This review is for the food side only- The birria tacos I had here were possibly some of the worst I have ever came across, the "cheese" was like plastic if you look at it in the photo I have no idea what that even is -the consume was absolutely disgusting it was all grease and cooked down cilantro I've never smelled or tasted something so nasty in my life, the beef was super dry I don't think they dipped it before throwing it into the tacos- I threw these in the garbage I just couldn't even bring myself to eat them I have no idea what they have going on there On the other hand I placed a pickup order online it said a 20 minute wait and I waited 45 minutes for my tacos when people were coming in, ordering and getting their food before me i will never come back here for food and I will make sure to tell everybody to stay away! Great little supermarket. I only walked through the aisles while waiting for the food counter, but the selections seemed great. Fresh produce and a full butcher counter in the back. The al pastor burrito was delicious. Great mix of ingredients in a perfectly wrapped tortilla. The lengua taco was great too. Very tender meat. This is a Hispanic supermarket that has a hot bar for food also. The place always seems very busy when driving by. I've been twice now and have gotten a burrito both times. The burrito is well filled and tasted very good. The green sauce you grab yourself on the counter is so freaking good. Walking around the store, they seem to have a smaller selection than a typical grocery store, mainly ingredients for Latin foods. Found this place on a whim while visiting a friend. This is place you want to go if you just want some really good, no frill tacos. Carne, al pastor and fish tacos are all really good. This place is inside of a small neighborhood market/check cashing place but don't let that fool you! The lady at the counter was nice and got our food out to us quickly. This is definitely not a sit down type of place, so get a drink from the market and enjoy the tacos in the car with a cold beverage. read more

They made the best steak quesadilla I've ever had in my life. My wife agreed that it was perfect. The cilantro/garlic crema was an amazing addition. Ive been coming to Tapatias for a while now, and the food is usually really good. The establishment inside is clean, organized, and has a good selection. I usually grab a bag of their homemade tortilla chips to have in the house instead of Tostitos, etc. The best food item by far are the tacos! I've tried all the traditional proteins (Al pastor, carne asada, chicken) and all are amazing; my favorite being the Al pastor. The burrito and quesadillas are good too, and pretty traditional. The torta milanesa res (breaded steak) is my go to Torta, and is really tasty for something different. The steak milanesa is cooked perfectly, and is a good sandwich out of the norm. Now for the negatives.. Something that drives me crazy, is when I have good Mexican food, but the homemade hot sauce and homemade salsas are no good, and their sauces here, unfortunately, are very below average. The salsa Rojo hot sauce and salsa verde just have no taste, and are not spicy at all. Also, the worst dishes here imo are the fried shrimp and chicharron (fried pork belly bites). The shrimp and fried pork are good quality, but are not tasty at all, under spiced, and just have no flavor. Plus, the coating/breading of the fried shrimp is not very crisp, and has a soft/weird kind of texture. Definitely wouldn't order either of these dishes again. Lastly, the tamales are big, plump, and really good imo, but they usually run out in the morning, and if you come in the afternoon or for dinner, they're always "sold out" and they tell you to order a day ahead next time. Not sure why they can't just set aside/make extra for the afternoon. And again, no good sauce/consumme like an adobo sauce, red chili sauce, or guajillo sauce is served with them. Guess they're not big on sauces here. Either way, it's a very decent operation with mostly very tasty food. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but far from the worst. Will continue to frequent this establishment. read more

We had gone to Blowing Rocks Preserve. This market is a must on the way to the highway. Don't pass it up, as it's not only a great Mexican market with a butcher, but it's a taco bar. Beyond great service and super friendly. Delicious and authentic food. Delicacy of beef tongue tacos. Must try. Spicy sauce. Got some flautas. Carnitas. We needed Mexican chocolate for a recipe and figured Tapatia might have it available. Sure enough they saved the day - and the wonderful chili recipe my husband planned to make. It is a very small store that is very clean and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. They have a little bit of everything veggies, fruit, canned goods and a counter for prepared foods. On the way out we decided to get some chicharron to go. Hot out of the fryer, cut into bite size pieces and served with lime and a fabulous cilantro sauce. It was honestly the best chicharron I have ever had. Next time we'll definitely get more cilantro sauce. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I ordered a "carnitas" quesadilla and was served a large helping of pork fat smoothened with cheese, between two tortillas. Jeepers creepers, if you dont have enough pork to mark a quesadilla... let the customer know so they can make another selection. If you do have enough pork to have a quesadilla and you choose to serve someone 90% pork fat then shame on you! Honest to God... the amount of pure fat on the quesadilla was offensive. Super friendly and helpful folks, very decent meats and veggies, interesting products not available at your local Publix, and a quick service food counter that is spotless and cooks all those delicious ingredients up for into some massive burritos, cheesy quesadillas, and decent tacos. Although I am not the highest qualified to rate a Mexican grocery store, this place has a lot to offer. It is a small store, but offers a little produce section, canned goods, huge bags of rice, Mexican ice cream bars, a nice meat/ poultry section and a small bakery section with fresh rolls and pastries. The highlight of this place is the homemade Menudo, carnitas, chicken wings, and other hot food to take out. There is all kinds of Mexican snacks and candy also. The staff is very friendly and always helpful when we visit. Parking is a little crowded also, as it is in a little corner end of a small shopping plaza. My girlfriend rates the homemade Menudo as the closest thing to her moms stuff. Worth the trip--give it a shot. read more

This little market has authentic tacos! We ordered the chicken tacos and pork tacos. They were both good, but the chicken was my favorite. They are served with a small cucumber side salad which was a refreshing touch. The fresh made to order guacamole however stole the show! It was amazing! This place is great! Lots of fresh produce you may not find in publix, meats, poultry, fish. Food made to order with plenty of options including tacos and burritos. Keep in mind it's a Spanish supermarket and not everyone working may speak the best English although I've never had a problem getting what I've needed and speak very very little Spanish. Wow!! What a great little spot we decided to try today and it turned out to be a gem! Not only did we purchase some extremely reasonably priced produce but we also ordered and devoured some equally reasonably and delicious food! We tried a beef empanada, the steak, grilled chicken and fried shrimp platters. Each platter came w rice, beans (pinto or black), plantains, a roasted jalapeño, limes and fresh tortillas.
