At first I was skeptical about paying (what I consider to be) a lot of money for private hand gun lessons as a first time hand gun owner. My instructor was Ernie Medina. I completed a 3 session course, totaling 6 hours of training on pistol basics. Upon conclusion I received my NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting certification that is a prerequisite to obtain CCW permits in some states, including Arizona and California. I can tell you Ernie provides exceptional one-on-one training. I would not have been able to improve my skills alone by reading manuals of books; by watching YouTube; or being in a classroom setting. If you are considering learning how to safely operate and own a firearm - whether for recreational use or home protection - then the 'Fully Loaded" Experience is right for you. Being a competent practitioner does not always translate to being a effective instructor, but Ernie is exceptional in both his knowledge of firearms training and his ability to educate. He has a talent for identifying parallels in the learner's personal experience to promote understanding and retention of the concepts. I don't like guns... I think the world would be a better place without them. However, that is not the world we live in and my desire to protect my home and my family supersedes my personal feelings about firearms. Ernie was receptive to my apprehension and modified the instruction accordingly. Within an hour at the range, I was more comfortable and confident with the firearm, and the experience change from anxious to enjoyable. I also really appreciated that Ernie was thorough and deliberate in communicating proper etiquette and protocol at the range. The only other time I used a firearm was at a range 15 years ago and it was not a good experience to be rebuked for not knowing the finer points of conduct. Ernie never made me feel rushed even though I am sure the time exceeded the typical allotment. You can always learn new things in handling any firearm and TRB is the place to do just that. I attended a renewal CCW class and I was impressed. His training was far superior that the other CCW classes I have taken. To the point, even though I have had a career in law enforcement and been in one too many officer involved shootings, I learned really valuable lessons from this course. My basic grip has changed as did my thought process on how to engage a threat in the 2021 civilian world. This course was much longer than the typical CCW course, but in every minute you got something out of the added time. I think any new CCW person would walk out of this course confident of the CCW rules, procedures and the civil liability piece. My last thought is that getting CCW legal protection from USCCA or another vendor is a must. After a shooting you are all alone. Been there, done that. read more

Ernie is an instructor at the highest level both in experience and instructional quality. I cannot recommend this class enough ! Ernie is a very intelligent , courteous and patient instructor. From start to finish the class was very smooth and informative, I honestly learned a lot not only about the laws and regulations but also how to properly engage and use the firearm. Even if you've never held a firearm prior you will walk a competent marksmen. Also the classes are held at FT3 one the best ranges around! My family and I just completed a weekend training (3 sessions for 6 hours total) of firearm safety, tactical training and NRA pistol certification. I cannot speak highly enough of Ernie and his training courses. We all feel more knowledgeable on the anatomy of guns, safety education, stances, tactical positioning and aiming. I highly recommend TRB. Ernie Medina is a retired Captain in the US Marine Corps and a graduate of the US Naval Academy. He is an expert shooter and was an instructor and trainer in the corps, as well. Who wouldn't want firearms training from a former U.S. Marine Captain and operations officer who is also a certified NRA pistol instructor? That is who Ernie is, and he has also been a high-level combatives and weapons expert for nearly 30 years, so I felt that he is definitely someone I could trust for my CCW training. Now that I have completed his course and received my official certificate of training for a CCW permit, I know that I made the right choice. I felt that Ernie was extremely thorough and easy to follow during the course, whether in the classroom or on the range shooting live ammunition.
