They were also disorganized, so didn't seat people according to the waiting list, and everyone seemed to be flying by the seat of their pants. The food was fine, but would definitely recommend just ordering from the Iverness Park Market next door (it's the same menu made from the same kitchen) and then find seating on your own. I love the Tap Room! It seems mostly locals come here for the food and beer and I am always a little wary if tourists will be welcomed. As a person of color, I never know if the vibe will be friendly or otherwise. Everyone from the the guy taking our orders to the diners were friendly, welcoming and the vibe was lively and fun. I felt like I belonged. The particular night we were there, a pair of traveling musicians set up their gear and played a lovely set of easy listening music. The food was great (taco Tuesday) and my husband, the beer enthusiast, loved their limited but tasty selections. I had a hard time extracting him from the bar! I have been frequenting the Inverness Park Market for many years during my journeys through West Marin. It is truly a great place, fresh ingredients and an overall great representation and support of the local food scene. So, I decided to try the newish Tap Room next door. Mind you, they actually share one kitchen, but the food is slightly different. I ordered the Reuben because the menu really represented it well - it sounded kind of dreamy. However, dreams don't always represent reality... it was way too oily. The entire sandwich was drenched in oil. I did not at all enjoy it and implore the chefs to make a cleaner Ruben sandwich in the future. I won't be visiting the Tap Room again, unfortunately, but I will always go to IPM - never had a bad sandwich there. P.S the staff were kind and gave us great service. Came here for dinner and what a nice surprise. Such a good, happy feeling inside and the food was incredible. The barbecued oysters were perfect to start, especially with the bbq sauce. Came here by myself after a fun day at the beach. My server was quick, very kind and polite. I got offered a window seat. It's a tiny spot with a few tables. Everyone knew each other, had that small town feel. I loved that they used compostable plates, and they recycled!! It's attached to the deli next door, which surprised me... It was a long fun day lol. I got the grilled chicken sandwich with fries, amazing!! The flavors blended together flawlessly! I really liked the pesto and aioli sauce, plus I just like sandwiches. I also got a to-go order to take back to Sac with me, from what I could smell the clam chowder smells really tasty too!! Pleasant enough if you insist on sitting down for dinner. The Tap Room is what I expected from years of sampling coastal places from Marin to Humboldt counties. My rule of thumb: if you're used to big city reviews, deduct one star to reset expectations for coastal restaurants. If you don't insist on sitting, i suggest a cold sandwich with fries from the deli/market that shares a kitchen. The fries were worth eating, but probably better because we asked for no salt. Cold avoids the over buttering that spoiled the better than expected pastrami in my Reuben sandwich, overwhelming the cheese. One companion was glad he asked for the barbecue sauce on the side of his tri-tip sandwich. The other ate the fish but didn't care for the "taco" part. The oysters were typical Tamales Bay - better cooked than raw. The raw ones were remarkably salty suggesting the shucker washed it with salt water, losing the natural liquor. One of my four (shared dozen) was sloppily shucked, leaving too much muscle attached to shell. The grilled oysters were slathered with garlic butter like the Reuben's toast. Our server was friendly and competent, if spread a bit thin. I miss the old school competence of Chez Madeline. But that was a difficult century. read more

We happened upon Tap Room after a full day of hiking, like pretty much everyone who ends up here. The beer selection wasn't huge, and mostly had breweries like Ft Point and Drake's that are available at every corner store in SF - nothing special there. I did notice they had a bunch of sake available though! We both got the fish taco plate, which was delicious and totally hit the spot. When I finished eating, I wanted to wash my hands and was directed to the super-nasty portopotties outside. At $17 / 3 tacos, I should not have to use a portopotty...that's some Coachella $*@%. I dined at the Tap Room twice during my stay near Point Reyes Station. Both times Andrew and the other staff were friendly, accommodating, professional, and fun to chat with. Once I sat at a table outside, and once at the bar. Both were nice places to eat. My only criticism of this restaurant, and it's minor, is that the barstools were not particularly comfortable. Then again, I sat on one for 3.5 hours while watching an entire Giants versus Dodgers baseball game, so there's that to consider. Thursday night was Thai food night, and I had a wonderful and generous portion of Thai fried rice with tofu.They have a small but nice selection of beers on tap, too. Saturday night I had their terrific fish tacos, made with fresh local cod, perfectly breaded and fried, on a hearty corn tortilla with shredded cabbage, avocado, crema, and a great spicy salsa. Delicious. Go where the locals tell you to go. Our friends live down the street and this is like their second kitchen... probably their first since they really don't cook. We joined a larger party at the communal table in the back and eventually had it all to ourselves. It is a great space and hidden behind the bar. Place is very casual and we ordered from Andrew behind the bar. My Market salad with a chicken side was MASSIVE!!! and yummie. The Taco Trio was perfect with crispy outside and moist and tender inside. The kids grilled cheese was perfectly portioned and satisfying. We will definitely stop by here again. Just sit next to a fan to keep the flies at bay. If you don't have time to sit down, the Market next door has almost the same stuff but a couple bucks cheaper. read more

Came for lunch on a wild and wet day. We were so hungry, almost anything would do! This tiny space was cold inside and had a United menu. My partner ordered the Ruben and I tried the fish and chips special. The lowdown: the corned beef in the Ruben was so salty, I found the sandwich inedible. The fish and chips was pretty awful, too: thick and not very crispy batter that tasted like paste hiding under seasoned fish within. Thank heavens for tartar sauce as I denuded the fish of its papier mache coating, added salt & pepper, then dunked it in tartar sauce. Adding insult to taste bud injury, drinks - tea and beer- and food were all served in/on paper. Why oh why? So wasteful but hopefully compostable along with the batter and other uneaten foods. Understaffed, too busy, This tall table was so squished in that we couldn't fit, so we had to wait for a different table. The waitress took my friends multiple requests for how she wanted her food, and although waitress was frazzled, it came out exactly the way my friend had requested. Stopped in the Tap Room on a Thursday while staying in Inverness at an Air B&B. We were hungry and didn't want to drive far from where we were staying since we had already driven 3 hours to get to our destination. It was Thai food night. We ordered Thai fried rice with mixed seafood, and the spring rolls. The food was so delicious and beyond what we expected. The fried rice, made with brown rice, was very flavorful and plentiful. Lots of seafood included. We liked the place so much, we went back the next evening to try different menu items. We ordered fish and chips and BBQ oysters. Everything, again, was delicious. My partner and I stopped in after our beach clean-up hike, and were all around pleasantly surprised. Bare in mind, because it's a tiny little place they do not have restrooms or a place to wash your hands after beach going, so if you need handicap accessibility keep that in mind, but our server was accommodating in helping us feel clean and comfortable while seating us. We were impressed by the ecological considerations made-- food options are sustainable/local, flatware is compostible, and it's encouraged to bring your own bottle or glassware for beverages. Portions were surprisingly large and very filling after a long day outdoors. I especially appreciated the fish tacos with three hearty cuts of rock cod (a more sustainable seafood option than the typical taco fare, and a portion size unheard of towards the inner Bay Area). Fresh ingredients and a decent beer/wine/cider list for a small joint. Also, a nice atmosphere with local wildlife photography displayed on the walls and friendly locals that will chit chat with you table-side (because there's definitely no private conversations in those kinds of close quarters.) So happy I tried this place out for dinner. Service was friendly and the Pilsner (wish I'd gotten the name of it!) was so good. The cheeseburger also hit the spot after a morning of trail running. I liked that it was well proportioned and the lettuce and tomato were really fresh. It's definitely a locals place where I think the guy behind the bar knew many of the patrons...and some of them knew each other. Really appreciated the small town, unpretentious vibe. Wednesday is Sushi night. It was recommended to make reservations so we did for 5pm. We arrived on time and were seated in 10 minutes. Only one employee in front and place was filling fast. My husband isn't a fan of Sushi, so asked for a menu. Told only Sushi and clam chowder tonight. We ordered. Pot stickers and chowder arrived in about 10 minutes. Some of the Sushi arrived about 15 minutes later. We noticed other customers were able to order different food...I guess someone decided other foods were available after all. At 6:15, the second plate of Sushi arrived. By now, we had enough of the hard wood seats, the noise and service. We got a to go box and took the Sushi home. We ended up tossing the stuff.
