Nice location. After patiently waiting 2 hours after placing ordered couldn't wait any longer.

Have been here a few times and it was fine. Once had the shrimp and grits and was really pleased. This last time we had the prime rib special. Everything was cold. The "sautéed veg" is basically frozen and microwaved. Yum. Salad is iceberg and disappointing. Asked for no cheese. Came with cheese even tho it's not supposed to lol. We ordered a basket of hushpuppies. They might have been ok but not sure since they were ice cold. We waited so long that we were just starving and didn't want to send anything back honestly. Idk if sitting at the bar was a make or break decision. We saw a lot of food coming out of the kitchen. Just not ours. Our food was brought out by someone we never even saw before. It's almost like our bartender forgot we ordered food. She wasn't great with the drinks either. Then another salad came out. They asked if we wanted it anyway. We declined. Never even ate the first one. Not sure if the mashed potatoes were good. Too cold to give them more than a cursory sampling. I was excited for prime rib as I love it and never seem to make it on the right night. I will pass in the future. read more

We have been trying to support local businesses during these hard times. We have lived in the area for 6 years and had never been to Tanners but decided to try it one Friday afternoon. It was very quiet at this time and seems to be a nice place to eat on the water. The food was amazing with plenty of leftovers to take home. The staff was very friendly and took care of us very well. The manager heard it was our first time there and came over and talked with us. We have friends who come down every winter and we will definitely be taking them there for a meal. read more

Service is suck! We ordered $28 crab legs and shrimps and some veggies combo, but their crab legs hardly had any meat and over cooked. Plus our salad was delivered at 8:00pm and didn't get started until the waitress came back at 8:38 so we waited in the dark outside the deck for the silver ware for 8mins. My friend then Said it was a white bar that's why we were not given a great service. So, this bar is crossed out on my list and won't even recommend to other race friends of mine. We did a paddle board launch there before lunch for 2 hours. Then went in for lunch. Staff super friendly. Brought us a huge jug of water since we were all dehydrated from paddling. I want so badly to like Tanners. I really do. It SHOULD be the best place on the chain. Unfortunately it is not. Food is sometimes good sometimes bad. But the service is ALWAYS horrible! Always! It's not the wait staff usually. It's the management. They are always understaffed. We wait and beg to get a drink. Today food took over two hours today. No joke. When we asked to speak with a manager she would not come out and speak with us (asked twice). Two people at our table NEVER even got their food. Eventually they just had to cancel the order and go somewhere else. Then the waitress tried to bring their bar tab for two drinks. Are you kidding me?! Waited two hours and then say "we aren't going to charge you for your meal". What? The meal that never came? But here is your bar tab for the two drinks?! So sad. Management, please listen to your customers and fix it. Until then, we won't come back. (This is the third experience just like this at Tanners). read more

The atmosphere is great, the service excellent. The food is just so so. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip which was excellent, the salad if you didn't take the house dressing another type was .75. Over the summer i was back in Winter Haven for a day visiting my family and I stopped at Tanners to meet a friend for lunch. We ate at the bar and the bartender was extremely helpful with helping us make a decision on what to order for lunch. the atmosphere was very chill and relax. They did have live music that day (for some type of festival) and it was really loud inside which made our lunch a lot shorter than it would have been because we couldn't hear one another talk. If it was less noisy we would have stayed longer however it was just too much to deal with. In regards to food I had the Mahi sandwich and it was pretty good. My friend had one of the flatbreads and it looked absolutely divine. read more

So disappointed. We have been there several times. Service has always been slow, but we dealt with it knowing it is somewhat new and we liked the food and atmosphere. BUT...This past visit was a very unpleasant experience all the way around. We sat at the bar while waiting for our table. We, and others sat there while the owners and bartender totally ignored all of us. No one would make eye contact. No one said, we will be with you in a minute. Very frustrating, especially when we saw people being served that sat down after us. (I think they were friends of owner). We often have people with us from out of the country. We often refer them to Tanners for a great local spot, but I cannot and will not do that again. Once we sat at our table, the waitress was pleasant. Dinner, another very big disappointment. I ordered the Wilted Spinach Salad. I didn't know Romaine lettuce is the new Spinach!! It was full of Romaine hidden throughout the salad. Really?? They charged me half price for it! The music started a little before 8pm. Great music but way, way too loud for dinner. We could not hold a conversation with our guest. Thought we would try this place tonight. 8/9/17. Started out bad and got worse. Got there about 7pm and sat at the bar. The bartender asked what we wanted to drink right off, just a couple drafts, but then he waited on like 8 other people b 4 we got our beers!! About 15 min later asked if we wanted to order a appetizer, we said no we were ready to order dinner. So he went and started doing dishes???? While he was putting clean glasses in front of us we asked again if we could order!! Got the order in and it came out quickly. But the lobster bites were soggy. Menu says crispy. Took a long time to get a second beer and they never did ask my girlfriend if she wanted another. They did comp 1/2 off the lobster platter that's why I went 2 stars. First time for dinner with another couple. First impressions the hostess was not friendly when I told her we had reservations for a window table she informed us that they only take reservations for a window table for parties of 6 or moe. After being seated we noticed four tables for four along the window but were told those were for the owners friends! We ordered oysters for an appetizer which took forever. Our cocktails were good at happy hour and our entrees were tasty but there must be a problem in the kitchen as far as waiting to have our food served and also the management although plenty of waitresses and servers a long long wait just for coffee and longer yet to pay the bill. When we first walked in, there was confusion among the staff about seating yourself and waiting to be seated. Once we got a table cleared on the deck, the rest of the experience was fine. Staff was nice, and the food was good. The other party on the deck was acting pretty drunk, but at least they were happy drunks. Just something to keep in mind if you don't want to be around that. A nice cozy spot that's right by Lake Howard very beautiful. Family oriented, also a great spot for couples. Great atmosphere on the inside, love the lighting and view of the lake. First time here tonight. Gave our name since we showed up with no reservation and said we'd be at the bar when a table became open. Bartender Daryl was very friendly while we waited to be notified of a table. When we realized that customers at the bar who came in after us were being seated, we asked Daryl if we could eat at one of the high tops. The entree I had, grouper with mango salsa, was delicious. Hubby liked his ribeye. Salad was also tasty. Dessert not so great. Chocolate Lava Cake was disappointing.....basically a barely warmed, dry cupcake (no warm fudge filling) with a side of vanilla ice cream. Very mediocre service and food. My girlfriend didnt her chicken for her salad until we were almost finished eating. My grouper sandwich came on a po boy bun and the grouper filet didnt cover the entire bun. They comped the chicken but my bill was 41 and i tipped 3 which would have been 44. But looking further into my transaction i was billed a total of $51. So not sure what thats all about. Definitely wont be back. read more

As usual, Tanner's came through. Upper end food, but not fussy. Very casual. Directly on the water. Good friendly helpful service. In the summer it is slow during the week. But weekends very full. Band on Sundays. Food ranges from fried pickles, gator tail, to elegant steak and my favorite mango grouper. This is not a heavy breaded fried fish house. Refined dishes. Three of us went for dinner at Tanner's Lakeside today and we got a window seat so we could watch the boat traffic. Our server was Laura J. and she was very good about helping us decide what to order & letting us know what was made from scratch in the kitchen. Between the three of us we had the chips & salsa (homemade) , lobster bisque, clams, blackened mahi flatbread & the veggie flatbread. We were all please with the foods and the flavors. 1st visit. We were hesitant about going, do to the mixed reviews. We've heard personally about 50/50 of good/ bad reviews. Let's talk about the atmosphere; drab, needs updating, floors look like their going to fall in. The server was attentive yet scattered. He tried. The food was ok. Nothing to brag about. I ordered the firecracker shrimp (bang bang wannabe) I ate 2 and that was it. They were cool, not even warm and seemed undercooked due the texture and temperature. Kids Mac-n-cheese was decent and our other party had a Philly cheesesteak and said it was good. So all in all, it's a place to eat on the water while enjoying the chain of lakes but nothing to go out of your way for. 2 stars. read more

My wife and I had never been to Tanners Lakeside and thought we could enjoy it for Valentines Day which also fell on a Friday night. (2/14/20) We had 6pm reservations and opted to sit outside on the deck. Our order was taken soon after seating, neither rolls or salads are offered with the entrees and that was when the waiting game began. 40 minutes later our appetizers arrived, my wife got the lobster bisque which was salty but at least warm. My crab cakes were served at barely room temperature but I ate them as they were because it was Valentine's Day and I didn't want to make a big deal. By 7pm the restaurant was nearly empty as the snow birds had dinner early and we are still waiting for our entrees. At 7:30 our entrees arrived. My wife's red snapper was nothing great but was warm, the garlic mashed were cold. My sirloin and mashed were once again cold. I will pause here to mention that the wait staff during the one and a half hour wait never checked on us but we had to make the effort to track her down and ask for a status on the meals. They took my sirloin away and said they would make it over and the wait continues only to have it come out 20 minutes later cold again. We then asked for take away containers so as to not continue to sit at a restaurant that was unable to manage a Friday evening Valentine's Day dinner that wasn't even busy. Now mistakes can happen and most quality restaurants would have the manager come out and speak with you our comp a meal or dessert. Neither of these happened. I ended up paying $72 for a meal we couldn't enjoy and souring our Valentine's Day evening. I say the management was poor because tables next to us experienced the same thing with one lady being told as their table was being served that they were out of salmon. How does a restaurant run out of salmon at 7:30 on a Friday night when the restaurant is not busy? And how is a customer told an hour after placing an order that they are out of salmon? Simply put poor food quality, poor service driven by what has to be poor management. read more

The Happy Hour is a good deal but wished it went to 7pm ( 4:30 - 6pm is short) The food is very good but not happy with the fried lobster entree, small pieces of lobster that looks like fried corn nuggets and the amount in the platter was embarrassing. Great views, will give this place another chance because of the Happy Hour. read more

Great food and a nice view. They were struggling to get the place fully operational after the hurricane when I went so they had a more limited menu and there was some work being done on the building. Stopped by Tanners recently after looking for another Lakefront dining experience but this place really missed the mark! We walked in and there was confusion if there was a hostess or not as someone told us we needed to wait. We waited for about 10 minutes as employees just kept walking by us. The place was kinda empty so we said we were just going to seat ourselves. As soon as we sat down a lady came over and said we could not sit there. We asked why and she said that this section was closed. So we got up and moved. No one was apologetic about us waiting over 10 minutes but as soon as we sit someone tells us to move?? And to top it off the food was bland and some dishes were not even hot. My grilled chicken sandwich was not even cooked fully as the Chicken had a dark pink middle!! I was so grossed out that I did not want a new dish. We paid out bill and left never to come back again. Surprised how a place like this is still in business!!?!? read more

Have been here quite a few times. Food was great but heard it changed so we wanted to check it out. It was not good. We had salmon that was undercooked but they brought a new filet and it was good. The chicken was dry and had no taste. Supposed to come with roasted potatoes but i got 2 pieces. Not 2 potatoes but 2 pieces with a TON of bacon and onions that didnt taste good. So disappointed. Hope they can get some good chefs or they won't make it. read more
