1. The waitress was not very friendly and was not very attentive. The Bar food sandwiches my party had were ok. The Fajita's I ordered were tasteless. The vegetables were covered in cooking oil and had no seasoning at all, as well as the chicken. The tortilla's were very thin grocery store type. The oil from the vegetables soaked right through before I could get a bite. No cheese, and one very small take out size dipping container of salsa and sour cream. Had to ask for more. Skip it! The food was not good. It was not good AND the owners see fit to charge a premium as if it were much better food. $12 for a 1/2 order of nachos (boring supermarket tortilla chips) topped with flavorless artificial cheese sauce, poorly seasoned and pre-cooked and then frozen chicken (I can tell from the weird texture), and then sprinkled with ice berg lettuce, sour cream, salsa, small tomato halves, and inconsistently chopped jalapeños. $18 for 9 pieces of shrimp on their shrimp sampler trio. The single star I am forced to give this review is for the fact that those shrimp were cooked PERFECTLY. But they were gross. Each set of 3 were coated in disgusting sauces which sounded good, but were poorly executed. $6 (I think) for a loaded baked potato that was, at best, 1/3 of the way loaded, and not cooked quite as well as I prefer. It was a little hard yet. Bottom line, I left more than 1/2 of everything behind, though I did eat most of the shrimp after wiping off the sauce and peeling off the tainted batter. My Mug root beer was exactly what I expected, so...there's a little something for that single star rating too. The atmosphere is drab, outdated, typical drunks talking too loud at the bar about nothing. My server answered my questions honestly enough, which probably saved me from an even worse experience as her responses deterred me from ordering several items that I know can be hit or miss almost anywhere. The bill came to just shy of $40, and I tipped as generously as I normally would because my server was fine and it wasn't her fault the food sucked. My wife and I were researching Owosso as a retirement destination. we stayed at the Comstock hotel and thought we would try the restaurant. IT WAS HORRIBLE!! We had stopped by earlier and asked the waitress if the fish and chips were good. She said, "Oh yes, everyone loves them" We went for dinner. I ordered Fish and Chips my wife ordered a side salad and a side of Salmon. The fish and chips was frozen and overcooked so it was a bit chewy and dried out. Poor excuse for fish and chips. The salmon my wife received was way over cooked and the salas was nothing more than a handful of bagged lettuce with some carrot shavings. The dressing they brought was so acidic couldn't eat it, asked for honey mustard and it tasted like curry. We took a couple of bites and decided to leave. We asked for the check paid they bill and left a tip. Went to Wrought Iron Grill which was a million times better. I don't know if folks don't know what good food is or we had the worst night ever?? This place looked fairly empty. A few tables in the bar area and two small tables in the other room. Drinks came quickly. The salads and soup took 30m. The meal came over 45m after ordering. Asked about the food and waitress said ours was up next and apologized, they were just so busy..... no, not really. I now understand why the only thing I was seeing come out of the kitchen were appetizers. They are probably the fastest food to get. The fish dinner was good. Crispy and homemade tarter sauce was good. The Lake Perch was soft and soggy. Husband barely ate one. My child's nachos were ok. The Tanglewood Mac was extremely lack luster. My child thought it tasted very bland- it was. No one except for me ate even 1/2 of their meal. I will not come back. We ate here on June 27th for dinner. It was the best restaurant meal I've had in a very long time. Our meals were hot, fresh and delicious. I had the smothered chicken. Hubby had the cod sandwich. Our server Liz was outstanding. She was very busy, but was still attentive to our needs. We are locals, but seem to always forget about this place as it's inside The Comstock Hotel. Food is good, and the prices were what you would expect. The service however, was terrible. The waitress rarely came back despite the place not being very busy, and she seemed annoyed with us. My wife and I are not difficult customers all you have to do is take our order and check in on drinks, basic stuff, but that seemed to be more of an annoyance for our server. read more

Great dinner! A bit slow waiting on our food. We ordered a 16 oz ribeye with mushrooms/onions and chili glazed salmon. The only thing I have to complain about was the steak. Ordered it med-rare, came rare. Still had delish flavor! Salmon was perfectly cooked. Baked potatoes were great too! Their rolls were fresh and hot as well. This was one of the worst dining experiences I can remember. When we walked in and there was no one else there we should have known to leave. We waited an hour for just part of our order to come out. It took another 15 minutes for the rest of it and when we mentioned it to an employee she told us our ticket had only been put in 30 minutes earlier. Then when all we wanted to do was leave it took at least 10 minutes to get our credit cards back. The food was not worth the wait and barely worth any wait at all. read more

What a special late night treat. We stopped here for the late night specials. The sangria was delicious and priced to drink. They offer 5-6 appetizers at half price from 2-5 and after 8 pm until close. This place was dead at 9 pm on a Wednesday. Not sure why. It was very spacious, clean and we had an excellent waitress. The apps were generously proportioned and were delicious. Two of us shared the potato skins and full plate of nachos. Next time we are going to try the spinach dip and onion rings. We will be back, I am not certain how we have not tried this local spot before. read more

Terrible service. We ordered our meals at 6:45pm they were not delivered to our table until 8:15! The server never asked us if we wanted more drinks this entire time! Didn't offer us anything while we waited. And never apologized for the long wait when our food was finally delivered. I really don't like giving 1 star reviews but wow, I was so disappointed by my whole experience here. We had a party of 7 for lunch on father's day. It was not busy, we made reservations. There were 2 other tables in the place. We waited over an hour for our food, the server brought out 4 of our party's food and the other 3 members of our party didn't get their food for another 10 minutes. I have many years of experience in the restaurant industry and know these are all completely unacceptable as far as industry standards go. We had to ask the server for refills. It was never communicated to us as to why our food was taking so long-- great customer requires communication. Clearly, this establishment lacks adequate management. They'd never last in a big city. We have family in the Owosso area and frequent their quite a bit and we will never be back. read more

I am amazed this place has such high reviews. My boyfriend and I ate here last week. Our original destination was another restaurant in the area that unbeknownst to me, is closed on the day we went in to eat. So, rather than go across town to predictable Applebee's, we took a chance at Tanglewood. What a regrettable choice! The good: craft beers on tap, friendly bartender. The bad: The food and the prices. We ordered an appetizer-the calamari- and it was undercooked. We learned a valuable lesson-if the appetizers are bad, don't order a main dish. For main courses, I had the beef dipper. It was okay, not worth the price. My boyfriend had the highly reccommended "breakfast burger"...which he said was disgusting. The bacon on it was overlooked and resembled beef jerky, while the burger was very undercooked even for medium doneness. Our food also took quite a while to get to us and they were not busy. We have been out to eat so many times and places in the last year we've been together and this is the worst meal we've had hands down. Unless you're looking for a beer, Id avoid the Tanglewood. read more

I came home to visit family in this area for the holidays and we came by Tanglewood for a quick bite to eat and a drink but ended up staying for hours!! One of the nicest restaurants I have been to in that area I was very impressed, there seemed to be quite a few diverse selections for food also...More than just your typical burger and chicken fingers you get at most bars. I really liked the Artichoke Dip and the Flatbread Pizza on the menu. As far as service goes I was impressed from the minute I walked in the door! It was quite busy and my group wanted to start out at a table before going to the bar for drinks and the hostess Katie was so helpful and friendly and quickly got us a table and even bring us water before our server even came over!! Our server was ok, a little bit slow at brining stuff out and only checked on us once after we got our food but I guess it was because they were busy. After dinner though we went up to the bar and met one of my new favorite bartenders Mitch!! Tried one of the drink specials he offered and it was delicious and then he just started making me his own concoctions that were beyond amazing I had to get the recipe myself. He was so great we actually ended up coming back 2 more nights later last week just to see him! Overall...Not many other places to go in little Owosso..but this place is great. My new favorite spot when I come back and visit, hope it sticks around for a while. read more

The salad dressing was pretty good. The side salads were some iceberg, a tomato wedge, a slice of cucumber and some bagged shredded cheese. The grilled chicken breasts I got were so over cooked I had to ask for ranch to be able to choke them down. The service was AWEFUL. Our waitress Laci was so nice and attentive. I had the palomino shrimp pasta, very good. I also had the lobster bisque, very good, big chunks of lobster. My boyfriend had the breakfast burger and he really liked it. The food was just ok. My son got the kids fish and chips that was the best part of our meal. My husband got chicken caesar that looked wilted. I chose the house sirloin with garlic mashed. This place has had such a great turn around. The food is amazing. I cannot speak highly enough. This is definitely one of owossos hidden gems. The beer cheese is soooo good as are the pretzels. I am a huge fan of the BBQ flat bread and the steak house burger. Recommend this to anyone!! read more

Sean and Van are the best! I've visited a few times and I'm so impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere of this restaurant! The thing that really stands out is how caring and accommodting the staff has been. I'm a vegan and this has been the most flexible restaurant that I've been to during my travels. Usually, I'm eating a plain potato but, not here! They've taken the time to make custom and OUTSTANDING meals. This was a decent restaurant that is being incrementally run into the ground by its new owner. Still, there are some perks: Live music on Friday and Saturday evenings and the menu carries the same items, however the food quality is a few clicks lower.
