The tortilla the patatas was awful and I felt I was eating a weird quiche with vegetables. The octopus was not bad but only 3 tiny pieces on a plate. The seafood paella was the worst of all, it didn't taste at all like a seafood paella and it tasted like rice cooked with tomato paste and some dry pieces if seafood on top, rubbery! My Mom was in a wheelchair and he went out of his way to ensure our car was valet parked in the garage of the building where he gave us his personal number so he could give us access to the garage late in the evening. We ordered a lamb's head avocado salad, stuffed mushrooms , salmon, tenderloin steak, potato salad, some shrimp with different sauces, seafood paella ,and creme brûlée. Came here for one of our first post-vaccination indoor meals and it was fun and tasty! The vibe was very clean and tables were well spaced out. Some dishes were fantastic, and some were so-so. Their menu has tons of items that makes it really fun though, so I highly recommend if you enjoy tapas! - Rose Cava sangria - yum, a great match of fruit with the wine. Use caution if randomly biting into the fruit - I had some orange peel in there which added great aroma to the wine, but isn't as tasty directly! - Jamon serrano - the ham and cheese paired very well with the pesto toast! We skipped the tomato slices. One had a clove of raw garlic on it (no oil or anything) - not sure why. - Tortilla española - there's two types and a refreshing side salad. It was great having a classic potato one (could have had a pinch more salt), but I loved the mixed vegetable one!! - Bacon wrapped dates - delicious, with its big juicy dates and perfectly cooked bacon. - Albondigas - we weren't a huge fan of this one. It mainly had an earthy bitter red pepper flavor that overwhelmed the flavor of the meat. - Beef empanadas - in contrast, we loved this one! Really rich depth of flavor and spices in each bite. - Platanos dessert - so so good! I will never see a banana in the same way again. The way it was cooked perfectly draws out the banana flavor, which is then adeptly complemented by the caramel sauce and ice cream. I want to learn how to make this! Hidden gem in south loop. Came here midday before Taylor Swift concert at Soldier Field. There aren't a ton of great options in the area but I was pleasantly surprised by Tapas Valencia. Food was great. Garlic shrimp were cooked perfectly! We loved our waitress but drink service was very very very slow. However, there were a lot of customers who were clearly going to the concert so I think they may have just been understaffed for the odd time of day (our reservation was 3:30 pm). I would 100% recommend this place if you're looking for something a little nicer before a game or event at Soldier Field. They also have a small outdoor patio! read more

We had a reservation before a show and got caught in terrible traffic. We called to say we would be 5 min late. They said they would not hold the table after 15 min. We said we did not want to walk 20 min there if there would not be a table and that it would take us 5 more minutes to get there. She told us we can not save the table. We did walk over to see if we could still eat. When we got there we were again reminded about the 15 min policy. The restaurant was not even half full and by the time we finished eating 90 min later it was still only half full. Not sure why we were not told on the phone that they would try to seat us. We understand the need to have a policy in place for no shows. All we wanted to know is how likely it would be we could still be seated if we were 5 min late. It was still warm enough to sit outside and tapas Valencia was on point in terms of social distancing, individually wrapped silverware and plates and bread for the table. Several times when I've been there I have had Lupillo as our server. He is great with suggestions from the menu and is an excellent server. When you go out the night before brunch and realize you can't function until 13:30, and all the other spots close at 15:00. This is definitely a crisis. However, the lifesaver came in stumbling upon Tapas Valencia on Super Bowl Sunday and getting a hearty meal of Spanish flavors. Sunday offers a great brunch menu with very affordable prices. Right when we were seated, we were given some olives to nibble on and a mimosa/sangria to start. Each were $5 on their drink specials. Next, we ordered our main dish which ended up being the same for both of us: filet mignon sliders with poached eggs and a side of fruit. The meal was amazing! The two sliders were cooked to our liking, the egg whites weren't elastic, but soft; almost gelatinous. Once you pricked open the egg yolks, they spewed out and complimented the sliders so well. On top of that, you have an assortment of seasonal fresh fruits to finish your plate. At $11.95 a plate, it was well worth it for a good meal that did not send you over the edge. I'm very happy that we stumbled upon TV and would love to come back to try more of their drink specials and tapas on hand. Having lived in the neighborhood and having only gone once in 6 years, todays rude experience from the staff reminded us why we don't come here. For Father's Day our family of 8 (5 adults and 3 children) made 2 different reservations for 4 people knowing full well we would not be able to sit together and did not expect to sit together. When we got the restaurant we requested if we could at least have the 2 table be next to each other, whether 6 or 10 feet apart so that if needed me or my wife could help at one table with 3 kids. At no point were we asking the Restaurant to combine our tables or to seat us all together. We were clear we would follow all social distancing rules between our tables and wear masks if needed. Both the host and manager were beyond rude and did not even make an attempt to talk to us or understand what we were requesting. You can have the best food in the world but if you don't know how to treat people and customers, who cares. Stay away if you want good service. I am a tapas fiend, and this place definitely gets my stamp of approval!! The menu is huge, as is typical with a tapas place, but it was very easy to navigate. I loved that most of their sauces were tomato based, and that their patatas bravas was different than a lot of the other Chicago tapas joints. The sauce that came with the croquetas was also phenominal. We were practically eating it off the plate!! The only dish I didn't care for was the cured salmon toast, but my boyfriend absolutely loved it. There really is something for everyone. Our waiter was pretty sparse, but the bussers were all incredibly attentive. They even had one gentleman wipe down our table inbetween our tapas and dessert, which really elevated the experience.
