Crazy times so definitely took that into consideration, not very crowded with buyers or sellers. Local told us to go early because of Crowds (I think they was thinking Pre-Covid) it was Sat and we got there around 1100am. Started to pick up a little when we left around 130. I can see potential as the space is huge, got my steps in just walking around. There was a Kid area with some rides, lot of food places, and even has a stoned in Koi Pond. Restrooms were plentiful and pretty clean. Spoke to a few vendors, everyone was pretty friendly & polite. Made a couple of purchases, some from the booths, and from tables. Picked up some cool items, what you would expect from a Swap Meet. We will have to try at night and maybe after Covid settles down. Plenty of Parking, and signage insisting on Masks being worn. Finally made it out to the Tanque Verde Swap Meet and it was pretty slim pickings this time of year. There's a small food truck area and a cute little coffee setup, but not much for vegan options and overall it just didn't quite hit for me. That said, I'll always appreciate spaces like this that give local entrepreneurs and creatives a place to show up and share their work. Tucson has no shortage of hidden gems, and I can see how you might score a great find here on the right day. Just wasn't my vibe this round. read more

What happened to the swap meet? I used to love coming here. It would always be full of people and excitement. It was a complete Ghost Town. Not even a third of the businesses were open and even less people selling items so sad. I've heard some things that people are afraid to come out here due to political things that are happening in our society bring back the swap meet. Went on Friday evening and there were hardly any vendors for items or food. The vendors that were there sold similar things. Including the food vendors. Admission is two dollars a person which is great, but not when there isn't much to explore. read more

It's time this landmark gets an updated review! We ventured on a late Saturday afternoon in July (yikes)! Entry fee is $2/person (not per vehicle). Parking was easy at 5pm with only about 8-10 cars in the east lot off of the Palo Verde entrance, maybe too easy (perhaps there shouldn't be a fee to go in the summertime). Inside, there were approximately 40 vendors, with a half-dozen consisting of the dollar-store touristy knick-knacks. 15-20 were open tables with garage-sale style items laid out. Another half-dozen consisted of folks hocking jewelry. And the rest had dedicated stalls, some filled with t-shirts, others with housewares, one with old cameras, electronics, kitchen, and garden items, and another with all sorts of (large) pans/woks. We finished browsing in about 45 minutes and headed to the south side of the Swap Meet. In the south side parking lot is where most of the food trucks are located. It looked like 6-7 were open or about to open and another 3-4 were shuttered at this time (now 6:00pm). There were maybe 4-5 other patrons looking for food but almost all of the picnic-style tables were empty. We settled on the Birria Munchies Truck (separate review). We might return during the fall/winter when vendors will likely increase but the advertised/website quantity of "800" vendors? Hmm, we barely saw 1/20 that number today. read more

I was selling at the TVSM Saturday night and got charged for an extra space for small 4 foot table, a tub of children's clothing, and another tub of kids gift bags. I was packing up (9pm) because no one was buying and they still charged me for the space $28, she gave me a discount of $8, as if that made it right. Then she said she could charge me another space for parking my vehicle in back of the spot I was selling. She said you need to unload your vehicle.Go park it in the parking lot.And then when you're done you bring your vehicle back to load. Honestly that's how they treat the seller's who are responsible for bringing customers into there business. WITHOUT SELLERS THERE IS NO TANQUE VERDE SWAP MEET! It cost $36 for Saturday 11am - 11pm But buyers don't show up until after 5. Spend most of their money on food and drinks. So they are just looking and not buying and by 8-9 no more sales. So as a seller who "sold" not going back... you only have a couple of hours of sales compared to all the work preparing your items to sell, loading up into your vehicle, driving there, unloading your vehicle, loading your vehicle, driving home, unloading your vehicle and putting away your sale item. What a disappointment. We trekked south to see what we thought was a huge swap meet and we arrive to an empty parking lot. That was the first sign. The land mass and the number of stalls is amazingly huge. Problem, 90% were closed or out of business. There were a few vendors hanging out with some nice wares, but overall it was empty. It was nice before greed took over and they started charging people to visit. Started at $1 and now it is $2. They are probably jacking up prices for vendors too so there are fewer of them. I don't know why anyone would go there to eat at an overpriced food truck when you can dine at home for much less. This would be my first time as a seller. 2 hour trip loaded to the top just to arrive at 4:30 pm just to see an empty parking lot and not a single shopper in sight. There was a couple vendors open but definitely not worth unloading my van and truck. I stayed there for a couple hours mostly in disbelief and the thought of the 2 hour drive back I was faced with. What a waste of time, gas, and energy. There is no reason for this place to call themselves open on a Sunday cuz it shouldn't be. Ok so this place was cool and interesting. I can totally see why people like it but you have to be seriously dedicated to find some gold here. I never knew these sorts of places were even a thing until my friend and I were watching "Slobby's World" on Netflix and realized the eccentric star of the show was actually an owner of a flashy vintage store called "Generation Cool" on 4th Ave here in Tucson, and that HE GETS HIS STUFF AT THIS SWAP MEET... so obviously had to check it out. Think of it like a garage sale the size of Disneyland. (ok maybe not THAT big, but this place is HUGE!!). The parking lot alone was like something you'd see for a theme park. Speaking of... they do have rides that you can buy tickets for, which we did. We were the only ones riding them and they are by no means impressive, but hey! Anyways, imagine taking all the garage sales in Tucson and plopping them down all in the same location. That's what this is. Separate booths filled with anything and everything you might possibly find at a garage sale. There are also specialized booths for trinkets/tech accessories/MATTRESSES (lol), etc. This swap meet even has a huge permanent billboard sign to alert you where to turn... I don't know why I was so impressed by this. While my friend was sorting through all sorts of vintage jerseys and piles of shoes, I was paying $5 to hangout at the VR station where you get in a special chair, they put high quality headphones on you, and these intense goggles. You choose which adventure you want to go on and boom you're in a different reality. I chose the horror one which was quite entertaining! They also had some high school kids (I think? Or a club) having a dance off with music... watched that for a bit. They had large bathrooms (nothing glamorous by any means, but what you'd expect I suppose) and a little area with tables and food/drink stations all around, like an outdoor mini food court, if you will. My friend got some beers and you can just walk around the place drinking. If you live in Tucson, you should check this out at least once... but go in with the same mindset you go into a large Forever21 or Nordstrom Rack with. Can't say I'll be running back here anytime soon but also can't say I'll never go again. read more

On the Facebook page, website, and on yelp the swap meet advertised it's open on weekends. Sunday supposedly free admission from 2pm-10pm. I have been here before on Fridays and Saturdays, it's fantastic. I have tried now to come on two different Sundays and no one was there. Not a single vendor or person walking around. Bored on a Friday or Saturday night with a couple bucks burning a hole in your pocket. Well, come on down to TVSM where you can buy your kid a noisy, glowing play gun, treat yourself to just about any Mexican candy your heart desires, cover up the stank with a plethora of incense, thrill your girl with a frilly push up bra or studded "designer" purse and make one person's trash your own personal treasure. It ain't pretty but TVSM is a people watching extravaganza and actually a lot of fun. It's not so big that you'll get lost but still large enough that you can spend a good couple of hours walking the aisles and visiting the different vendors. They have a few amusement rides for the kiddos, a nice variety of food in the center food court and beer! Because who doesn't like beer while shopping, right? Well on Friday night they were out of some of the better beers like Landshark, Shock Top and Corona. The only offerings were Bud, Bud Light and Miller Light. And actually at 7PM, they were out of those for a short period while they tapped a few more kegs. Thankfully the situation was remedied. The swap meet, it's a place to bring family and friends to hangout, walk, talk, and shop. For the my Mid-Western snowbirds, this is what they call a flea market back home. The best part of this swap meet is that you can make it an evening event. My childhood has always been filled with doing things at night as a family in Arizona because it's hot during the day. Nocturnal activities are common place. Almost anything that you can think of, there is probably a vendor selling it here. There are food vendors here serving the fare you would expect to see at an outdoor outing. I've come here to find some bizarre and unique second hand items. There is live music here for family and friends to watch. This is a very reasonable and cheap option for something to do in Tucson on a Friday night or the weekends.
