The Urbandale location is the worst tanning place ever! The employees are so rude and inappropriate. The only nice person is the manager and they put too many chemicals in the cleaner so my body broke out in a heat rash! read more

I usually get that done every 3-4 months when I reach a point where the hair on my sides becomes wild and unmanageable. The top is thin enough that there's no worries up there. Ankeny, half the equipment is always in need of repair and they can't seem to get anyone to fix it because it stays broke for long periods of time. I don't think they sweep the floor very often either. They are always trying to get you to upgrade. They will tell you the tan you have a membership for is too strong for you to go full time but you can go full time in one of the upgrade beds. It's all about the upsell.

Hayleigh? I'm not sure how it's spelled) at the north Ames location. I just wanted my hair trimmed and a lightened -- balayage, highlights, whatever -- I didn't really care. I always trust my stylist to do what makes the most sense. That's it. Trim the dead ends and make my hair blonder. She seemed confident so I totally trusted her. First, she left me sitting with bleach in my hair for 40 minutes while she LEFT to go eat her dinner. She came back, took my to the sink to shampoo/rinse and put a toner in my hair. She left me there for another 55 minutes (super uncomfortable sitting with your head in a sink for 55 minutes lol) while she left to GO TO THE CAFE ACROSS THE STREET. What? She went to go buy cheesecake with her coworkers. She came back, ate her cheesecake, then came back to me. She washed my hair, blow dried it, and it was awful. My hair was grey and purple. Then she trimmed it, and screwed up the trimming around my face so much I ended up looking like I had a mullet. A grey and purple mullet. Yes. Anywho, I was polite about it but said I was unhappy and surprised by the result. She offered to try and fix it the next day and I declined and just asked to not be charged. They declined my request, and charged me almost twice the amount it said I'd be charged on their website ($113 on their website, and they charged $197). I went to Leedz Salon the next day and they fixed it. They're wizards. Please just go to Leedz instead and stay far away from this place.

Check the timeline of events that happened: Saturday at 4.30 I went to Nikki's Nails -needed to remove my gel nails (real not acrylic) -wanted to get a new gel manicure set. Got done at 6 pm or so. Came home around 6.15 pm washed my hands. You can't imagine the horror on my face when I looked at my hands. [check photos now] Nikki's nails are closed on Sunday. I came to them right after work on Monday with a band-aid on my thumb and the rest of the fingers started to bubble. How I was treated: Upon entry, I calmly explained the situation and asked for my 50$ back and I wanted my nails not fixed, but just off. I didn't want anything to do with this bubbling, peeling manicure. My nails were done by three different people, one person was taking off, one person was putting the base, and one person was painting. So of course, when everyone does everything nobody cares. So the girl that I saw on Monday, was the one who actually put the color on. She yelled, was rude, told me they won't return the money and they cannot fix anything for me right now and I needed to wait 2,5 hours for someone to get free. When I asked for the manager (calmly) she said she was out of town (convenient), but the cherry on top was that after she continued yelling at me and peeling WITH HER hands my nail. Despite all of this, she said I was being difficult.... Now, I have never written a bad review for any place, because I really try to get all my problems resolved in a quiet and professional way, but this won't do. I strongly recommend not going to Nikki's nails. This place is trash. Literal trash. It's not worth even checking.
