruity flavors and the others were sweet flavors. I got cake batter and cookies and cream. The texture was good. One or two flavors were a little less creamy and thick. Toppings - Good selection. As I said above, you can't miss the cookie dough or brownies. Otherwise, standard fare. Lots of seating. And with all the teens hanging out, it brought back memories of going to froyo when I was younger. LOL. read more

Tasted as expected but I hope that they start letting us do self-serve again since all the mandates are lifting. The topping to froyo ratio was not what I would have chosen. I read earlier reviews about them being a little bit stingy on toppings, so chose my toppings wisely. Got house tart with mochi and fruity pebbles. Brought it home and cut up my own strawberries so as to get the best bang for my buck. Overall, not worth the price - $5.50 for a small cup with like 8 mochis and a teaspoon of fruity pebbles on it. Also, the kid working there did not seem to enjoy working there in the slightest. Considering there's not much foot traffic, he should be happy he's getting paid to chill in the back doing nothing (or hw, or knitting, or god knows what) for most of the time. It's the best Froyo I've had in the East Bay since Blush in Pleasanton closed. I think they are independent and this is their only location. Friendly staff. Yogurt is a fair price and perfect texture. I only get original tart flavor wherever I go and it tastes great here. Many of friends, mostly from Saint Mary's, like this place too. It's nearby. It's next to the small movie theater, Nation's, Subway, Mountain Mike's, Starbucks, and TJMaxx (in the same complex I mean). It's definitely superior to Yogurtland. It's easy to find sweets in downtown WC, with no less than a dozen places for ice cream/gelato/yogurt, but your options get more limited when you venture out toward the LaMorinda area. Sure Loards will always be there but if you want to give a new place a try, there's a nice little place a couple doors down from Rheem theater. 45 cents an ounce is a bit more than other places but it's good yogurt flavor-wise, and it won't melt in five minutes. Wild strawberry, cable car chocolate and Tangelo tart were the ones I tried, the signature tangelo was just a little tart which was fine. More toppings than other places, just turn the crank and out they fall. There's just as much seating outside as inside, good to know when summer gets close. But once you try it you might find yourself going back before then. read more

Gotta love Tangelo. I was so happy when they put it here when I was in high school, especially as it's walking distance from there and my old dance studio. Perfect place to stop by for an afternoon or after dinner treat, especially on a warm day. It's bright and cheery inside, and the staff is always friendly. I had several friends who worked there in high school, so it definitely seems like a great place for a kid's first job! They've got a nice assortment of flavors and toppings, with a good amount of fresh fruit options which is always nice when you're trying to be a little healthier. 5.26.14 - Knocking off a star because of the fruit flavors I tried this past Monday: Watermelon - As this bright, highlighter pink substance started to fill my cup, I wondered to myself, "Did they fill their machine with Jolly Ranchers?" The phrase "highly artificial" came to mind as I tasted it, and I really couldn't stand to finish this yogurt off. I'm not a "health freak" by any means, but I guess I was expecting something a bit more refreshing and light like, you know, real watermelon. I will not be returning to Tangelo. Aside from the fact the frozen yogurt is mediocre and overpriced for the arbitrary portion the counter-server gives you the REAL reason I will not return is as follows: I purchased a small chocolate yogurt ($5) for my daughter. The girl behind the counter asked me if I wanted any toppings. I said, "no thank you." As she was bringing me the yogurt I said "You know, I have an 8 and a 6 year old waiting in the car. Can you spare a maraschino cherry for each?" She said, "sure" and gave me the (2) cherries. Then she rang me up for $6. I asked "six dollars?" She said "I charged you for toppings sorry." She charged me a dollar topping fee for (2) maraschino cherries. I should have returned the yogurt but kept it for my daughter. I asked the server if "she could spare 2 cherries" to be nice to my kids and she charged me a dollar without letting me know she would have to charge me for the "kind" concession. It's the principle of the matter, TERRIBLE customer service. I'll pass from now on and they can hold on to their $0.50 "bar cherries." I'll go LITERALLY anywhere else to get a gratis penny-cherry for my young children instead of being charged an unexpected full-topping charge. Never cared for their yogurt regardless. Last summer, I kept praying to the Froyo gods for a froyo place to open in the Rheem plaza. They finally listened to my pleas, and there came Tangelo. I just tried it today and my froyo desires were fulfilled up to standards. The yogurt was very smooth and creamy. It's texture is comparable, or maybe even better than cheaper ice cream. I had my usual original tart and gave the Cake Batter flavor a try. Oh, you have to have the cake batter!!! Their fruit toppings all look fresh, and there was a wide selection. There were strawberries, kiwi, mango, blueberries, nectarine etc. The dry toppings were kept in sealed jars with a knob you turn to release the contents. I thought that was a smart and hygienic way of storage. Last but not the least, the mochi were fresh, soft and chewy! I love my mochi! Hopefully, they can keep this good quality up beyond their first opening. read more
