I get massages a lot and have had many Thai massages. Let me tell you that Mona is fantastic! I was on vacation when I found Tao Massage, and I'm so glad that I did! From what I hear, all of the massage therapists are terrific. My experience with Mona was out of this world. She was so great that I made another appointment for the next day! I was having horrible back and leg pain, and she massaged deeply--which I really needed. She also walked on my back (my request). She is a total pro. They charge $60 for an hour which is $10 less than I pay where I live, so for me, the price is right :) Mona also has a very sweet personality. If I lived near Austin, I would see her (and the other therapists) regularly. Thank you, Mona, for an incredible massage--you are the best! I have now been here twice and the first time was my first ever professional massage. I got a one hour massage and by the time it was done I wish I would have gotten 2 hours. So my second visit that's exactly what I did. My massage therapist (second visit) took her time and focused on releasing the knots in my shoulders and neck and was very thorough about it. She was a tad bit chatty but didn't force conversation once she realized I like to zone out. Front desk staff is nice and informative. Rooms can be a tad bit chilly but the low lights and soft music definitely help to keep a calm peaceful vibe. read more

Since my last review I've been back her a few times. This is a great place to get away and relax. NEWS FLASH they no longer have the Foot and Back one hour massage for $35. I had slept wrong one night and my shoulder and lower back has been so tight. I was dying to get in and I asked my husband to schedule an appointment for me. He had a gift certificate that he let me use. I was so ready for an hour of relaxation and hopefully get the kinks out of my back. I arrived for my appointment and was greeted by the usual lady that's there. I got in the room and we were all set up and Mr. Dan started working on my legs and feet. I feel asleep during my treatment and the next thing I knew he woke me up and said we were done. I was totally confused because he didn't work on my back. I was in my relax daze and so confused. I left my tip and went home. My husband asked how it was and I was explaining to him what happen. He got upset and said I should call and tell them what happened. When he scheduled the appointment he told them foot and back per the certificate. They called him a second time that day to confirm and ask what treatment they were doing. I called and wasn't sure if I was going to speak to anyone since they were closing or closed already. I spoked to Leo and explained to him what happened. I told him that the treatment I got was not what I expected and the gift certificate I had was for a foot and back. He offered for me to come in and I could have a 10 minute back massage. I said no way what I expected was 30 minutes feet and 30 minutes back. He said ok I could have the 30 minute table back massage at no charge. I scheduled an appointment for the following day. So the second day I went in. I was greeted by another lady that I had seen there before. I told her who I was and she knew who I was and knew what the situation was. I asked her if she knew or could explain to me what happen. That's when she informed me that the foot and back is no longer a service they are offering. She showed me their new service menu and said they have the hand and foot reflexology where they focus 10 minutes on back only and then do the hand and foot. She showed me that there were 30 and 60 minute service. Now that I was all up to date with their services off to the room I went. It was 30 minutes and it was wonderful. The first time I had Ashiatsu it was weird but I've gotten used to it. The pressure is great on my body. Really helps the tension. I'm bummed out about no more foot and back. The prices are still reasonable. I commend Tao Massage handling the way they did. I was really upset about it and they made it right. The people are always nice. Wanda is a talented and passionate masseuse! I had a few knots in my shoulder and back that were making it impossible for me to turn my head. I was in so much pain. I booked a 90 minute massage and she worked really hard to ensure my body was "jelly" when I left and got the knots out. She also did some yoga-inspired stretched on my legs that helped loosen me up. She ended with a relaxing head and neck massage. She took pride in her craft and in ensuring she would make sure I left feeling better. I also love that all the tables are heated, space is clean and the sheets are always ultra soft. My work schedule is crazy, so I can always call with little notice and book an appointment. BEST. MASSAGE. EVER. --I called this place after being referred by a friend, and they got me in for a massage within the next hour. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The massage is a collection of different types of massage (please note their website for techniques). I had a horrible headache that day which was completely gone by the the time I walked out. I have never had a massage that thorough and therapeutic before. Amazing. :) --It is a small building so you have to walk past others getting chair massages which would be a distraction for me, but I was placed in a separate room (due to the request of a full-body massage). The building also had an odd odor to it, which threw me off secondary to associating "spas" with aromatherapy, but overall it was very relaxing with dim lights and soothing music. Wow, I get massages all the time, and I do roam around for the best and have still yet to find one that is memorable - in fact the opposite the last few...do they talk when they are massaging - is the environment crappy/noisy, unkempt,are they too rough or opposite; lazy hands. I decided I just wanted a foot massage vs. a full body and ended up here for a Reflexology - hands, neck, head and feet and OMG!! I fell asleep which I have not done in over 3 years (last good masseuse I went to moved to Colorado). BE SURE you get Mr. Dan. It's $35 for an hour of great relaxation and it's worth it, so I tipped him well. Yes it's in a retail strip mall (by Sprouts) but I've paid for a massage at a high-end spa before and it was crap (not all of course are - just no need to pay $100+ for a good masseuse). I have been curious about this place since I saw their "Coming Soon" signs last year. I'm very particular about my massages, so I held off for a long while until going here. This past Saturday, I really thought I was going to lose my mind. My kids were making me crazy, the weather sucked, I had slept funny. So I told my husband I was going to go kill some time before I killed a person and headed over to the Starbucks next to this place. After drinking a coffee, I wandered over to see what this whole foot massage thing was all about. I walked in and was a little freaked out by the tiny foyer area. It's maybe a 3 by 6 foot place with a little desk and a big curtain blocking the view of the treatment area. I made an appointment for an hour from then and went to explore Sprouts. When I went back for my appointment, someone invited me to sit in the treatment room. It took a minute for my eyes to adjust. The room is full of recliner looking chairs and foot stools facing a large bookcase like thing. I sat in my chair and the person assigned to me went to go get a tub of water. She plopped my footsies into the warm water and gave me a shoulder/head massage. There didn't appear to be anything in the water. Just water. I'm not sure what purpose this serves except to get the surface dirt off. There wasn't a scrub or anything involved. The foot massage itself was......well.....it was pretty great. I mean, who DOESN'T want some anonymous person to give you a nice firm foot rub? Unless you are freaked out by someone touching your feet. But then why would you be there? Anyway. After she was done with my feet, she suggested I turn over on my belly. That was a little unexpected and I was a little weirded out. So imagine my surprise when she jumped up to the arms of my chair and proceeded to walk on my back. After I got over my shock and relaxed, it turned out to be pretty freaking awesome. Overall, a good experience. I only gave 4 stars because I don't think that there was much "reflexology" going on. More of a foot rub thing. Also, there seemed to be a lot of traffic in and out of the building. You could hear the phone ring and the door opening and closing. There is a Chinese restaurant next door and you can hear people over there yelling. Still, it was good. read more

So I left relaxed but I didn't feel like it was a very personalized experience that focused on my particular knots and sore spots. I've been here many times over the years. I love it because they can get you in on very short notice- like I've called an hour ahead of time and gotten an appointment. Their prices are really reasonable. I usually go for a foot and back massage. It's a full hour for less than half the price of a massage at a day spa type place. The massage is done fully clothed. I usually wear shorts or yoga pants that I can roll up and a tank top kind of shirt. You are seated in a recliner style chair that can be laid back flat and converts to a massage head support when you flip over on your stomach for the second half of the massage. They keep the room nice and dim and don't allow talking so as not to disturb other guests. I've gone with friends and they have two recliners in a room so you can go together. The facility always seems clean and well maintained and the staff is very polite and good at massage. I believe they also offer full undressed private room Swedish massage, but I've always gone for the cheap and convenient foot massages. Highly recommend and I look forward to my next visit at Tao Massage. read more

My neck had been out of whack for a few days and home massages, pain meds and stretching were not getting it back into whack. I wanted a chair massage just to focus on the areas needing help. Having read the reviews on Tao a few times, I decided to try the chair massage here. Anyway, my MT was FABULOUS. He worked out all the kinks, knots and tension. It was intense, but exactly what I needed. I finally understand the John Cougar Mellencamp song - Hurts So Good! I'm a little tender today, but that was an expectation and a fair trade for making the chronic pain go away. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that I had to remove my shoes before entering their treatment areas and wasn't given anything else to put on my feet. That kind of grossed me out as I don't want to walk through someone else's fungal ick. I'm really curious about their foot massage, but as I have such ticklish feet, I don't know that it would be a benefit. I may try their Tao Massage next. I would recommend, especially if you need a firm hand for a really deep massage! read more
