I got the kickin shrimp and was delicious as an appetizer. Then I got a smash burger with truffle fries. TBH the burger was messy but a good messy in my opinion. Today, I went here with dad for the second time. Had the filet mignon, which should be called the filet MY GOD. Filet in general is kinda infamous for having a milder flavor compared to something like ribeye, but not this one. A perfect medium. Well seasoned with a fantastic crust, and enhanced by a brown steak sauce with a fancy sounding name that I can't be bothered to remember. It's probably in my top three favorite steaks outside of a cruise. Seriously just walk through the doors and see for yourself. read more

We got the pepper jack Mac and cheese, braised short rib, and stuffed salmon for the main dishes. Those all came with a salad, the ranch dressing was great! Great food and excellent service. WE were visiting Flint for a family event, staying at a nearby hotel, beforehand. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch, as we arrived in Flint, after a 4 hour car ride. Social House was just a few minutes away, and did NOT disappoint. We arrived a little before noon on Saturday. Brunch is served until 1PM. We had made a reservation on-line before arriving. We were immediately seated. Nice offerings for brunch. Create your own bagel or English muffin sandwich, pancakes, French toast, varied Benedicts, shrimp & grits, burger and a few other options. We opted for the bagel sandwiches, chicken & waffles, and my granddaughter had pancakes. Our food arrived a short time later, fresh and nice presented. It's always a plus, for me, when a restaurant offers, non-pork meat options. In this case, I had chicken sausage, yum! The create your own bagel option, includes your choice of meat, cheese, egg preparation accompanied by lettuce, onion and garlic mayo, along with a side ofcexpertly prepared potatoes. My daughter and I ordered the same sandwich, and we were equally pleased eith what received, perfectly toasted bagel, fried egg, chicken sausage and cheddar cheese, (she had pepper jack). The potatoes were nicely seasoned and generously portioned. My husband and other daughter had the chicken and waffles 4 palm sized waffles, which I think were liege, crispy, on the outside, a little dense on the inside (in just the right way). The waffles were topped with a large, hand breaded chicken breast filet. They each enjoyed their meal my granddaughter's pancakes, came 3 to an order, she ate 1, and we all nibbled on the remaining pancakes. They were very tasty, not your average pancake for sure. We enjoyed our food, very much, but the best part was the service. The hostess was very welcoming, but our server, Cierra, was EXCELLENT. Our water glasses were never empty, she continually checked on us, and she made sure that we were well taken care of. I highly recommend Social House and will return, when in the area. read more

The lighting in here is dark with a pub feel. When I was there, I noticed a lot of party reservations. I thought the food and service was okay. My biggest complaint would be the six dollar substitute charge for a chips to fancy French fries. For the price of a burger and fries, I wish I tried something else on the menu. This was in a shopping plaza, but they tried to make the restaurant upscale restaurant, and it doesn't work. I paid $17 for a chicken sandwich but it was another 699 for waffle fries with truffle sauce on top. $24 for a chicken sandwich. It's definitely not worth it! The chicken sandwich was not even very good. It tasted like a regular chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce on it. I also got the garlic bread and it was cold. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich and a waffle fries. We got two drinks and our bill was $77. The waiter kept us there for an hour and 20 minutes and never came to our table. Tried it again. Last time. Bartender Donna doesn't even look at you when she talks. Went there on a Wednesday. There were exactly 7 customers including us. She didn't tell us about happy hour until we asked. That should be something she tells all her customers!!! We ordered our drinks and food and never saw her again until we asked to cash out. Terrible service!! We called to speak to the manager and tell him how disappointed we were - and he said "I disagree with you". WOW!!! He didn't even know their specials. Very slow service, 3 burgers .. food brought at different times for each of us so we could not eat main course together, need a beer,, Wait wait wait, I need a condiment, wait wait extra napkin, wait wait, need another beer, you better order ! not like the idea of my food sitting directly, on a cement slab. Don't know if it was sterilized washed or everyone's hands on it. They were fully staffed, staff running around like crazy, but the what the right hand was doing a good part of the time. We went to the opening of SH, the former location of Burger and Tap. There are tasteful updates to the decor, but maybe the location doesn't lend itself to an upscale dining experience. But the location isn't all that detracted from that. We had reservations for four and arrived 10 minutes before the other couple. We placed our drinks at that time, but they were not entered into the system until the other couple arrived and had ordered as well. The drinks were very mixed, but the choice of glassware and the type of ice for the Negroni and presumably any Old Fashioned made it look like you did not receive a full drink. Even when ordering a double in the same glass, it barely moved the needle to half full. We ordered appetizers, a Caprese flatbread (but received the wrong one, so we got to try the filet flatbread at no extra charge) and the pork belly, which was delicious. For main dishes, we ordered the Chicken Rouladen (over-fried) with rice pilaf (tasteless mush), Short Rib (fantastic) with polenta (eh!), Filet Mignon (great dish altogether), and Salmon (slightly overcooked) with forbidden rice (so salty, could not eat). Feedback was graciously accepted by staff, and our birthday girl received a complimentary piece of desert. We may or may not try another time, after staff had a chance to improve. read more

My cosmo was delish & my fiancé had no problem choosing from the draft selection- we both had 2 drinks. Rueben eggrolls were fantastic tasting but EXTRMELY overpriced- genuinely I was shocked to see 2 eggrolls cut in half for $16.. maybe serve 3 to 4 eggrolls if you're charging that much? The side salads were the star of the entrees which was disappointing since we paid $45 for steak & mushroom risotto that was unlike any risotto I've had, hard rice & weird liquid surrounding... The short ribs (sub mash potato for the polenta) was brought out cold? That was $35! Flavors were good but honestly the pricing on this menu is ridiculous. The atmosphere is sooo strange, you're paying almost $50 for some entrees while starring at a jukebox and 1000 tvs in a strangely lit banquet hall side room? Booths are short and you feel like you're eating with the tables next to you. We MIGHT come back but it wouldn't be for dinner, it'd be for the reuben eggrolls if they up the quantity! Dinner came out to $161 including tip... I'll be surprised if this restaurant stays busy because of pricing and lack of ambiance- it's more of an apps & drinks place to watch the game the way it is currently. read more

We went to the soft opening of social house tonight. Definitely well staffed, but still working out the kinks. Food smelled amazing as it was bought to the table. Arancini could have been fried a little bit lighter, but delicious. Steak was ordered medium rare, was more medium, but still very tender and well salted. Mushroom risotto was cooked very well and al dente. The drinks I do have to agree felt 1oz short, but were very well made. Hopefully they take the feedback and adjust some things, but will recommend to give them a try. We will be back for a second try. read more

It's easy to miss this little gem in the Social Security plaza. That would be a loss because the food was great. The inside is set up like an upscale sports bar but don't be fooled. The food is upscale restaurant. I had the Filet Mignon and it was cooked to perfection. The Apple pecan salad was delicious and it came free with all the entrees. For dessert I had the Wildberry Tiramisu and it was the perfect ending. I can't say enough about the plating. Beautiful. read more

Amazing experience at Social House on all levels! I got the lobster grilled cheese, and it was arguably the best I've ever had. The truffle fries came out hot as a perfect accompaniment, and my wife enjoyed the fungi flatbread as well. This place has a real- deal bar program complete with an expansive draft and wine list, all put out by a very friendly & welcoming staff. A gluten free dining delight! We had two amazing dinners-the risotto and the lobster Mac and both were exceptional with enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Food was good. The short rib Arancini balls were delicious but the meat was lacking. The Philly egg rolls were good but a little bland. Very filled though. I'm happy to see an egg roll that is all breading. Drinks were well done. I think I need to go back and try a few more things before I decide if this is a spot I will frequent. Without asking they were served 9 ounce glasses which had quite an upcharge. One person was charged $2 for an ice cube and two of us who paid cash and needed change had our bills rounded up. We all hated the chips because they were so hard and a bit overcooked. We all thought the chicken tenders were decent. It tastes like really good fresh actual chicken but the breaded was overwhelming with extra crispy rice pankos and fritos. Just no. The portion size was ok for the price, but everything is expensive these days. We had 2 large eggs rolls for $17, and 3 large chicken tenders with a fair amount of waffle fries (should've been more fries) for about $13, and a delicious single patty smash burger with overcooked chips for $10.99. Spent about $60+ including tip. Now that I think about it, it wasn't worth it. Half the food was too hard and overcooked for my kids to enjoy (they're both losing and or recently lose baby teeth). I'll start with what I liked: the place was immaculately clean, nice black table cloths and napkins, decorative light on the table, nice water glasses and sparkling new silverware. And we were greeted by the manager/owner as we waited for our order. The waitress was friendly and efficient. Now onto the bad: the TVs all around still gave the feeling of a sports bar not a steakhouse. The location and parking lot is run down. The food was served on a slab of slate not on white plates, that are pictured on their website, which was hard for the server to maneuver. My husband and I ordered a single smashburger each. Neither of us liked the taste, too many pickles, little tiny pieces minced onions and stupid cherry tomatoes that wouldn't stay on the burger. My crinkle fries were cold and crispy like potato chips. The owner has the right idea of running a nice steakhouse in the vicinity where we have few options. Start fresh somewhere else and drop the smashburgers from the menu, imitate Redwood or Lucky's and don't get too fancy, this isn't Birmingham. read more
