We stoped by for Wednesday sushi night. The sushi was okay, rice was a little gummy, but the wait was terrible. We were told at 7:00 pm the wait for a table was 30 minutes so we decided to do take out. It took 56 minutes to fill our order. This was so disappointing to wait this long midweek. If we had known it would take so long we would not have placed our order. And we could see the table service wait for meals was just as long after being seated. read more

We arrived just before they closed but were still warmly received and served promptly. The food was delicious in very large servings. The Thai fried rice and the chicken with peanut sauce were very tasty. A very simple set up which delivers an excellent meal. Congratulations! read more

This was a great stop on the way back from hiking in Pt Reyes. a small, but cozy, and friendly spot for some comfort food, and selection of beer and wine. the staff was friendly. Their store next door has a great selection as well, so be sure to stop in. Only non-fun item is the bathroom is a porta-potty out back. Bleh. read more

First time here. Ordered the special; Chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. All of it was very bland. Chicken poorly prepped and cooked. Beans extremely basic. Red enchilada sauce, no flavor. Cheese, un-identifiable, not melted, and zero flavor. No salsa offered. Should not have ordered the special, and instead tried something from their std menu, but, honestly, I now hold out no hope for that being good. Beer was good. Staff very nice. We started our Point Reyes vacation with a Thursday night Thai dinner at the Tap Room, and it was delicious!  So we were very excited to return a few days later for Sushi night.  BIG Mistake!  We ordered ahead online but when we arrived to pick up our order, they hadn't even started making our sushi!  We literally watched them make all our items and about 30 minutes later left with our food.  It was NOT good.  Yes, it was freshly made, but that's the only positive thing I can say.  It was barely edible, tasted terrible and one of the dishes came with a strange sauce on top.  Go for the beer.  Go for the Thai food on Thursdays, but stay far, far away from sushi night. read more

Such a delight. If you have read other 4 & 5 star reviews, then you can believe them. It was our first visit and it didn't disappoint! Stopped in for a late Sunday lunch. Wifey ordered the Reuben (TOP notch!!) I had the cheeseburger which was great, but was really just a backup for her if she didn't care for the Rueben. Turns out it was one of the best she's ever had. Teenage son experimented with some kind of Asian-inspired noodle/veggie dish which had a really great spicy kick. Great service from friendly staff. We'll be back. read more

We had guests in from out of town and took them to point Reyes. Problem was, it was a Tuesday and everything was closed ..... except Tap room!! We had beers and it was perfect. Good selection and the bar tender was great. We didn't eat so can't comment on food. read more

Best Rueben I've ever had. Excellent IPA on tap. Friendly, unpretentious, and very good. Great place to hang out, enjoy the view of Tomales Bay, and watch the goats graze in the pasture with the trailer across the road. read more

I was about to walk out of this place but I am glad I didn't. It was packed being the first day of summer and they only had one waitress working the place. But once I saw the food orders come out to other tables I was sold and stayed. The Ruben and Tritip sandwich's my wife and I had were the best I've tried. 3.5 stars. Nice little place near Point Reyes National Park visitor center. It has a few tables inside (can be noisy) and a few tables outside. There are about 6 beers on tap and a few wines by the glass. The 2 IPAs we try have nice flavors. Sandwiches, salads, soups, and fish tacos are on the menu. The heart's desire tri tip sandwich ($15 comes with fries or salad) is very good. The fish tacos ($15) are disappointing as the fish did not taste fresh. The service is friendly and efficient. The restrooms are 2 port-o-potties in the back parking lot. read more

See this fish tacos on their pic? THE best on the planet. Amazing food here the Mushroom Melt was delicious and great seasonal soups. I stop by once a week for those fish tacos. Very fresh ingredients and a delightful staff. They are the best of local stores - well worth a drive out to Inverness. I suggest that they put chicken back on their menu - they make THE best fried chicken on the planet also - usually just Sundays. This place is awesome! It's tucked away in the small village of Inverness and is very quaint, stylish and cozy. The food we all had was really good, and even my kids loved the options for them. There were many locals there also, and the staff was very warm, helpful and patient with our questions. Highly recommended and perhaps even worth a short drive off your main path for a yummy, cozy dining experience. read more

Cannot get past this restaurant not having a restroom. Yup, enjoy the porta-potty out back with no place to wash your hands after. Oh, but please come back to the table and share the mediocre nachos. The real question is where do the employees wash their hands.... After a long hike at Point Reyes, my girlfriends and I ate here after a search for cheeseburgers. We had the nachos with Carne Asada to start and they were delicious. The cheeseburger was also delicious but expensive. Our only real complaint was the cost of the iced tea. The iced tea was $22 for four people, with 1 refill each. They grab a bottle of Tejava tea from the market next-door and mark it up around 400%. We could've bought a bottle in the store that sells for $2.45. Two bottles for around $5 would be better than $22. Buy your own iced tea!! Also the desserts were not delicious . We did manage to finish them though. read more

Go try it, it was good, I just plan to go to other restaurants in the area next time. I was looking forward to eating fresh oysters because in the past I think I've mostly had them from a jar. The texture on my half-dozen was very nice and had a good bite to it. The bbq sauce that it came with by itself was very flavorful, it had just the right amount of spice. But, the two didn't go together at all for me, the spice was overpowering the fine oyster taste completely. What a shame. Ask for mild or other sauce. The taco plate was delicious, they got over in an instant. I didn't care to constantly have to shoo the flies away from my food. The porto-potty, while pretty clean, was not an ideal arrangement for starting my visit here. But it has running water for washing hands. read more

Feeling like this was our only true option for lunch in the small town of Inverness, we stopped in without high hopes. However, we completely underestimated the Tap Room! All 4 members our party absolutely loved what they ordered - high marks especially to the Ruben and also the Mushroom Melt. The beer on tap was great and service was great. Great place, love the idea of pouring your own beers. I got to try a few different ones - the tangerine heffenweizen was my favorite. Food was tasty-we had the shrimp appetizer which was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly, the hero burger which was a monster and delicious. The only thing that didn't impress was the greek salad - bell peppers didn't go well with it. Service was very attentive. We'll definitely go back. read more

The food was super tasty! Both of us got the fried chicken sandwich. They were out of a lot of options--a bummer but a testament to their deserved popularity. They have a nice set of tap beers, and a small, comfortable space. The sandwiches we got came with a nice side salad which is definitely my preference over fries. We got sweet potato fries in addition that were well fried and tasted good, although honestly we had enough food without them. Also the staff were doing a great job, even after what was probably a crazy day, so hats off. read more

This is truly the best Reuben sandwich I've ever eaten. Once you've eaten this, there is no point to try to find better. The meat was superb, the sour kraut was fresh and just right, perfect amount of sauce. And bread was fresh, toasted slightly, somewhat thicker than average sandwich bread. We've dined at the Tap Room a couple times recently. It's great to have a West Marin restaurant that doesn't think a menu is complete if you have oysters. Some vegetarian options, and special menus (sushi, asian, etc) various nights. It's a small place: get there early or make a reservation. read more

The tiny, fatty $17 "Reuben" was pretty awful, as were the porta potties, which were filthy and full of flies. I'm quite sure the staff have their own bathroom although they claim there isn't one. Loud, dirty and overpriced, this place is just appalling. Since some reviews were positive, I can only think The Tap Room must have tanked in quality and cleanliness over the last few months. The Health Department needs to visit this place soon. read more
