    Board games everywhere!
    Jen H.

A cozy store with lots and lots of games! Currently, masks are required, and there is a sign recommending the use of the provided hand sanitizer before picking up/touching the games. There is also a 12-person limit inside the store at one single time. They have a large variety of games for kids and adults alike. The store itself is not the biggest, but all four walls are lined from floor to ceiling with games. There are additional tables with piles of games as well. It's definitely one of the largest collections of board games I've ever encountered at a store. Even with their enormous collection, the games are organized and sorted neatly. But if you're overwhelmed with finding what you're looking for, an employee with gladly assist you with your needs. If you're in need of a new board game, this is the spot to check out!

If your enthusiasm for board games extends Monopoly, this is the place for you. Hundreds of board games and expansions packs in stock. I frequent multiple game shops like these and this one trends on the lower end of game prices too. This is usually my go-to shop for boardgames, because they're fully stocked and more likely than not, I will save a couple bucks on the games I'm after in comparison to their competitors.

Incredibly solid board game store plus a decent selection of miniatures, including Warhammer, AD&D, and Star Wars. No wargames, per se, and no tables for gaming, but the selection is probably the best in the greater Austin area. Owner and workers could be more engaged. Nevertheless, the games speak for themselves.

Excellent place to try new boardgames. Staff is super nice. Sometimes they hist special events like comedy night. Check'em out!

Great selection of games but more importantly, great prices! Finally a store in the area that makes it easy for consumers to support the FLGS. Will definitely be coming here for my board game purchases. Also, Chris and the rest of the staff are super friendly and inviting. Don't hesitate to ask questions and learn more about what they offer. They also have a great selection of demo games (see photos).

Front door delivery! Thanks Gaming Goat!

They've been in business for forty years and it's easy to see why. They've cultivated a welcoming environment for everyone from the "comic book nerd" to the novice. Friendly service-chatting up books and games with patrons. Reading and play area for kids=bonus. Large selection of comics and other things (as mentioned above). Super clean store.

From the outside, it sits quietly in a North Austin shopping center near Hop Doddy's. If you blink, you might miss it. Once you step through the doors, you feel transported to a totally different place like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter story. You find shelves of comics, books, games...everywhere your imagination can take you. Dragon's Lair has been part of the Austin community since 1986. You feel a rush to flip through comics, try on costumes or transport yourself to a fantasy land. New releases co-exist with long loved series. Graphic novels, tabletop games, miniatures, dice, and collectibles are readily available. The prices at Dragon's Liar appear reasonable. According to the store manager, the tables within the store are reserved for Magic tournaments, Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) campaigns, and board games spread across tables. The energy is welcoming fostering collaboration between new and existing players. The shop cats, Diana and Brigid, wander through aisles like they own the place, which makes Dragon Liar feel homey and welcoming. The store stays open late sometimes, acknowledging that games and stories don't always fit neatly into set hours. Dragon's Lair is huge, busy, sometimes overwhelming in a good way. It reflects Austin's creative culture...inclusive, and deeply passionate.

I personally was on the hunt for ATARI 2600 cartridges, and they had plenty at a decent price (between $2-10). I also saw SEGA Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast games + peripherals/accessories which can be difficult to find anywhere but the internet nowadays. You'll also find Nintendo, Sony Playstation, and Xbox games/accessories. Nothing NEW new, because this is specifically a retro game store, so if you want the newest releases, go to GameStop or something LOL. One of the coolest things about this location is that they have a corner of their store dedicated to a "museum" of consoles, and it's quite impressive! A lot of ooold consoles like ATARI's line-up and lesser-known consoles like Intellivision, Magnavox, etc. Even some Japanese imports. Fun for a stroll down memory lane (if you're old enough) or to learn about the history of video gaming (if you're not, haha)! Another corner of the store actually has a set-up for you to test/demo games! There's a TV with many consoles hooked up to it, and a comfy couch to enjoy too. The employees here are friendly, out-going, ready-to-assist, and decently knowledgeable too. The fellow assisting me kindly cleaned off the contacts on my cartridges before checking out. You can also find old video game manuals/guidebooks here. Besides retro stuff, you can also find a few modern things like plushies, lanyards/hats/wallets, etc. Game Over Videogames is a small chain with multiple locations. One cool policy they have is that if a game turns out to be non-functional, you can bring it back within two weeks to be replaced. This is good news for me, because I tested the 12 ATARI cartridges I got when I got home and one was a dud (not bad, considering their age!).

The music was great and he was very informative about what I was looking for. Nicely hooked me up with their monthly program so I can get all the comics I needed, and they were on point for about six months. Then comes my birthday, very excited to bring my son in and grab my monthly comics. I called the shop on the day of my birthday and the lady owner answered the phone, at this point I have met all the gentleman and just wanted to introduce myself. Me: " Hello who am I speaking with? Her: " I didn't give a name" Me: " correct that's why I'm asking" Her: what can I do for you" Me: " id like to know who I'm speaking with please" Her " This is Kings Cache" Me" I understand that I'm a new member and just checking in on my comics" then her tune changed. Graciously she wanted to be friendly instead of acknowledging me from the beginning and being secretive and ominous. All of this came from her with a very cantankerous attitude and resistance to lead with the right customer service. They have caller ID there, so usually when I call the fellas already acknowledge me but name. Can't believe the fake high road this lady wanted to drive on. I've had nothing but great experiences and then I call and she gives me two shades of gray. Buyer beware, they are nice til they grab ya, then ounce they have you, the care to get to know you or give you the respect you deserve is obsolete. The one gentleman is great the other two could care less for you. Austin Books and Comics and Batcity comics have now graciously taken my business. Which is good because if I see another funko pop my head will explode. Stick with dolls and leave the comics to the big boys. Just because it's a hobby doesn't mean you have to give it a bankers mentality. Ebay, Other stores and Collector conventions offer too much competition. Be better humans. You made this guy feel awful on a day that was so important you won't realize. At the end of the day you just had to be nice, you know who you were and to that my circles and collectors corners will not drive from hill country anymore to spend our disposable income. Thank goodness Batcity just opened up. Can get two more comics for the gas saved!!! I hope this helps do better, because I'm still reeling and this message doesn't do what I witnessed justice. Something felt very nostalgic about it and the place gave me the warm and fuzzies like I was kid again. There were so many different rooms and activity zones that kept little ones busy and excited the whole time. Every corner had something new to explore, from play areas where kids can stimulate their imagination, to indoor slides, hands on toys, and creative play stations. It really felt like a kid's dreamland. There is also an outdoor space for the kids to play in, which was a nice bonus, and plenty of variety so children can move from one activity to the next without getting bored. It worked especially well for a birthday party since a large group of kids could all stay entertained at the same time without stepping on each other's fun. They have a designated space where parties can eat food and cake, which makes celebrating easy and organized. They had little seats for the kids to sit in, which can accommodate roughly 20-25 kids. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer. The play sessions were capped at about two hours per session and the time went by fast because the kids were having such a great time. Overall, a good experience and a great spot for younger children to play and celebrate. I would definitely return again and recommend for a kids birthday if you want to keep kids entertained. My kids loved the place.

I don't feel there was a weird smell at all, it smells like meyers cleaning products which I think is a good sign. Employees are constantly cleaning up after the kids and everything thats off limits is clearly placed up on the shelves away from reach. For $60 a month you can come as much as you want and I think that's a great deal, especially because you can take 3 toys home, like a library book, with you each time you visit. Highly recommend!
