I used Yelp while in Flint, Michigan and it delivered again. I came across Cork on Saginaw and it was perfect. The staff was so accommodating. My party started out with 14 and downsized to 10 and they were able to seat us with no problem. The staff called me a day before my reservation so confirm and the day of. The space itself is soooo cute. The lighting is perfect for a cute intimate dinner as well. My food was amazing. No one in my party complained about the food, so that means they get an A+. Not one single complaint about anything. My friends are a tough crowd when it comes to food and taste. My lamb chops were cooked to perfect. I ordered mine medium and they came out like butter. Delicious. Everyone else food looked amazing as well. We even order dessert and everyone was pleased as well. I'm so upset I didn't capture all my food but I did get my lamb. 2 friends and I had a great experience here. Atmosphere is spot on. Not to formal but cool, clean, and with very tight style. Staff were all happy and personable. Every interaction was positive. Drinks were great. Some good tweaks to known classics. Charcuterie board shared app was great. Some very unique items that were all tasty. Dinners were all good. I had the bolognese. Fresh and tasty. Went here for my birthday dinner during Covid! We made reservations and had a great location for a group. We had enough room and were well distanced from the next table over. I was accompanied by a group of 5 Our service was nice. We started with wine which they have a great list. I did the Cabernet Sauvignon I think it was the $13/ glass one don't know the exact name. I ordered the harvest dip for the table which was squash onions and yogurt (spices too) pretty good but I've definitely never had that before. Served with pita. For my main dish I ordered off the featured menu. I had the NY Strip medium with a side of pomme frites and asparagus. Unfortunately the first time the steak was over cooked but the second they brought out was perfect and really appreciated the ease of switching out for my order. Let me start this by saying, this might not make any difference, and if I was to listen to Carrie the bartender at Cork on Saginaw in downtown Flint, my review won't hurt their business, but I will take my chances. It is a sad day in the world when you as a person, human being, and paying customer at an establishment get treated like trash. I would ask for your help to spread this far and wide, buyer beware. I do not say this lightly but please take your money elsewhere! Cork On Saginaw in downtown Flint does not want your business if you don't look like them or you are not part of their family. After spending our hard-earned money on MEDIOCRE brunch, we were insulted by the bartender Carrie, the manager Darcy and the Owner Marge. We were embarrassed and mortified as this happened in the middle of the restaurant on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. They accused us of leaving a tab the last time that we were there, which was over a month ago. It is yet to be determined if that actually happened. But the manner in which this accusation was made and the preceding situation let me know that "our" kind of people are not only not welcomed at Cork on Saginaw in downtown Flint, but that any review of the incident won't affect their business. This is a very reasonably priced little gem in downtown Flint. It's a relatively small space with an elegant ambiance. Eclectic menu. The staff were all very friendly. Service can be slow but the food and drink are well worth it. Bolognese was delicious. Pomme Frites are AMAZING. I could eat those all day. The deep fried olives were divine. The Tuscan Bread Salad makes a hearty and healthy meal. I look forward to going back and trying more items. read more

Dude. If you love pickles. The cubano pickles are something I would dream about before I moved to Flint. They are my go to sad gal food! Fried pickles with ham and cheese? And fuhgettabout the mustard dippins. I dont even care for mustard very often but this is wonderful. Atmosphere great however, music was so loud no one could hear each other or the waitress. Would go back if there was no singer/guitarist. This was such a hidden gem! Visiting from Seattle and we had the absolute best time. Part of that was from the food/drinks, but the main event was TINA. She was prompt, honest, and an absolute hoot! Sounds like she's behind some of the cocktail recipes on the menu and they did not disappoint! Great wine bar with nice atmosphere and innovative food concepts. My wife and I stop in from time to time, usually on a Friday evening. The food has always been nothing less than perfect, although the portions are small and the price is a bit high, but it's creative and more in line with refined tastes. I can't imagine anyone who likes coneys really taking a genuine liking to Cork or vice versa. I'm not a Coney dog kind of guy, and with a background in the culinary arts from way back in the day, I prefer this type of restaurant in town because I think I have a more refined palette, so obviously, I want something worthwhile when I dine out, especially when I'm going to drop good money on a meal. It's not an everyday kind of place. It's perfect as a date night hot spot or splitting a very nice bottle of wine. They have the Enomatic wine machine in the back. To me, it's a great value, especially if you are a wine snob or are just curious about trying a variety of good wines. The value adds up if you are going to use it, but not if you aren't a wine drinker. It has started getting pretty crowded lately and if your party hasn't reserved a table on the weekend, you will have a tough time getting seated if there are more than two of you together. You'll probably have to sit at the bar so long as doing so doesn't faze you. I recommend calling ahead for dinner if it's Friday or Saturday just so you don't get disappointed in being turned away at the door or having to sit at the bar with a stranger between you and your guest. We had to walk out the last time because it was simply too busy and it was only 6 p.m., but that a party of 12 was seated at reserved tables already. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate, perfect for date night dinners or a quiet drink. I wish they were open for often for lunch, but they usually only serve lunch on Fridays at this point. There was a time when they were open on Thursday for lunch, too, but not anymore. Best on the menu are the cheese board, salmon sandwich, baked macaroni and cheese, and Pomme frites, but the menu changes throughout the year. What you had a few months ago could not necessarily remain on the menu during your next visit. It's happened to my wife and I. We were looking forward to one dish and it was gone, only to reappear again on the menu later. I've had the best dry martinis and Manhattan's here. The craft beer selection is decent and and the choice of wines is mind boggling. The service has never been anything other than courteous and polite. If there has been a problem with getting seated or waiting for our order, the manager has always come to the rescue. Quality food and service in an upscale location. read more

Quite a delicious, great vibing restaurant. Do, yourself a favor and put Cork on Saginaw on your must visit list! We call our selves the "Feasting Four", we dine around metro Detroit rating as we go. Through a catered event we learned about Cork and decided to venture north to try it out. And we strongly encourage you to do the same. First impression is a Cork is an old building turned into a modern/eclectic restaurant where you instantly feel welcomed. The service was on point, friendly and attentive - Kat was awesome! The owner was on site to ensure we were well taken care of and talk about her food (something that most owners don't do, we loved it). The food. O, the food! The appetizers, salads, entrees and dessert were all delicious. Not huge portions but plenty enough we walked away full. Cork turned out to be one of our highest graded restaurants thus far based on food, service & vibe. We look forward to another return. read more

Cork on Saginaw is a great restaurant and I have been here now several times for different occasions. As a dinner restaurant, this place is worth 5-stars, no question about it. It's chic, romantic, hip, and the food served is fantastic. The oysters are always fresh and the tasty specials are worth exploring (please do see previous reviews I'd posted about Cork). I recently had the opportunity to attend the Sunday Brunch and would be amiss not to add that to my review. Unfortunately, Cork is losing a star in the process because it is somewhat of a different experience. Every 2nd Sunday of the month, Cork does Brunch. I knew it would be busy and made a reservation for 2. After arriving we were told that our table was not ready and were luckily able to find a spot at the bar for a beverage. It is a bummer we were not given a Sunday brunch menu and were unaware of the specialty brunch cocktails. It took 25 minutes before our table was ready, and while I understand they were busy, larger parties who arrived after us were seated at their tables within minutes. So here are a couple other observations we made during our time which differed from our usual experience at Cork: The usually muted noise level that gives Cork the classy ambiance in the evening was replaced with almost rowdy noise. My wife and I had to yell to converse or lean across the table, and neither of us has hearing problems. Most of the time we did a combination of both. Observing tables next to us, wherever we saw Eggs Benedict, they were served with solid yokes. That's a gastronomical no-no. Also, changing the preparation of eggs on dishes they were served with was not an option, unless the choice was to leave it off. Still, the food we ordered was good and we would enjoy it again under different conditions. Summing up, I stand by my 5-star rating for this restaurant in the evening. For Brunch, I would give it somewhere around 3 stars, which averages out to my new, 4-star review. read more

We had not been to Cork for awhile. The food seemed just okay. The atmosphere was always lively. We needed a night out with friends. You do too!! We went last w/e and were pleasantly surprised. The double fried French fries yummo. The Mediterranean platter very good variety of things. We had scallop special for dinner and cauliflower tacos. Both very good. I've always wanted to try this place. I finally did and I have mixed feelings. The atmosphere is very lively with well to do people. The decor and overall mood is lacking. My girlfriend and I sat at the busy bar. I was surprised we even found seats. The server came over after about 10 min which is understandable, I'm not mad at that, gave us our menus and walked away. We asked if there were any specials. He pointed to the menu and said "right here". Ok. He left and didn't come back for another 15 min. We finally ordered. The food was phenomenal! We had the Baked Carmalized Onion Dip for an appetizer and the Short Ribs and Salmon Special for dinner. The bartender was lacking. We felt totally unwelcome and almost a burden to our bartender/waiter. He seemed a pompous jerk. Maybe he was having a bad night, who knows, but he seemed to have a good conduct with all his regulars. Every other interaction we had with the staff was pleasant, but he was absolutely not and it seemed like it was just to us! Would I go back? Yes because the food is amazing. Would I go back? My husband and girlfriend joined me for dinner at the Cork and it was awful. My girlfriend and I arrived first and was greeted by the owner. We told her 3 people are dining. After she sat us both down, she returned to the table after about 2 minutes and asked are we sure the third person is coming. I said yes. She asks again, "You sure? Because if not I will have to separate your table for two because I have a lot of reservations tonight. I went on to say yes I'm sure. Next the waitress didn't know what is on the menu. And when my girlfriend had an allergic reaction, no one cared. The owner asked instead why didn't you send it right back. Seriously. The waitress couldn't be found. And we are now talking about an allergic reaction. Long story short. Terrible customer service, racist and just an overall horrible place!!!!! read more

Amazing waitress! Amazing unique fresh food. The waitress recommended some donut for dessert! Omg, it was not a donut it was a pastry that was fried and covered in cinnamon. I almost died and went to heaven. I had the salmon and my husband had the steak. Both were fantastic. We had baked feta for an appetizer and it was amazing. I love this place. Great atmosphere, great food, etc. The bruschetta is excellent, as is the mac n' cheese. Oh, and don't forget to order the sweet potato fries. YUM! You honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The cocktail options and wine selection are also great. Cork has a number of really buttery chardonnay options (my favorite) and rich, full-bodied merlots (my husband's preference), plus the bartenders are adept at making cocktails, particularly cosmos, mojitoes and any twist on the basic martini. Don't get me wrong- an evening out at Cork doesn't necessarily translate into a cheap date. It's a little pricey, but worth every penny. It's a great place to unwind after a FSO concert or during the city's monthly Second Friday Art Walk. read more

For an appetizer I would recommend the calamari with aioli sauce to dip in. If you like sweet white wine try their moscato.
