Really enjoyed the Tap Room. Ate outside on the patio on a beautiful evening. The service, food and drinks were excellent.

Great popovers and service was fantastic. Nice little spot to sit outside. No reservations. Easy.

The hostess and bartender/server were friendly and professional. The restaurant was clean. The food was just ok. The popovers were a little overdone and crispy. The Mediterranean Salad was decent. A little too much dressing for my taste, but not bad. We had the "Bic M-ACK because it was raved about by many. It was very greasy and left me feeling . The server tried her best and even took the burger off the bill... (she definitely did not have to, nor did we expect it). She offered us different options... We wouldn't rush back. read more

I popped into the Tap Room with my family of 7 and was pleasantly surprised. The tuna tostada and bagel and lox was excellent. My daughter had a mango mule (non alcoholic) and loved it. My other kids loved the butter noodles, burger and chicken tenders. The service was great and I did not have to pester my kids to eat which was a big win for the adults. read more

This is a wonderful place to have a meal, right at Center and Broad Street next to the Jared Coffin House. I've enjoyed their clam chowder and also thier lobster roll. Both were fantastic! Great service, covered outdoor and uncovered outdoor seating. I'll be back! read more

We had the absolute best lunch here! The patio was beautiful and we were so lucky to get to sit outside on a crisp, sunny fall day. The big m-ACK burger was honestly one of the best I'd ever had. It was cooked perfectly, the prime sauce was out of this world, as were the house made pickles and crispy side of fries. We almost had to order another one it was so good. I'll be dreaming about this burger back in California... Additionally, the mixed green salad was a great starter with burrata and baby artichokes. We had some seasonal bourbon cocktails that made the meal. Will definitely be back to try dinner! read more

I was disappointed by this place. I ordered the shrimp roll and it had literally on 6 pieces of shrimp on it -- seems like a rip off for the price (about $30). Service was lacking; despite being nearly empty -- it took a while to get service and our server was not knowledgeable about anything we asked. For example I asked what their haziest IPA was and she said the lager (which isn't an IPA). The only thing I'll give this place credit for is the ambiance. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit outside and eat; they have a large outdoor dining area. Perhaps you can stop by for a drink, but I'd strongly suggest skipping this place if you want decent food. read more

Unfortunately they were not prepared for the volume of customers (in the middle of the busiest season), which, in itself wasn't the problem. They had one large party that apparently stopped progress on every table in the place...but hey...things happen...what disturbed my family was the way they handled it...like amateurs. The manager hid in the kitchen and rather than go to every table and apologize and either buy them a drink or pay for the appetizer...no one said anything...after an hour the waitress said the food is coming soon...80 minutes and my wife speaking with the waitress and the hostess twice, we received our food. This manager needs to re-think his/her career choice...or maybe get some training. The Chef should be docked pay. No excuses for the poor handling of what could have been a great night, even with delays...not how the pros do it... read more

While the food was delicious, the quantity for several of our meals was downright laughable. I didn't have a chance to take a picture of the Duck Confit, but if consisted of 6 modest bites. The duck was served as a square cube roughly the size of 4 postage stamps... The "crispy skin" wasnt on the duck but rather placed next to it. This was more of an appetizer rather than a $50 meal. The Sea Bass was delicious, two long strips in a sauce (but unfortunately cold). The clam chowder was reportedly delicious. The steak frites was the perfect portion and consisted of an arugula salad, French fries and perfectly seasoned steak. All of our entrees, however, weren't even luke-warm but cold. We had a dinner reservation at 6:30 and left at 9. On Nantucket you expect to pay more, but some family members were still hungry after a ~$500 dinner. read more

Local People running a local restaurant/ institution on Nantucket. The Tap is the Jarred Coffin House built by Jarred in 1845 a wealthy Ship Owner which makes it one of the oldest hotels in Nantucket- Side note- It is Haunted according to locals. But this is review is not about ghosts. I love this place! Inside dining smallish with a great bar also maintaining Nantucket Charm and history. Newish owners are great and provide great food and drink year round which is quite a feat for Nantucket. There is inside and- outside seasonal dining. Menu is great- smaller (which I love) and true to the Chefs roots some great dishes- BEEF BOURGUIGNON, GRILLED SALMON, a great Smash Burger, Amazing Wings, Crab Dip, Escargot, Fresh Popovers- they know what they are doing there. Off season is great normally with specials Monday and Thursdays- Great People as well. You should love this place. Make a reservation or walk-in. read more

In its newly refurbished bar and restaurant, The Tap Room endeavored to reach culinary stars, but fell short in a surprising way; it was simply short of food! While the Popovers were burned, they were tasty. The salad we split was dainty, but the arugula was dressed perfectly, but so small, it was hard to fathom. But the test of the evening was the seafood risotto. I've had many such seafood risottos, including those that I've made myself, but have never had one this perfectly balanced and flavorful. It would have rated ten stars anywhere if it were not for the quantity! The risotto was flattened on the bottom of a standard dinner plate, barely an 1/8 of an inch in depth! I've never been so disappointed! It would have been a home run if it had only been served correctly or in a quantity becoming the dish. The ending disappointment was the Strawberry Shortcake. The entire presentation was compromised of 1/2 of a small strawberry! I was embarrassed for the server (who also happened to be the manager) - she took the desert ofc our tab. In all, the food was delightful, but the quantity (even by classic standards) was laughable. If you have just eaten and love well-prepared food, by all means go to the Tap Room. But if you haven't eaten since lunch, go somewhere else. read more

We've been coming here for years and always enjoyed the food and the service, but not so much this trip. Our waiter, Will, was pleasant and helpful, but the food left a lot to be desired. The chicken entree was exceptionally dry and flavorless but the popovers really failed. They are served in a basket of two; one was barely edible, the other inedible. As in, hard as a rock. I pointed this out to Will - unsuccessfully trying to slice it in front of him - and he agreed, "that's not right." Yet, it stayed on our bill. read more

Absolutely delicious! Wonderful ambiance outside on the patio and inside it's beautiful. Enjoy with your friend for a lovely dinner or with family for an elevated but edible kids meal. We started with popovers - delish. Then crab and asparagus, scallops, and beef tartare were delish and big enough for 5 adults to enjoy as apps. We each ordered amazing entrees: branzino, salmon, duck, and filet. Everyone in our party was happy and impressed with the food. The fish was absolutely amazing. Dessert didn't disappoint - my 10 yr old devoured her chocolate mousse, and we ordered MORE sticky toffee pudding after 2 servings for the table weren't enough! Fab wine, great cocktails. Favorite new mid tier restaurant on Nantucket. Most friendly and attentive staff we've had in weeks. Swordfish, popovers, and whoopy pies were all amazing. Beautiful patio setting right in the middle of town. Cocktails were great (specifically Margaritas). Returned a few times already and staff recognized us and came over to say hi. Tremendous addition to the island. read more

Just had a very disappointing experience. We arrived around 4:25 and asked hostess if we could have drinks outside. She said we would have to order an app with drink but she had to check reservation list. She said we could side at a high top by the bar. There was only I table with quests in an area with approx 10 tables. Waitress came and put place setting down and gave us a glass of water. We waited until 5pm. No one came to take our order. Service needs to be improved. We left w/o ordering. Had dinner at Nautilus a few evening earlier . Food was delicious and service outstanding. read more

Not the best experience. I dined alone here and had very inattentive service. The watermelon sangria was tasty and I appreciated the pretty dried-orange garnish but it was mostly ice. The chowder was literal paste and there was not that much of it. Atmosphere seemed lively - a bar environment with tables, but I would not return and would not recommend. read more

This appears to be a new restaurant that is definitely still getting established. Not a great experience and they definitely need to step up their food game if they're charging $25+ per entree. We came here the Friday of Labor Day weekend (visiting from NYC). Food was extremely disappointing especially given the price tag. We arrived at 6 and started off with drinks for a bit just to settle in and relax but the waiters kept asking us about food and definitely wanted to move it along. We ended up ordering the clam chowders which were relatively average, followed by the muscles and the scallops. The presentation of the entrees were beautiful but they tasted horrible and we were unable to eat them - the chef should definitely sample some of the food prior to serving it. The scallops were so salty - you could actually see the salt crystals on the entree in the picture I uploaded. Aside from the salt, the scallops themselves tasted off. We're not super sensitive to salt or extremely picky - these were just overbearing and truly inedible. I've also cooked scallops myself and know that they're relatively difficult to mess up so maybe they were old? The muscles were more edible since they weren't covered in salt (the fries they came with were though), but they tasted like chlorine for some reason. They took away out uneaten plates without really asking about what could have been wrong. Then I guess we were lingering and drinking our wine too long because exactly 1.5 hours after the start of our meal (at 7:30) we were asked to leave because the other reservation had arrived. Beware and if you visit just don't order the seafood (the table next to us was actually raving about the steak)!.. and eat quickly! read more

Dining under the stars! Hands down The Tap Room is the best outdoor dining experience on the island. I have eaten here several times already this summer and I have yet to be disappointed. My favorite app is the tomato Tatare - amazing, local oysters followed by The perfectly seared tuna or the swordfish for a main entree. The service is excellent and knowledgeable- this is my go to spot for a beautiful lunch or dinner. read more

(Formerly known as Nantucket Prime.) We have been coming to Nantucket every summer for ten years now, and I can easily say that this was the absolute worst dining experience we have ever had. Not the food--that was actually very good. We had an 8:15 pm reservation for eight people, and the night started off on a great note. The restaurant was accommodating and the host was able to seat all eight of us together, right next to heating lamps, despite our not having been able to reserve for that large a party via Resy. We were all very hungry, so the waitress was kind enough to take our orders as soon as we were seated. But then everything went downhill. Four of our entrees came out within minutes, before any of our appetizers came out. We let them know, but instead of taking those entrees away and bringing them back out after the appetizers, they simply left them on the table and then brought out all of the appetizers later. So, four of us were in the position of starting the entrees, and then shortly thereafter, having the appetizers. But it gets much much worse. After those plates were cleared, we waited for AN HOUR for the remaining four entrees. The eight of us--four of whom had finished their meals and could have headed home--sat there and waited, with nothing in front of us except cold popovers (one of which came with a live ROACH!), for an hour so that half of our party could finish our dinner. The kitchen closes at 9:30 and we joked that the final insult would be that the waitress would come over and apologize at 9:45, saying that the four entrees would not be coming because the kitchen had already closed for the night. No management ever came over to apologize or even acknowledge what was going on. We ended up spending $500 for this experience. Luckily we are here for over a month, so this will not mar the summer, but we had invited my in-laws for just a few days.  I am beyond disappointed that we not only wasted a meal here, but that it was such a terrible experience for them.  With so many truly wonderful, amazing places to eat on Nantucket, this is one that we will never frequent again. read more

Food was great, dessert was awesome! Staff (with a few excellent exceptions) was no where to be found. The bartender was taking multiple tables, making drinks, and keeping everyone happy, while the floor manager ignored the situation she is fully responsible for. She hung on to the tables that she clearly deemed important and allowed her waitstaff to ignore and refuse working in their designated sections. Our server was amazing, and yet she picked up our table from across the dining room! When she asked for assistance, she was told by another server, "not my problem". Management needs to step up and solve problems instead of ignoring them. Only smiles at our table on the evening came from the food runner and server! (Also, the above mentioned bartender!) Despite the miserable COVID experience impacting Nantucket and resulting mask requirements, etc., the food at the Tap Room was pretty good. However the service was terrible. The hostess was downright angry ... short, harsh and clearly wanted to be anywhere but the Tap Room. Our waitress was slightly better but also clearly not happy. A positive note was that there was a terrific waitress from Romania who took care of several tables surrounding ours. She seemed thoughtful, caring and very attentive. I recommend passing on the Tap Room but if you go, ignore the hostess and request a table attended to by the waitress from Romania. read more

I got seafood risotto and there was 1 scallop but into 4 and 1 shrimp cut into pieces it was corn and peas and parm cream sauce but actually no risotto at all and for $39 really? Just left the Tap room with a very full belly and happy taste buds. Between the two of us, every dish was excellent. The chef clearly gets the idea of thoughtfully pairing ingredients together to create rich and complex flavor. The mushroom toast with Speck, arugula and cheese was a mouthwatering surprise. The wedge salad also full of elevated flavor. My Branzino was perfectly cooked and full of lemon butter flavor. Nothing was mediocre. All richly flavored and fresh, thoughtful ingredients. Awful. Avoid this restaurant at all costs. Very expensive. Terrible food. Rude wait staff. The skirt steak is inedible, frites cold. No one cared. Total bill: $175. Never had a worse meal and the manager said she would not make it right saying she "wanted to deal with customers she cared about. " An awful experience. Stopped in for lunch with friends (first time since the pandemic!). The decor was crisp, clean and fresh. The chicken wings were the BEST I've ever eaten. We had dinner at the Tap Room the first day of our Nantucket vacay - my husband and I both ordered the swordfish and it was amazing! We were in Nantucket for the next 7 days, and this was our favorite dish - and we had dinner at all of the high end restaurants. I would highly recommend the Tap Room. read more
