    ... Spinach and Artichoke Dip
    Bekah K.

My boyfriend really likes this place, so I decided to give it another try about a year later. With new management. I went on a Sunday morning to get takeout and was disappointed to find they were out of the lobster bites--the main thing I was looking forward to in the appetizer sampler. There were two bartenders working, with about nine guests seated at the bar. When I sat down to place my to-go order, one bartender was deeply engaged in conversation with a couple and didn't acknowledge me at all. Meanwhile, the other bartender was clearly overwhelmed--pouring drinks, delivering food, and managing everything on her own--while it seemed like she could really have used some help. I placed my order and went outside to wait the quoted 10-15 minutes. The location itself is lovely, right on a lake with beautiful views. There's also a tiki bar, a stage for entertainment, and nice porch seating attached to the main restaurant. The bang bang shrimp is always a 10/10. I ordered my boyfriend a Philly, which he really enjoyed. I had a Caesar salad that was very basic and honestly looked like a premade salad kit from Publix. My biggest issue, though, was the takeout presentation of the spinach artichoke dip--it looked like leftovers. Seriously, Chili's would never! When I got home and reheated it, it did taste good, but the container and presentation really need improvement. I'm not sure if I'll give this place another chance.

    Shrimp & Grits

I visited Tanners Lakeside with friends earlier today and tried the Shrimp & Grits. Savory grits were topped with a creamy and spicy creole sauce, meaty andouille sausage, tender briny shrimp, and crisp bell peppers. A side of soft garlic bread was perfect for dipping into the remaining sauce. Overall, we had a nice experience.

I had the Bang-Bang Shrimp Burger (I think that is what it was called) They did a great Job cooking it to order! The fries/potato wedges were less than impressive (next time maybe go for the slaw).

Had the appetizer sampler and it was absolutely delicious! The gator bites, grouper and firecracker shrimp were perfect! Paired with a red sangria and just like the view and ambiance I couldn't ask for more! Jamie was wonderful and can't wait to come back!

I randomly found this restaurant and I am so happy that I did. The family was ecstatic and said I made a wonderful choice. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Staff is friendly and honestly I would love to come back! I do love that it is also dog friendly.

Go for the food and the awesome view! Don't expect your service to be very attentive at all...just be patient. And keep looking at that beautiful view! I ordered the sampler for the table because we had a larger group and wanted to wait for everyone to get there before we ordered all of our meals. We chose the grouper, gator and lobster...and OMG what a surprise. The gator seriously one of the best done gator bites I've ever had, if not THEEEEE best! And was beyond ecstatic about the lobster - it was FABULOUS! Then I ordered the grouper, and although it was good, it wasn't as exciting as the lobster and gator. Still, I'd order ALL of those things again.... And the fries were really cool, big spiral-like. And they were very good too! Again, the service is not what you're here for...but we found that they'll work with you if you need to adjust seating on the deck to accommodate all your folks and you will get served...you may just need to jump in and request and help to make things happen.

Large restaurant, with a full bar and outside seating right over the water. Our server was not great at checking on us (for drink refills or bringing the check) and they weren't very busy. I ordered the grilled shrimp platter. The shrimp were good but the skewer was so thick you couldn't slide the shrimp off without severing it. The fries were unique and good. The slaw was average. The hush puppies were a huge disappointment. There were 2 - they were small and tasted like stove top stuffing. I think the atmosphere is the best part of this place.

Found this place by mistake, we were looking for live music and a Sunday funday feel. We ordered drinks and food at the bar. Had the shrimp, mussels, and fries, all pretty delish for a tiki bar. Service was great the live music was also on point, the band played 80's rock. I would say that it's also great for family. They have jet skis and a sunset sail for under $40. I'll certainly be back.

Watermelon Mascot - it was delicious. Never got a chance to try to food it never came.

We walked in at 1:30 there was a sign that said seat yourself. We sat at a dirty table & the sever didn't come to our table until 1:47 to clean the table & acknowledge us. There were plenty of seat at the bar top, & one outside seating but it was too hot . We wanted to seat at a table where we had a view of the lake & watch the boats go by. Well here we are 2:39 we haven't gotten our food just our drinks that we've been nursing. There were about 2 other families that sat after us and got their food & finished. At this point we were ready to leave, we couldn't even find our server. I finished my watermelon mascot went up to the bar & ask to pay for our drinks. The bartender was nice about it. We never got try our order. I guess they were fishing for my crab. I order crab cakes & hubby ordered a sandwich. I've always wanted to try this place. The location is nestled in a residential area but the universal had other plans.

That's when we came across Sauvage, a Polynesian craft bar & kitchen located in the heart of Winter Haven. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was right--vibrant, tropical, trendy, and fun. And then we spotted two retro arcade games--Mortal Kombat II and Street Fighter Turbo--that guests can play while waiting for their food. Talk about nostalgia! That definitely took us back to our childhoods. Okay, okay... I'm showing our age. Let's get back to the food! The Brunch Sauvage's menu combines Polynesian-inspired cuisine with American favorites and creative twists, which immediately caught our attention. We decided to share two entrées: Duck Confit Benedict Duck confit served over crispy hash browns, topped with poached eggs, hollandaise, and chives. Brunch Scallion Pancake A savory scallion pancake topped with scrambled eggs, cheese, millionaire bacon, island sauce, and sweet Thai chili, served with a side of grits. Both dishes were different, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I especially loved that each entrée came served in its own personalized cast-iron skillet. It made the presentation feel rustic and unique while keeping everything warm. And the portions were perfectly sized for brunch--satisfying without being overwhelmingly heavy. And Then There Was the Cocktail... We couldn't visit a Polynesian craft bar without trying one of their creative cocktails! We went with the Mango Sticky Rice Milk Punch -- made with coconut-washed brandy, mango soju, five-spice, and vanilla. This cocktail was cool, light, fruity, and refreshing, with just enough of that tropical flavor to make it feel like the perfect summer brunch drink. Honestly, I really enjoyed it! Sauvage was such a fun find for our Sunday brunch. Between the tropical atmosphere, creative Polynesian-American menu, unique cocktails, nostalgic arcade games, and beautifully presented food, it was definitely more than just your typical brunch spot. Everything we ordered was flavorful, well-portioned, and thoughtfully presented. And the fact that we discovered it while celebrating a 50th birthday weekend made the experience even better. Would I come back? Absolutely! Next time we're in Winter Haven, we're skipping brunch and coming back for dinner. I'm definitely curious to see what Sauvage is doing with their dinner menu. Sauvage gets a "we'll definitely be back" from us!

To top it off, we had the Fuzzy Old Fashioned! It was a top ten day and we hardily recommend this place!!! UPDATE: While the experience last time was fantastic, upon leaving and discussing our bill we realized it was higher than expected. We returned today and due to our last financial experience, totaled up our bill before we got it. It was around 80 per our calculations. When we finally got our bill, our waitress verbally told us what it was. And to our not surprise, it was once again, higher than it should have been. My daughter, who had heard about our previous experience asked for an itemized receipt which was given to us rather reluctantly. We reviewed it and the burger and drinks were more expensive than what it said on the menu! Our old fashioned which we ordered in the specials menu was $9 instead of the posted $8 and her burger was $16 instead of the $10 posted. She brought it to the attention of our waitress and she admitted that the drink prices were increased but not updated on the menu.. when asked about the burger she claimed it's because we got fries instead of chips but SHE was the one who asked us if we wanted fries, chips, or potato salad. She tried claiming the $6 was fries... and even if that was the case, $6 for fries??? Without a note on the menu? So my recommendation is CHECK YOUR BILL and ask for an itemized receipt. I find it weird that they automatically don't also offer itemized receipts.... So hopefully when we return, it will be updated to avoid future issues...
