Last I came to this place, we were seated next to the entrance. It did give me Barcelona vibes as the table was so small lol. Of all the dishes we ordered, there was oke that I hated with a passion haha. The aguacate con cangrejo that's supposed to have crab but I not find crab or tasted anything that like crab, whatever white lump I ate was tasteless. Was a far cry from the other stupendous dishes.

Came here with 4 friends on a Sunday evening right when they opened at 5 PM. It was quiet for half an hour and then groups started trickling in. Attentive and friendly service. The men's bathroom is straight ahead, the women's bathroom is on the right. There's not clear signage so it caused some confusion for my friends. We ordered a variety of dishes but the stars of the show: - Cabrillas Barcelona - Pulpito a la Plancha - Mero con espinacas al Limon The patatas bravas has a small kick to it. This was my first time having this dish smothered in the aioli. I prefer the aioli on the side so I can dip my potatoes.

I remember dining here years ago, and if you fancy a colorful and lively atmosphere with Spanish plates for sharing, you'll get an authentic taste of Barcelona at Tapas Barcelona. We returned again recently and met up with friends, for a convivial evening of sangria and small plates. Of course we ordered Paella Valenciana, and also, well, what didn't we order? We enjoyed: Alcachofas a la Vinagreta, Aceitunas Alinadas, Datilles a la Sevillana, Queso de Cabra con Tomate and Patatas Bravas and many others. Followed up by Bizcocho Borracho. Fun to share, lively and fun, veg plates available, parking challenging, a nice place for friends.

This tapas restaurant in Evanston is great! They have a variety of cold and hot dishes, all with good prices. For a party of 4 we shared 6 or 7 dishes as well as a pitcher of white sangria. The food came out really quickly and was brought out as it was ready. Each dish that we ordered was good but I think my personal favorites were the octopus and the grilled squid! The texture and flavoring of the octopus was so good and the sauce with the squid was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try some more dishes.

This is a very cute place to have lunch. Nice sit down tables enough room for a good conversation with a little bit of privacy. The entrees were good, thoughtfully done portions were not gigantic but they were enough. Service was attentive without being overwhelming. It was overall a very good experience and a place that we would like to visit again.

Came here for an impromptu date night with my husband. I've been here many times over the years. I'll be honest that it's decent tapas but it's not the best tapas. They have the advantage that they are the only tapas restaurant in the area so when in the mood and we don't want to go downtown, we come here! The complimentary bread is very tasty and I ate it with the queso de cabra because the dish only came with 4 skinny pieces of bread! The datiles are delicious and definitely worth a try. The bravas aren't spicy, nor are the potatoes crispy which is typical for other tapas restaurants, but good flavor nonetheless.

Food was delicious! Valencia paella was outstanding. Crab, avocado, cucumber cold plate was delightfully refreshing. Chicken Empanada, steak skewers, snails, pizza, roasted seasoned potatoes, were all wonderful! Creme brulee for dessert - yum! Red sangria and chardonnay for beverages. We had an amazing late lunch, highly recommend. Or server was informative, excellent service! We ate outside, delightful breeze.

I don't give a lot of 5 stars, but this place deserves it. We dropped in around 6:30 and luckily they found a table for three of us. We had the pitcher of sangria, which they did right. No ice in the pitcher just in the glasses. pieces of apple, citrus in the glasses. We ordered an emapanadilla. A large empanada filled with lamb and chorizo. comes with spinach leaves and tomato. Wow a great decision on our part. Really good with a honey mustard mayo. We had the Valencia paella. It was perfect for the three of us. We had a small amount of leftover. Fresh mussels chicken chorizo and chewy rice. So yummy. There's so many dishes to choose from. We'll be back often.

My darling daughter and I came for dinner ! We had been wanting to come here for a few weeks already . Guess what ? Best decision ever! The food was so delicious and uniquely spiced. Every dish and something special to it . We ordered the Patatas Bravas, Fettuccine, Scalloped Pork and Eggplant with goat cheese!! Wow wow wow! Highly recommend and service was great ! Make sure you reserve your table in advance because they get really full. Great customer service and quality!

    Paella Valenciana

Yummy food and great service. We will surely come back if in Evanston. We ordered Paella Valenciana as well as the seafood only paella, Bacon Wrapped dates, Gambas, Octopus Plancha, Calamari, Patatas Bravas, Rigatoni Pasta for the younger ones, the Feta cheese dip and pitchers of Sangria, and several desserts. Ice cream, Banana, Tiramisu. Everything was yummy, orders arrived at a reasonable time.

The patatas bravas were flavorful. The garlic shrimp was cooked perfectly. The fried calamari was the only dish that missed the mark for us, as it was a bit too greasy. The highlight of the meal was the seafood paella. Both the shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly, but what really impressed us was the rice. Paella can be difficult to get right, and the rice had excellent texture and flavor, making the dish a pleasure to eat. We ended with the butterscotch custard which was perfect and the almond caramel bar. After several disappointing dining experiences during our short trip to Chicago, Café Ba-Ba-Reeba finally delivered a meal that left us satisfied. The service was great. She was attentive and efficient. We'd gladly come back.

Only a minor wait to get a table which was a plus since we were just in the area. Wheelchair accessible access in the front is perfect considering a good amount of geriatric population live in this area. Interior is very cute with the rattan wicker lights lining the ceiling. A modern Mediterranean feel with a classy bar just past the entrance. Staff were initially very attentive, but as time went on it did seem to disappear. I believe they were short staffed and currently training a new server which is alright on its own, but getting our food took about 30 minutes. Since we ordered they had time to fill another table besides us, given time for them to look at the menu, explain a minor issue about not having rice without dill available, so they would need to make a new batch, and they confirmed that it isn't a problem to the table being served their food at the same time as us. So they had a substantially less time and they were even able to get their check to leave before we got ours. Food wasn't brought by the servers who took our orders so I'm not sure what happened. Maybe they cook the food in batches or something. Despite the the service the food was good. The portion size for the lunch special is appropriate for the price and probably the best deal. The in-house made pita is exceptional but I feel as if they don't give you enough when you order the roasted eggplant (baba ghanoush). By the time we finished the pita we still had about half the order remaining. I would have loved to ask for more bread but no one came by and our server, I think, was in the back because we didn't see her for some time. I didn't see a patio so dogs are probably not going to be able to enjoy. They are part of Lettuce Entertain You so if you're a member you can get points. Reservations can be made online. So with items being on the expensive side and service slow I probably won't be going back unless I'm in the area during lunchtime. I won't be rushing to get back anytime soon, though.

High quality and innovative cocktails, reasonable prices, and a chic/classy ambiance make Ward Eight must-visit! I tried two cocktails when I was at Ward 8: Remember the Main and Vieux Carre. Both were decadent, delicious, and boozy. Triple threats! I loved them both, but the "Remember the Main" was different from drinks I've had before, so that was my favorite. My husband had a local beer. They have beer, wine, and NA options for folks who aren't into cocktails. They also have food which looks scrumptious, ranging from high-end appetizers to full meals. We did not come prepared to eat, so we'll have to come back again to try food in the future! The staff were welcoming and professional. The space was clean and Gatsby-style chic. There is plenty of seating and an outdoor space for when it is warmer. It is a fancier places, so prices are higher. But you pay for the higher quality ingredients and innovative recipes. It was written in Sharpie, stating they were closed for fall recess, and will return on X date. There was no notice on the website or otherwise. Such boorishness must be earned, I thought, and this place should be phenomenal! Unfortunately, the experience was overall lackluster. I ordered The Ward Eight House Shot, Rabbit Tale [sic], and the Classic Smash Burger from the Ben & Jake's supper club menu. The Ward Eight House Shot was interesting. This one was the most Angostura I'd had in one go outside of Best Intentions (Logan Square bar). A respectable shot and a good way to start or end an evening, however, $10 feels a little steep. As for the Rabbit Tale, the undoing of this one was the menu. This drink was described as "Zesty, Spicy, and Smokey [sic]". While not bland, it felt as though the volume on all of these was turned down to the level of a whisper. These hadn't just 'quiet quit,' they are halfway through week two of a two-week notice. To its credit, the drink was smooth, and while it didn't taste spirit-forward, the alcohol did hit me as one would hope for on a Friday night, thus no complaints about strength. Then there was the matter of food. The smashburger I ordered ended up being thoroughly unremarkable. The patty was not the greatest thing in the world, lacking those crisp edges that make an excellent smashburger, but otherwise passable. That was, untquietil I added the LTO served on the side (for some reason). After adding these in, the burger quickly fell apart, becoming a dégustation on the plate. Other than the house shot, and a small $15 burger without fries, I felt as though their prices were reasonable. Mixed drinks near the city, and not in a divey 'old-man bar' for $15 are relatively hard to find. When it comes to the service, I regretfully have to ding them a bit. Considering how quiet the bar was at the time, it took longer to get my drink than I would have expected. In a similar vein, the service felt a little disorganized, where the bar staff wasn't quite working as a team. Case in point: one bartender excused herself to step away, and the other did not step in to take my order for those five to ten minutes. Final verdict: I do appreciate reasonably priced cocktails, but the menu descriptions need to be taken with a grain of salt. As for food, I am willing to write off disappointment to the popup, and am not against trying something from their menu. All this said, I'd love to give them another chance, but I am also not in a rush to return.
